Resa: *The back door leads out into a quiet, clean little alley, and she's seated on an old fence. No one would question her being there, as she looks like she's just out for a walk. Her hair is going silver again, faded red at the tips which are now long enough to reach her collarbone. She's armed of course, and her wings are out, but she's wearing a thick black coat. Little chance of being recognized out here anyhow. She can hear the music, and the voices inside faintly. Should be time for cake at any moment.* Jasmine: *She steps out first, checking behind her to make sure that all eight girls are there. A couple bringing up the rear are already in tears, with a friend in front of them trying to shush them. It's clear they have no idea what's going on.* Jasmine: *She stops immediately upon seeing Resa, but she doesn't worry about her being an Elite.* ...and who are you? *She sounds snippy, but she's just scared.* Resa: I'm Resa, I'm here to take you somewhere safe. *She smiles, but it's a bit strained and tired* I visited Maitho at the brothel once. Jasmine: ...Maitho? *Oh, right.**She makes a sour expression.* Bianca. Resa: Yeah... Sweet figured you girls could use an escort. *She nods at some of the ones who are crying* You'll be safe with me, promise. *She tries to sound reassuring, but she doesn't know what he's up to either so she can't say she isn't a bit scared herself.* Jasmine: *She glares at the winged girl... but then she sighs and nods.* We don't have much of a choice here. We can't just go back. *At least none of them other than Bia-Maitho, Eric (never did get Haydn's name), and Rowan lived there.**They could potentially get their stuff at another time.* Do you know where Miss Fortune could be? Resa: That's who I'm taking you to. *Hops down from the fence* Never met her myself but you'll be safe. Safe as you ever are anyway... *Pauses* Sorry, that's not very comforting. This way, try to keep discreet, I'm sure you're good at that. *Begins to lead them down another alleyway, dimmer than the rest* Jasmine: Come on, girls. *tries to smile for them* Just act like we're out on the town, like we do when we're just trying to get home without any real trouble. *The girls nod, the two in the back finally collecting themselves, and they all start to chat idly about this and that. How that one guy was looking at them, who's broken up, and who's gotten back together...* Resa: *Trusting that Jasmine is following her* If there's anything you need, I can snatch it later tonight... shouldn't be too hard to break in unless you've deadlocked the place. Jasmine: No... we haven't. We all live in the boarding house down on Avery. We don't have much, none of us do, but I'll get a small list from the girls. Clothes, we can leave, but some things are important. Resa: If there's nothing at the Corner itself that you need, that's even better. They shouldn't track down where you live anytime soon... if at all Jasmine: They better not, but until we know for sure... Resa: *shrug* Hey, that's why I'm going. *Smiles* I'm pretty good at all things illegal... petty stuff anyhow. Jasmine: That doesn't bother me. *She's being honest there.* I just... If I'd known she was MC, I would've tossed Bianca out first thing. Resa: Which is why she didn't tell you. *If Jasmine insists on calling Maitho by his alias, she's probably more comfortable that way* ... thanks for helping me out by the way, that wasn't one of my brightest ideas... Jasmine: *laughs quietly* You were... fine. Resa: *Raises an eyebrow, leading them deeper in* What did I do wrong? Jasmine: Ever hear of trying too hard~ Resa: ......huh? *Turns a corner* What do you mean? Jasmine: It's nothing. *She looks behind her to make sure the other girls are coming, and they're right behind her. If she'd stopped walking, they'd have piled on top of her.* You're not used to buying someone though, are you? Resa: No, it was just for appearances. I wouldn't... do that. *She doesn't mean it as an insult, but her expression might make it seem that way* Jasmine: Not everyone wants to call on a girl, I know. *When one of the other girls starts to whimper again, she turns around. A small glowing blue star appears in her hand, and she gives it to the frightened girl.* Shh... just hold onto that, okay? *She knows it's silly, but it's what she used to do for her little sister. Give her something pretty to hold onto.* Resa: *Blinks at the star, wondering how old the other girl is...* If I wanted anything, I'd just ask... I wouldn't buy it. *Sighs* I know it's the only way to make a living sometimes, he has a point there. I guess that's the kind of thing we want to put a stop to, having to make choices like that just to survive. *Stops outside the door, a back door* We're here. Jasmine: *relieved* Good. I don't know how much longer I could do this, to be honest. I'm not good at politics. Resa: You shouldn't have to be. *Opens the door, looking around it and checking out the room first. She doesn't know why, but somehow she really wants to protect these girls... from Maitho as much as anyone.* Fortune: *He's the only one there, dressed like a man with no makeup or feminine pieces at all.**He gets up from the chair he was sitting in, but his movements are stiffer than usual, from stress and worry.* How are- Jasmine: *She doesn't even give him a chance to finish before stalking past Resa and smacking Fortune across the face, hard.* Do you have any idea what you just let Bianca do?! Resa: Whoah lady... *Pulls her back gently by the shoulder* Maitho doesn't listen to anyone. Jasmine: I don't care! He was still the one who brought Bianca to us, and don't think that I haven't figured out that he knew exactly who that tramp was and what she wanted! Fortune: *He actually looks surprised by the slap, rubbing his tender check for a second while he regains his bearings.* ...well, I didn't plan on him doing large scale murder like that... Resa: ... I don't think anyone planned it. But I'm sure he's gonna make it up to you by getting you new jobs at least. *Looks at Fortune* You must be... Miss Fortune? *She had been expecting a lady, but that was her own fault really.