Fortune: *It's still a little chilly for him, so he's wearing his purple coat on the way back to his apartment. However, he's not going home alone that night, so he doesn't rush back like he usually would.* I hope you'll excuse the mess. *He gives Anthea a smile as they round to his street.* I'm not used to polite company. Anthea: *She'd just been doing makeup that night, so she's wearing a blouse and denim skirt.* *She isn't cold at all, though sometimes she envies Fortune for that coat - if only for the look* Ah don't worry about it, you've never seen my place. Fortune: *laughs quietly* That's true. I know there should be enough room for you to walk, so that will have to do. *The building he lives is pretty sizable for the Slums, but it's not much more than a large house broken up into four separate living spaces.* Careful on the middle slep. The landlord said he'll fix it once the slick goes away. Anthea: *hops over it* So are we here to talk business or is this strickly pleasure~? *She's teasing, but she is curious* Fortune: *He was ready to catch her if she tripped at all, but he's glad she made it over all right.**He unlocks the front door to the building and opens it for her.* Depends on what my guest would prefer. I'm sure I could manage either or both. Anthea: *chuckles, resting her hand between his shoulder blades as she followed him in* I think that's up to the man who invited me here~ Fortune: *locks the door behind her again* As you wish~ *He doesn't explain what he means by that either while they walk upstairs.**When he unlocks this door, he has to put his shoulder into it a little for it to open. Even looking inside, it's clear why. Stacks upon stacks of books and magazines line the walls, most of them being about travel and world fashions. His wig collection sits on top of the most secure of these, and lots of clothes are draped over others.**The walls themselves are covered in pictures of him and his various friends as well as original paintings by local artists.* Fortune: Just keep your eyes open, and you'll be all right. Anthea: To avoid getting crushed~? *Comes in after him, looking around* Fortune: *He actually turns a little red.* Yeah, you could say that. I really do need to sort through this stuff... *Not that he'd be likely to throw much away.**There's a path snaking through the place, but that means they have to walk one right behind the other.* My room's probably the least cluttered, so I hope you don't mind if we talk in there. *As if to emphasize the point, his couch is packed full of his dressed. He shrugs off his coat and tosses it onto the pile.* Anthea: *Kisses him on the cheek* Whatever you say~ *Makes her way into his bedroom, meaning to sit on his bed. Of course she's not actually expecting any 'pleasure' to come from this visit, but it's better to play the part.* Fortune: *He smiles and sits down next to her, peeling off his high heels and slipping his feet into some silk slippers.* Did you want tea or anything? I can reach the stove to get the tea kettle. Anthea: *softly* I'd rather you tell me what I'm here for, Fortune. Fortune: ...just wanted to know if you were okay, really. That and I haven't had anyone over for a long time, and you know how I like to talk. Anthea: I'm okay. I'm organizing some sort of contingency plan... and I can stay as long as you want me to. Fortune: Well then, what's the contingency plan of yours? Anthea: *There's a long silence, and finally a sheepish grin spreads across her face. She shrugs.* Fortune: *sighs* So in other words, I should still be a little worried. *meaning he's going to be very worried* Anthea: I'll be fine. I'm just.... working on it. Fortune: You know what they say, though, two heads are better than one. Anthea: All the better to remove from the shoulders. Fortune: *He goes to roll his eyes, but he doesn't.* Anthea, I'll be all right. It doesn't have to be a big plan, but you need something to go off, don't you? Anthea: *She sighs* Maybe. Fortune: Then at least tell me a little of what you've been thinking. Anthea: About what? Fortune: The situation, what you've been doing... Anything, really. *He sounds little disappointed* You don't tell me much as it is, I realized. We talk about work and flirt, sure, but I don't know much about you outside of that. Anthea: *She smiles - but it's a tad forced* Everything's been normal, a few people have followed me maybe... as for the rest of it, there's not much I do outside of work. *smiles* Unless you want to know about the people I meet when I'm dancing. Fortune: How many people have been following you? *not letting this go* Did you see any of their faces? Anthea: One, maybe two. They were young, Elite