Lady and Gentlemen welcome to the second edition of Torched Down! Naturally, I am your host…Torch. Today we have a real treat my friends. He is a former ECWF Heavyweight champion, one-third of a very domineering faction in the ECWF, hell I could sit here and write all day about his accomplishments in the e-fed world. Lady and Gentlemen today I give you the ‘daddy’ of the ECWF, or one of them at least. A man who needs no introduction, but damned if that’s going to stop me. The one…the only…The Iron Man, Jimmy Ice! Burning Stats Real Name: Tim Whitehead Hometown: Toowoomba, QLD, Australia (moved from Seattle.) Age: 25 Song of the Moment: Start the Dance by the Cynic Project Band(s): Saliva, Hinder, Nickelback, Alter Bridge, Godsmack, and so many more! Job: (if applicable) Operations Manager for a Painting Company Favorite Food: Edible . . . lol ummmm Steak with mushrooms. Hobbies: (one or two will suffice) Spending time with my fam, baseball, Reading, Other sports, and lots of others . . . and of course, THE ECWF!! TV Show: House. Good show. =) Movie: Right now I’m a Talladega Nights Fan. But I have so many favorites. =) ---------------------- Torch: Welcome Jimmy to Torched Down! It is my absolute pleasure to have you here. Would you prefer to be called Iron Man, Jimmy, Tim, or Mr. Kenua's Grandma? Lol Iron Man: Actually I am Mr. Kenua's GrandPA. But you know, we'll just go with Iron Man. Torch: Haha. Glad you can be a sport about it. Otherwise I think a lot of us would be hiding under a rock for fear of you hurting us =P. Alright, now let’s get to it. Why did you decide to create the ECWF? Iron Man: Oh boy . . . time for a little of Grandpa's history . . . To be honest, I didn't create the ECWF. ECWF is the product of a merge of 2 great feds. I ran the IHW - House of Pain and Steve (Sensation) ran the ICZ. Steve and Sean (Gotti) approached me about the possibility of a merge. We got to know each other really well and decided to go through with it. The end result was the ECWF. Having said that, I think it was the best move we ever made. I often wonder where we would be right now had we not merged but I am so glad we did. Look where we are now. Look at where we were when we were at our best. This fed is awesome and I think with some time, we will not only reach what we were, but surpass that. Things are looking so good at the moment and we are working hard to keep it that way. On a side note, if anyone knows anyone that wants to be a part of a fed, bring them in. If anyone knows of a way to advertise, as I want to start doing that, let me know. And just a note to the ECWF'ers, look for us to be listed on google in the future. Torch: Wow. I think I remember that ICZ and IHW merge thing, well…at least hearing about how the ECWF got created lol. What was the IHW like? Iron Man: IHW was kind of the good old times for some members. Most of our Vets were a part of it. The IHW had a great atmosphere but I don’t think it was as good as what we have now. Back then, we had the Greats of IW's E-Fed Stars. It was very competitive and I think that’s where some of our guys are looking to get to. Because in terms of competitiveness, IHW was unmatched in my opinion. I wasn’t in ICZ so I cant speak for them but I do know ICZ was an awesome fed. But in IHW, things flowed very well. Up until the merge, we had a lot of things going. The thing we lacked was members. Not horribly so but we, like now, could have used a few more. That was the main goal going into the merge along with a more complete Staff. But in the end, IHW will always be a great memory and its where a lot of our guys made themselves big. I think IHW and ICZ were great stepping stones to what the ECWF is now, if that makes sense. Torch: It makes sense to me. So, it seems as if you have been into e-fedding for awhile. What brought you to the dance? (in layman’s terms, how did you get into e-fedding? lol) Iron Man: I'd been on IW for a few months and saw Marvel's add for the NBWF. I thought it sounded like a cool idea so I checked it out. While its no secret Marvel and I don’t get along, I started there and gave it a shot. Right after I started, the IHW formed and a fella named Jay (what WAS his last name?!) ran it. I checked it out and instantly liked it. I quit the NBWF after a couple weeks or so because Marvel made me look pretty bad, to say the least. When I left, I got into IHW straight away and haven’t left since. The rest as they say, is history Torch: For all the rooks here (myself included) would you care to explain what is exactly it was that Marvel did, or how he made you look bad? I hear he wasn't