Ghost Rider is indeed one of the most anti-hero's Iver ever seen from the Marvel universe. Not many people would be too familier with Ghost Rider. It's not as if he is an unknown character quite the opposite but he's no where near the level of say Spider-Man, Batman or Superman. The funny thing is Ghost Rider is everything Spider-Man and his kind are not. Spder-Man and co wear spandex, tights and well over the top costumes. Ghost Rider is just black panys and a hell of a leather jacket thats it. If you took one look at this fiery individual you would instantly think he's a bad guy. That's exactly what makes him so damn cool. Even though he is a good guy he totally pulls off the whole bad ass thing.

Nicholas Cage as you all know plays Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze. A stunt rider by trade whos life is turned upside down thanks to two things. His farther and the Devil. Blaze makes a deal with the Devil in order to cure his farther's cancer. But as we all know the Devil never plays fair. Blaze is screwed over in the deal and runs from the devil. Johhny Blaze runs and runs fast. Leaving behind all that he loved. Years later Johnny Blaze is basicly Evil Canievil. A stunt riding god who has millions of fans. But the deal he made with the Devil has come back to haunt him. The devil now needs him and Blaze has no choice but to hold his end of the bargin. Ghost Rider consumes Blaze and for the first and only time Blaze is like a possesed Demon. The plot does thicken but I don't want to ruin it for you.

It was a bit worrying at first seeing Nicholas Cage cast as Ghost Rider. No doubt he's a great actor but many thought this movie could have been just like Daredevil. All stars but no real movie. well thankfully those doubters are arong and quite frankly I couldn't have picked a better person to play Ghost Rider. There's no over-the top acting, no cheesy dialoge. The story while not groundbeaking it makes sense, its to the point and you really do feel for Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. Ultimately its about Blaze wanting to prove something to himslef. Prove that there's no need for fear. That he does indeed deserve a second chance.

It's hard to describe just how amazing the special effects are in this move. I mean this movie has great eye candy. Remember Peter Jackson's King Kong? Remember watching that dinosaur scene and going "whoa". Trust me in this movie fire never looked so hot. The transformations, The stunt bike scenes, the villains. Everything just looks simply stunning.

The movie does have its faults but nothing major. One fault that comes to mind is the battles between Ghost Rider and the various villians. The battles are pretty brief and really end quite quickly. Even the end fight which pits Ghost Rider agaisnt the Devil's son, Blackheart is a bit too quick for my taste.

The ending of the film is great. It really does end well with the obvious open end for a sequal. Clearly Cage and co are intrested in a second inning of Ghost Rider and quite frankly so am I. Cage indeed does deserve a pat on the back for his performence as Blaze. While its no Academy award performance does that really matter? Those awards are so overrated.

In conclusion. Ghost Rider is the ULTIMATE Anti-Hero with a nasty mean streak and nothing in common with the likes of his fellow members of the Super Hero universe. He doesn't wear spandex, he's not afriad of the law and if your pissing him off you'll know about it! The speical effects are a realy treat and the story is excieting. This movie overall is a great way to introduce a lesser known hero of the wondrful Marvel world. Here's to Ghost Rider 2.
