i said no. even though i like rock, i dont think it will be around for a long time.

that being said, what music DOES stand the test of time? not a whole lot. music evolves and so will death metal.

But those bands you just mentioned aren't death metal bands. Metallica isn't death metal nor is AC/DC (in fact their hard rock not metal at all).

Death metal will not last full stop.

I wouldn't say Death Metal is exactly "in" right now. We'll have to wait a couple of years to see, though. I think the U.S. market is still caught up in the punk/emo genres of rock to really give some leeway to death metal at the moment.

Another thing to consider is the fact that death metal isn't exactly the most preferred form of music in regards to the religious demographic, which is pretty large. Even Christian metal bands, namely STRYPER, have been turned against by followers of their faith because of the view that Rock music, especially metal, is viewed as Satanic. If such a genre were to become big, it would cause the Christians, no matter what their denomination, to revolt. Considering the FCC and Clear Channel's current trend against swearing and other things that are considered (but aren't necessarily) "obscene", they wouldn't take such a risk, unless they believed that death metal could generate enough revenue numbers for the music labels to counter-act the protests from religious groups.

SO, it doesn't seem likely that death metal is going to become big States-side, but stranger things have happened. After all, for a brief period of time, industrial music was all the rage.

Another thing... I don't believe disco really "died out" so much as it evolved into modern-day electronic/dance/house/techno music. The Scissor Sisters actually gained some attention a few months ago with a single that sounded remarkably disco-like.

Hahaha thats funny X-pac. Rock will never die and never be not in. Rappers like 50 cent are fads and will die away.

No it doesn't. He just his opinion is based on his music taste. Look at the bands that hugely popular now. Look at rock bands like AC/DC or Metallica. Those bands are STILL hugely popular. Name one rapper or Hip-hop guy that has had that kind of longivty.

The only rapper I even know from that list you mentioned X-pac is Jay and I presume you mean Jay-Z right? When LP's new album comes out watch. It'll sell like mad just like their previous album. Rockstars are forever and will always be in.