the greatest guy in the world. Iron Man: Basically it was just how he made me lose. I never won match in the NBWF. See here in the ECWF, I make it a point to tell everyone that sometimes we use underlying storylines and that even if you lose a match, that doesn’t mean you will lose the feud. Marvel didnt work that way. When I was there, he always told me that if I outpromo'd someone, I would win. Except that I never did. But not only would I lose, he would make me lose bad. I worked hard at my promos and even promo'd when my opponent didn’t, and I still lost, with emphasis. He also would tell me I was in line for a title shot or I would be in this big storyline, but it never materialized. The thing was, I never asked him for things. He'd email me out of the blue. I got tired of being lied to and told him I was out. He said it was my loss. I went to the IHW and won the Heavyweight Title in a few months. I got an email from Marvel asking me if I wanted to come back shortly after. You can guess the rest. The point is, we didnt hit it off from the start. It got worse after that. When I left, he blew me off. When I won the title, he was suddenly my friend. Things dont work that way. There's a lot of history between the NBWF and the IHW. But its all in the past. The point is, I think I made the best choice back then and I’m even more sure of it now. The ECWF is here to stay and Marvel and the NBWF are long gone. I know there are some who still think highly of the NBWF and I cant judge a fed just because I didn’t like its owner. The NBWF itself was a great fed. It’s just to bad that Marvel didn’t do more with it. Some of our guys came out of the NBWF. Marvel attempted a comeback a couple of times but he just didn’t put anything into it which is a shame. But The ECWF is my home and I have made a lot of friends here and along the way. Like I said, it’s all in the past. My start may have been a little rocky but things took off after that and I have had a great e-fed career ever since. Torch: Wow. Well i must say that you have reaffirmed my belief in the fact that everything happens for a reason. I think i can speak for almost the entire roster when I say that I am glad the ECWF is here. Now, how do you and the creative team come up with your ideas? What is it like working with the guys? Iron Man: Everyone brings their own ideas to the table and we go from there. Usually ideas start small and they turn into something. A lot of times, someone will get hit with a great idea out of nowhere. lol All that to say that ideas flow freely and the Staff pretty much runs with whatever we have. It’s one large Brainstorm lol. As for working with the guys, I really believe you couldn’t ask for a better team. We are the perfect blend of writers and creative team members. Everyone contributes and everyone pulls their weight. I really could sit here and go on about each one of them individually, but we don’t have that kind of time. The Bottom line is its truly a privilege to work with each of them and to get to know them. We're still trying to perfect the system but as far as the Staff goes, I think we are exactly where we need to be. Torch: It's good to see you guys co-existing. I've been in feds before where things are unorganized. It was bad. So lets get onto this whole e-fedding thing. Its apparent that "Jimmy Ice" is based off of The Rock, but how much of yourself do you put into the character? Iron Man: A lot actually. I based my character off The Rock and in the beginning, I wanted it to be exactly like him. I even tried a couple promos talking in the 3rd person lol but I realized that I needed to make things original. My character has really evolved into a lot of what I see myself as or what I hope others see me as. He's confident, maybe a little arrogant lol, strong, a leader, athletic, etc. I try to show myself through my character. I hope it’s worked. I think if you look at The Iron Man, you will see me. At least that’s what the goal is. =) I know it sounds a little in depth for an e-fed character, but I think everyone puts a lot of themselves into a character, if its original. That’s part of the fun. Torch: I don’t think I can possibly agree enough. Except, I’m not as much of a jerk as heel Torch lol. How about one that maybe some of our struggling e-fedders could use. How do you come up with inspiration for your promos? Iron Man: Oh man . . . lol believe it or not, I don’t think my promos are that inspirational. As far as content goes, I just write them as I type them if that makes sense. Sometimes, something will happen during my day or something and it will hit me to