Welcome one and all to the latest edition of Torched Down. Folks, do I ever have a treat for you. This fellow that I am about to introduce is truly one of a kind in the e-fed world. He’s a multiple time world champion and one of the first guys that you will want to go to if you are having problems in the ring. Folks, it is my honor to present to you, on of the best there is, the legendary…West…Coast…Wonder Burning Stats Real Name: Matt (Insert Last Name Here) Hometown: Chicago, Illinois Age: 15 Song of the Moment: "Hey(Oh)"- Red Hot Chili Peppers Band(s): Shinedown, Metallica, Killswitch Engage, Crossfade, Muse, Lostprophets, I could keep on going forever Job/level in school: Freshman in high school Favorite Hobbies: Wrestling, weightlifting, ECWF TV Show: SmackDown, The Simpsons, Smallville, The Office (occasionally) Movie: Borat, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, the Sixth Sense, Signs, I'm sure there are more but I can't recall right now. ----------------------- Torch: Welcome to Torched Down WCW! Let’s start out with a common question. How did you find IW, and what prompted you to start e-fedding? WCW: "Well Torch, I think I was searching something wrestling related on Google, can't remember what, and IW just popped up. I signed up in May 2005, immediately forgot about it, and left my account to rot. Then I remembered that I had an account 2 months later, went back to IW, and started reading the blogs. I believe it was there that I read one of IHW's latest shows, and I was intrigued. I looked into it, and I liked what I saw. There was the Iron Man, WrestlingGod, KingKongBundy, Dubley, NNN, Paradigm, Pete Jones, and everyone else. I really liked the roster they had and I wanted to get involved. So I contacted Dubley and he got me my first match with Mr. Cena (guess who it is) in a chain match which I won. I was lucky to win it because I wasn't very good at the time, but then again, Mr. Cena (Compton's Most Wanted) was even worse than I was. So basically that win started my e-fed career. The next week I lost to Compton (by WWE booking rules), but joined the Enterprise soon after. IHW broke down due to the owner getting arrested, IHW-HOP was opened by the Rock, and the rest is history." Torch: Man, you DO remember a lot don’t you? I’ve heard a lot about Compton’s Most Wanted. Mind if we take a minute so you can sort of explain this guy to use newer folk? WCW: "Oh, man, don't even get me started with this guy. Of all the people who have ever fedded, he is the one who has improved the least. Even Mike Becker was better than him. Compton was more unreliable than Jeremy Justice. He claims to be from Compton and a follower of the Game (the rapper), and opened up numerous unsuccessful feds. Compton has gone by a lot of aliases in the past, and I believe he was King Arthur in the XWA at one point. He was a failure everywhere he went, and I don't think he ever won a single credible title. He was also Vince McMahon, head of the WWE E-Fed, where he plagiarized directly from the WNC. Simply put, the guy is just plain bad. He also doesn't have a very good code of ethics because he thought stealing matches was okay. That's all I have on CMW. I'm sure other people have more to say about him than I do." Torch: It makes me really glad we have an amazing staff here. And the good thing about this separate board is that we don’t have assclowns like that. Or at least we can prevent it. Anyway, enough about him. Let’s talk about your major e-fed accomplishments. People you’ve beaten, titles won, awards won, things like that. WCW: "Where do I start? I've won so many titles it's hard to keep track of them all. I remember the first title I ever won was the IXW Tag Team Championship with Matt Ackerman as Aerial Armageddon. It was a great feeling to win that title and I started winning more titles after that one. My first major title was the XWA Xtreme Heavyweight Championship which I won from Venom at Hostile Takeover, the XWA's first PPV. The thing that sucked about it was that Marvel had me lose the title the very next week, which really made me mad since I couldn't even promo for the match as it was unannounced. My next world title was the OCW Global Heavyweight Championship which I won from Venom at OCW One Night Stand, a hell of an event written by Shane. That was really satisfying because I had gone undefeated in OCW up to that point. After OCW closed down, I was sort of stuck in a rut in XWA and going nowhere. I feuded with Shane and beat him in an Electric Steel Cage. I also formed the East-West Connection with X-Pac but unfortunately our first version didn't work out too well and we ended up losing to the Dread Pirates Kidd. Eventually Venom took notice (he had become the booker) and inserted me into an Armageddon Battle Royal for the title at Bloodfest 2006 against Marvel, Countdown, and Kenua. Now this was my time to get back at Marvel and I promoed like a madman for that match. I was all over Marvel in my promos and as much as he tried to get back at me, I kept coming back at him and ended with one gigantic promo which sealed the deal and I won the Xtreme Heavyweight Championship for the second time. That was probably the most satisfying title win I've ever had because I felt like I finally got what I deserved. Plus, due to a stipulation in the match, Marvel had to leave XWA. I don't want to come off like I hate Marvel, because I don't, but I just had the feeling that he didn't like me very much and took the title off of me the first time because of that. My last world title win was in ECWF, which I didn't even want to win since I felt like I couldn't match up to Shane. I had wanted to retire ever since before Stage of Legends in 2006 but due to commitments to the ECWF, I stayed around for as long as I could. I had always wanted to go out in a match against Sean Gotti written by Sean Gotti and that dream came true on the last day of 2006 when I