obviously. They didn't approach me, both male. Fortune: *sighs* Well... just keep to the busier streets, I guess. *clearly not okay with just that* Anything else you can remember? Anthea: No. I think they might be waiting for me to do something 'radical.' Fortune: As if you'd do that. Anthea: *smiles* Who knows? Fortune: Good question. You're always such trouble, having me go and bail you out every other week. *grins* Come on now, you're the most well behaved person I know, and I know a lot of folks. Anthea: *Tips her head back and laughs* Then either you don't know much about me, or you know some really awful people. Fortune: I'd have to say I know really awful people. You're an absolute sweetheart even if I didn't, though. Anthea: *Smiles* Thanks. But I hope you know some ordinary people too. Fortune: More than a few, yeah, but they're all trouble in their own way. *chuckles* It keeps life interesting, that's for sure. Anthea: Not the kind of 'interesting' I'd wish on you. Fortune: I knew what I was getting into when I started working in the Slums, and that was a long time ago. I do what I do because I enjoy it. Anthea: Better than most, at least. Fortune: How's that? Anthea: Most don't enjoy their line of work, especially in your business. Fortune: Maybe not, but it's really all I know. Not even SIN could change that. *laughs to himself* Really, if anything, that just made it worse... Anthea: *Shifts a bit closer* Hmm? Fortune: A kid could make a killing if he was willing to put himself out there, doesn't matter what other people think. I was pretty then too. Anthea: *She falls silent for a few minutes, she's thinking it over* .... do you... need me to feel sorry for you...? Or would you rather I not mention it? Fortune: No no, you don't have to feel sorry for me! *actually sounds a little surprised* I didn't have to do that, but I wanted to be independent. Didn't know how to make money without that, though. Not the kind of money I wanted anyway. Anthea: *Touches him on the shoulder* Most people would feel sorry for you, Fortune. You make it sound... well. Fortune: *shakes his head* I've heard way worse stories, believe me. *He's still smiling, trying to reassure her.* It's nothing. Anthea: *Leans in and gives him a kiss on the cheek* And you're sparing the time to worry about me. Fortune: I'm not sparing anything. *He places his hand over hers and gives it a squeeze.* I'm doing exactly what I want to do. Anthea: Then if it'll stop you worrying, I'll accept your help. Fortune: I'm glad. Do you want to start making plans tonight or wait for another time? Anthea: Why, you have something else in mind~? Fortune: Only if you're thinking the same~ Anthea: And what is that? Fortune: *His free hand rests on her cheek, and he looks right into her eyes.* Do you want me to say or act on it? Anthea: *Blinks back at him, suddenly realizing he's serious* I ah... Fortune: Still not sure? Anthea: *Nervous smile* Got it in one. Fortune: *He slowly pulls back away although his one hand stays on hers.* Then that's a no for tonight. Anthea: ...depends on what this is. *Her hand turns and tightens a little on his* Fortune: It's whatever you want it to be, really... but I'm hoping it wouldn't be a one night stand. Is that clear enough? Anthea: It is. *She smiles and kisses him lightly on the lips, just a peck* Fortune: *It's still enough for the smile to stay on his face.* I'm glad. Always awkward when I have to try and explain more. Anthea: I don't mean to be cryptic. Fortune: You're not. Maybe a little shy... but I don't mind that so much. Anthea: *chuckles* I've never been called 'shy' before. Fortune: And I''ve never had a woman be so worried about me before either. Anthea: I'm sure Maitho has worried about you before. *She realises as she says it that bringing up an old flame might not be a good idea* Fortune: *chuckles, not offended at all* Worried might be the wrong word... Anyway, while he might dress like one these days, I still don't think he considers himself a lady in any fashion. Anthea: *Tilts her head* Would you prefer if I were a man? *Smirks* Because I can manage that. Fortune: *He just laughs again and shakes his head.* You're beautiful and wonderful the way you are. *Not that he'd mind either way.* Anthea: If you're sure~ You know I've catered to some freaky stuff. Fortune: Oh, I'm sure we can find all sorts of games to play, but for tonight, I think we both need to relax. Anthea: *Some tension leaves her shoulders* That sounds like a good idea. Fortune: *He leans in and gives her another kiss, this one lingering longer than the quick peck she gave him.* Anthea: *Kisses him back, holding onto the front of his dress* |