use it in a promo or something. But really, I don’t have anything special that I do or use. I just write. The one aspect of promoing I do find hard is settings. A lot of my promos take place in some part of Iron Man's and Missy's house. Settings are hard because you don’t want some random setting that has nothing to do with you or your match. You want it to work into the promo. That’s something I work at a lot. Half the time, my opponent will beat me to start off the promo feud for the week. In cases like that, I just use what they say and turn it around. I find that the more quality your opponent puts out, the more it forces you to work harder and be good. Sometimes I can throw out a promo in 10 minutes. But, for example like my feud with Shane, I spent the best part of an hour and a half each time just to make sure its all good. All that to say, I don’t do anything great. I just really spend some time making sure I put out quality. Torch: Quality and length. I think your promos are good, but there isn’t a person here who is flawless. I know on a thread somewhere you mentioned the difference between a ‘promo’ and ‘role playing’. Do you think that there is one that is essentially better than the other? Or does it depend on the usage, the person, etc.? Iron Man: It depends on the usage, person, etc. One person may be better at roleplaying and another at promoing. It really depends on how comfortable the person is with either style. It just comes down to which you do best. In the end, neither way is better. It’s all up to the person Torch: So Jimmy, you have been somewhat absent from the ECWF ring, excluding this week. Can we expect to see more of the Iron Man? Iron Man: Hell yeah . . . right now I'm just working hard at building up Ratings Inc with Pete and Rob. Pete is the UI Champ and I get the feeling he's about to make a big splash in the HW Title Division. Rob is a fast rising star and believe me, there is a plan for this young talent. As for Iron Man, I have plans of my own. I've been taking it easy with Tasha (my wife) having somewhat of a hard pregnancy. But things are getting better and I plan on jumping back into the mix fully very soon. Right now, its Synn's Order. But it won't be long before you see The Iron Man challenging for a title . . . but it may not be the one(s) anyone would think. I'll let you all fill in the blanks . . . =) Torch: I think I have to say this right now. Cliché? Yes, but Jimmy –if- you want some, come get you some. Not saying that you are, but it would be an honor. =). So, is Missy based off of your wife Tasha? Iron Man: You never know Torch . . . =) It would be an honor though. One day, you and The Iron Man are going to mix it up. Yes, Missy is based off my wife. The whole Missy character started when the actual Missy (from the now closed NBA fed) came to the ECWF. She was my valet for a while and then one day disappeared. That was about the time my wife started reading the ECWF. So instead of getting rid of Missy, I reshaped her and crafted her after Tash. I think its been good so far. But I plan on bringing Missy out a little more. I want her to be seen more. Torch: Tell your wife I say hi lol. I think Missy is an important aspect of the Iron Man, kind of like Stephanie was to Triple H. Only I’m sure that Tasha doesn’t have that god-awful screech. You know the one I mean lol. What about this new Vixen character. (Is that her name?) Iron Man: Thank you Torch and no, she doesn’t have the screech. lol Vixen was a member that joined ECWF right before the IW 2.0 fiasco. I never got her email so if anyone has it, send her a message. Anyway, Vixen was learning the ropes so I brought her into the group to help her out. We've decided to keep the character in the hopes she may come back. But we also have an underlying storyline with her and our current UI Champ. It’s nothing HUGE, but I think Pete will enjoy it lol Torch: Thank god. I'm not sure I could handle someone else with The Screech lol. I’m sure Pete will... he seems like he is already lol. All right Jimmy, I think it’s that time. Is there anything you would like to add? Iron Man: That’s it? lol just kidding. It’s been a pleasure Torch. Thanks for having me. Just for everyone out there, ECWF's resident Legend might have been on a bit of a break as of late, but you can rest assured that The Iron Man is planning on jumping back into the mix real soon . . . and you never know where The Great One is going to land. Alright folks, there you have it. Da man himself. I’d like to thank Jimmy for taking time out from his busy schedule and answering some questions for us all.
