This paper, commissioned by Chris Shanks MP finds that due to private loans-for-work offers the unemployed are, whilst officially unemployed, working for a loan. The low and middle incomes stand well below the international average, with the high income standing very high. Unemployment is extremely high, and 30% of the employed are still relying on private loans to stay above the poverty threshold. Average wage: Unemployed (31.2 million people) £5,000 per annum (income provided via loans to be paid back once in work - no state welfare) Low-income: (23 million people) £10,000 per annum (no minimum wage, no business incentive for higher wages) Middle-income: (10 million people) £15,000 per annum High-income: (0.8 million people) £150,000-1,000,000+ (no limits, rich taking most profits) Unemployment: (those not in full time work) 48% unemployed (31.2 million) 30% Employed and receiving loans (13.5 million) Poverty Line: Relative poverty: £10,000 per annum Absolute poverty: £8,000 per annum Anti-Social Behaviour: With no police force funding and "moral laws" being enforced by certain private companies, stats of antisocial behaviour are difficult to find. However, it is estimated that: Crime rates are rising, 78% of people asked do not feel safe on the streets. 56% feel less safe around youths. Reccomendations: establish a base of income for the nation and begin welfare programs, regulate the industry and balance income disparity in order to justify an income tax.
