Torch: Welcome to Torched Down Pete! Let’s jump right into things. How did you find your way to IW and the ECWF?

Pete: I'd checked out IW for a while for the wrestling headlines, basically to keep up with WWE behind the scenes. But when I finished my degree, I decided to register myself on the myimpact side of things. I never ever dreamed I’d be in efeds, I always thought they were kind of sad, and definitely not for me, lol, 18 months later... how wrong I was! It’s all Wrestling God's fault and those damn IHW blogs!

Torch: Was that the first fed you joined?

Pete: My first fed was Impact Hardcore Wrestling (IHW). It was a great fed started by King Kong Bundy and Wrestling God I think, and had guys in there like Rock, Mustafa Hassan, Matt Ackerman, Kid Crunch, Shauna Angle (Matt's favourite so I’m told), WCW I think, and three very new guys to efeds, myself, Canadian Killer, Hellraiser, now better known to you and I as Mr. Reality Shane Warner, although I don’t think Shane was in IHW for long before the change to IHW House of Pain. Venom might well have been in there as well. It was also the place of my first faction, The Enterprise, which I was in with Bundy, and a few others who's names don’t spring to mind at the minute! There were two main factions in there, The Enterprise, and Crap, I cant think of the other (headed up by Kid Crunch and Wrestling God). They were awesome factions though, each had about 8-10 members. It's been too long!

Just remembered the members of the factions. In the Enterprise was King Kong Bundy, Iron Man Jimmy Ice (Heavyweight Champ), The Master of Destruction Pete Jones, West Coast Wonder, Shauna Angle, and possibly NNN. The other group, god it shits me that I cant remember the name, consisted of CBO Jay Dubley, Wrestling God (who both ran the fed with Bundy), Mustafa Hassan (Iron Man's arch rival), Kid Crunch, and some others. They were awesome days!

Torch: So you’ve been associated with Jimmy Ice for almost all of your career?

Pete: Yep, ever since the very beginning. Although we were in The Enterprise together for a short while before IHW evolved into IHW-House of Pain, it was really then when we really got to know each other properly. You see the guy who was running IHW got arrested and sent down I presume, so Rock took over the reigns, and the legendary runner of efeds was born. You know we probably have Jay Dubley to thank in a round about way for ECWF. Who knows if Rock would've got into running feds if it wasn’t for his stupidity! Anyway, Rock and I started talking a fair bit because of that and are now really good friends. I think its weird that we're so completely different in some ways, from completely different backgrounds and countries, etc. but are so similar in a lot of ways too. He's a top bloke.

Torch: And would you mind explaining some of the differences? Just for fun?

Pete: Ha, well that’s not ridiculously easy seeing as all we all know about each other is generated from emails and internet communication. We've all probably got ridiculously warped views of each other that may hardly represent the real us in the 'real' world! We've got very similar mindsets when it comes to the importance of family, etc. And seem to react to things and think about things in a similar way, which may be hard for some of you to believe if you equate my characters 'short fuse' to the real me. I'm not as bad tempered in real life, lol.

Considering we're around the same age, he's probably a little more grown up than me seeing as he has a wife, a child, and another one on the way! Hell if Lora turned round to me (my long term girlfriend) and said I was gonna be a Daddy I think i'd want to curl up in the corner somewhere and rock myself to sleep, lol! I'm sure I’d get over the shock eventually. From reading your interview with Rock, the major difference judging by his job is that he must be a wonder with a paintbrush, whereas I wouldn’t know one end from the other!

Torch: Haha. Let’s get back to efedding though. So Mr. UI Champ, tell us about your history with the title. By that I mean, when did you first win it?

Pete: See Craig was giving me stick yesterday because I’m absolutely useless with History and remembering stuff about the efed. The most embarrassing example of this is the fact that I cant remember who I beat when I won the UI title for the first time!!! I'm wracking my brains, but nothing! See if Shane or Rock were on now, or X-Pac, i'd ask them, but I’m all alone so I’ll just have to admit being crap! Lol, not good. I first won the belt in IHW: House of Pain when it was called The Internet Championship. I'm sure I won it off a guy who called himself 'Randy Orton', blatant rip off (and a complete ass), I’m glad we don’t have guys like that in this place, well besides Pac, and he's been portraying that character for so long that he's perfected it and turned it into a character in its own right. Anyway, back to the point. I won the belt shortly before IHW-HOP and ICZ merged. That gave the management team a problem. You see ICZ had an Internet Champ by the name of 'Insane Gary Lang'. Anyway, we feuded for the unified belt, and at ECWF's first ppv I became the first ever Ultimate Internet Champion! Me and Carltio Dynomite (who I later found out to my complete and utter shock, was the recently returned Mr. Spectacular in a 2nd character) had been having a long feud back in IHW:HOP, and shortly after I defeated Lang for the UI belt, Carlito took it off me.

After I came back from my sabbatical from efedding last year (when I traveled Australia for 3 months) I entered a feud with WCW and The Street Sweepers, at the end of which I became Ultimate Internet Champion once again. According to Craig I’ve been champ for something like 220 days and counting!

Torch: Wow, that’s quite awhile. Was the Internet championship the first major belt you won?

Pete: To date its the only belt I've ever won! Suppose it can be looked on as both a good and a bad thing. Good that I’ve always been in and around a top belt, but bad that I’ve not won other things, like the Pure Title, which I think would be perfect for my character :P, or the Big one, the Elite Heavyweight Championship! But hey, i'm not finished yet!

Torch: It was Rick Steiner that I first heard say: You want some? Come get some. There you are Pete =P. Now Pete, how are you doing as the new head of talent? How is it working on the creative team?

Pete: I'd hardly call me the head of talent. I'm more the janitor! I just stand there while the shit gets thrown at me and try to fend it off, lol! My new role is more of a complaints/go to guy for the roster. Its basically designed to keep that sort of stuff away from the guys writing the shows. Its my way of doing my bit.

As far as being staff, I’m really enjoying it, especially getting stuck into the storylines, its excellent. I hope the rest of the guys are enjoying working with me as I am with them. It’s hard though, the real world gets in the way sometimes. I could never put in the amount of hours Rock and Shane do, those guys, as well as Matt, are the ones we really should thank for this fantastic efed!

Torch: Well then, right now I must extend a thanks to those three guys. Hell, all of you “higher ups” as I call you are doing a wonderful job! But, I think it’s that time again…Pete, any last words you would like to leave us with?

Pete: That time honoured ECWF phrase seems fitting here, stay tuned... this may well just be a very interesting year for The Master of Destruction!

And to Countdown and X-Pac who have a number one contenders match for my title Sunday night, whoever wins fella's, be ready for a war! I don’t plan of letting my belt go easily!

Thanks Torch, enjoyed it!

No Pete, thank YOU. Due to time constraints, the West Coast Wonder was unable to appear on this weeks Torched Down. He has been rescheduled for next week.

The other faction in the IHW was the Corporate Revolution, which had WG, CBO Jay Dubley(co-runner of the fed with Bundy), and Randy_Orton (complete jackass). NNN I believe was in the tag team Total Wrestling with the Paradigm. Also Mustafa Hassan and Snitsky were both Dubley, which explains why they disappeared when he did. And Pete, you beat Insane Gary Lang, Carlito Dynomite, and Compton's Most Wanted in a Fatal Four Way to win the title.