* Jasmine, Maitho's always been a nutter even before he was a murderer. He used to just be our info guy and... well.... Fortune: *sighs* And then he finally cracked, but the Tartarus will do that to be people. *He smiles, apologetically, at the little crowd.* And yes, I'm Miss Fortune, and yes, I'll find new work for these ladies. Jasmine: That still doesn't excuse anything... Resa: They're not worth grieving over, from what little I heard. I've killed for a lot less. *Smiles* ... at least they can't bother you anymore. Jasmine: No... they're not, but what are we going to do, knowing what we know? We can't... go to Latner's clinics anymore. *shudders* If he's not going to use us anyway. Resa: *A cold wave goes down her spine* .....Latner...? Fortune: He's also known as Jester. I've never had a reason to go to one of his clinics, but Mama Lulu was close to him. She made a deal with him to cover the medical needs of her brothel people, but even I don't know what he got in return for it. Resa: ...you... did he ever take blood...? Jasmine: From some of us... but I don't know which. Medical records are private from even the managers. Resa: ... you need to stop doing that. *Closes the door once they're all inside* Jasmine: Doing what? Resa: Giving him blood. Find out which of your girls has done it and don't do it anymore. *There's worried whispers, but they stop when Fortune comes to stand next to Jasmine and puts his hand on her shoulder.* Fortune: ...we'll worry about that all later. I'll try and keep you girls together since I know you all work well together. That sound all right? Jasmine: *snippy yet* I don't know. Are there going to be more MC? Fortune: *shakes his head* Not unless you need a healer, and then we'll use one of theirs. *smiles* They've got a couple to spare~ Resa: Take the old lady off our hands will ya? Could use some peace and quiet. *She's only met the woman in passing at least* Fortune: Heh, I would if she would let me. She's more skilled than that other one, but I don't think her bed manner would be good for these girls. Resa: *Shrugs* Up to you. If you need a body guard or anything... let me know. *She feels weirdly responsible.* Jasmine: We don't need anyone. Resa: .... didn't mean you couldn't take care of yourselves... *Rubs her head* Anyway, I can't really leave until nightfall. I'm kind of easy to spot. Fortune: Everyone will stay here for now... Yvette already gave me the go ahead... *Even if it meant losing her as a contact.* Resa: For...? Fortune: For letting the girls and you stay here for the day. Dawn is coming soon, and it'd be dangerous to go out in the streets. Resa: *Fidgets* ... did everyone get out okay? Fortune: Maitho and the MC? Yeah, no one got hurt as far as I know, and Sweet got Maitho's broadcast out as well. Resa: .....broadcast? *Shakes her head* Nevermind, we'd best get these girls settled first. Fortune: Agreed. Jasmine: *She doesn't say anything more to them, checking on the one girl with the little star first. Said star is starting to fade, but she promises to make the girl some more.* Resa: .... *Seriously, how old is that girl? She looked about her age but the way she's crying... and Jasmine's comforting... Ugh just don't think about it.* Is there anything you need? Food? Supplies? I can get stuff like that easy enough if it's a short run. Fortune: Food is best for now... and their things if you can get them. I would, but I have to keep my face in the dark, so to speak, as much as possible. *He rubs at his eyes... Ugh, all these troubled auras at once, and he didn't bring his sunglasses.* Resa: You look like you need some painkillers too. *She'll need to go home and pick up her things too, and leave Sage a note. As much as it pains her to leave without saying a word, it's better for him and all the people under his wing if she simply vanishes. ... she'll miss the man.* *She pulls at her hair* If you've got a wig or cap I can shove this under, I'll be off. *Bandages... bullets... food... painkillers... she doesn't want to think they'll run into trouble but she wants to be prepared if they do. Seems like war, after all.* Fortune: I'll be fine. If painkillers could do something about it, I would've taken them a while ago, but thank you. *As for a wig, he goes over to a table and then offers her one.* Always good to be in show business when it comes to hiding. Resa: *Grins and pulls it down over her hair, fussing a little to make sure everything is covered* I'll get what I can... Jasmine, do you have an address for me and a rough idea of what to get? Clothes are too heavy but personal belongings should be okay. Jasmine: Ah, that shouldn't be too difficult. I have a music box, a really small one, don't worry. There's also a diary, a book of poems, and- Girl with the Star: My baby's clothes! Please. I know he's safe with his other mother, but I just want a couple of his things. That's all! Jasmine: Shh, Rose honey, it's okay. You're going to see him again soon, all right? Resa: .... okay I'm gonna need a bit of paper. Music box, diary, poems, baby clothes... Jasmine: *She manages to find one and scribbles everything down that the girls ask for, keeping it to one thing each.* There, that should be it... All light weight stuff, but they're the most important. Resa: *Nods* I'll grab whatever extra I can. I should be able to make more than one run but just in case... *Her duffel bag should carry everything* Last thing I need are your keys if you have em. Jasmine: *She gives them to her, all on one ring.* We always went from work to home together whenever possible. If anyone does catch you, just be honest. You're getting our stuff. They'll understand. *Not the first time a bunch of girls has gone into hiding, and it certainly won't be the last.* Resa: ...glad I won't have to fight at least. *Smiles and waves as she ducks out the door* |