defended the Elite Heavyweight Championship in my final match. That show was very moving because it showed just how much everyone cared. Props go out to the Rock, who organized the whole thing and should be commemorated for all he's done. Rock should get a statue made of him or something, but that wouldn't even be good enough to thank him for all he's done. I could go through everyone I've ever faced but that would take hours to write, so I'm just going to skim over the rest of my accomplishments. I'm a 7 time tag team champion, a former Ultimate Internet Champion, a former member of the Street Sweepers, Total Wrestling, and Icons of Primetime, and a current member of the East-West Connection. I've won four heavyweight titles to this date, and I would have won a fifth if it wasn't for NBA closing down. I've also gotten inducted into the IW Hall of Fame and the ECWF Hall of Fame and been awarded 2005 ECWF Feud of the Year against Mr. Spectacular, Best Promoer of 2006, and Most Successful Wrestler 2006. I also help run the Impact E-Fed Dojo with NNN and at one point I booked the ECWF shows and everything in between for five straight months. That was back when we were low on staff and it was only like me and Rock and a few others. I've also written entire shows, including a few MNMs and 90% of Survival of the Fittest. I also began MNM Interactive, which is the match predicting thing that was used in other feds and is used in ECWF still to this day. My most famous opponents include Pete Jones, Shane Warner, Jeremy Justice, Modern Marvel, and Venom, who I feuded with multiple times in many different feds." Torch: Most guys would kill to have a resume half that size. It’s no wonder that people often refer to you as one of the greatest e-fedders of all time. How does it feel when guys like Jimmy Ice and Shane Warner say that? WCW: "Oh, man it feels great. Iron Man has been on top since the very beginning, when I was a no-name curtain jerker. I looked up to him then, and I still look up to him now. It's always an honor when Iron Man compliments you. And as for Shane, well, words can't even describe how great of a heel Shane is. When you've got the top heel in the business complimenting you, it boosts your self-confidence higher than you can imagine. Torch: When the top heel and the top face agree on something, you know they can’t be wrong. Let’s talk about your Impact Dojo. What prompted you to start it? WCW: "Actually it's not "my" Impact Dojo, as I co-own it with Matt Ackerman. Matt came up with the idea of the Impact Dojo as part of his character bio, and I thought it would be good to start a sort of e-fed school for beginners, since people who were new to this sort of thing didn't know what to do, like me when I first started. We put two and two together and came up with the Impact E-Fed Dojo. At first we had no students at all, just a few people who didn't do anything (RKOsledgelyangel). Our first real student was a guy by the name of Canadian Crippler, who won the New Era (TV) Title quickly but didn't last for long as he disappeared. The Dojo soon grew as new guys like Vlad, Ragin Bull, Rob, and coincidentally, Torch popped up onto the e-fed scene. Working with rookies has been one of the favorite parts of being in e-feds and I'm glad I got to do that, because now look at where all my "students" are. Vlad is the TV Champ, Rob is part of Ratings Inc, and Torch is is the Pure Wrestling Champ and challenging for the Elite Heavyweight Championship. I'd say it was a good investment of my time, wouldn't you? Torch: Heh, I’d say I couldn’t have done it without you guys. And if you’ve had that sort of success, there is absolutely no arguing with the idea of the Dojo. Speaking of the Heavyweight title, why is it that you retired shortly after you won it? I would assume it was personal reasons? WCW: "The thing is, I never wanted to win the title. Ever since March of 2006, I wanted to retire from e-feds. The stress of managing e-feds and life was just catching up to me and I needed a break. The problem was, I couldn't retire just yet. I had to keep ECWF running. The fed was dying in the summer and I didn't want that to happen so I stuck around as long as I could until everything was alright. Then I had to fulfill my XWA commitments since I was the XWA Champion at that time, so that was another few months until I could leave. I finished up in XWA but I had one last goal to accomplish: Gaining 100 wins. I stayed out the remainder of the year, accomplished my goal, and was set to retire on December 31st, the last day of the year, in a match against Sean Gotti that I had always wanted. My final exams were going to be a few weeks after that, so there was no way I could study and still maintain being in e-feds. Rock booked me to win the number one contendership in a triple threat since there were no other contenders. Stuff happened and Shane wanted to take a break from the main event and he said he wanted to drop his title to me. I had already offered to lose to Shane in the title match but he didn't want that to happen. Seems like he thought I should have won it a long time ago and never got the chance to. It would have made more sense for me to lose that match since my retirement match was a week after that but Rock and Shane wanted to put the belt on me. Now there was really no way I could be ECWF Champion and study my ass off at the same time. So I won the title in an Iron Man match, gaining my last heavyweight championship a week before my retirement match. I told Sean that I wanted to put him over but he straight out refused to do that, saying that the least he could do was put me over. And boy did he put me over. My final match was a satisfying way to go out of e-feds. Now all I had to do was start to concentrate more on school. I'm still working on that. Torch: It’s a burden a lot of us carry, school and e-fedding. Are you planning on coming back for the summer? WCW: "Let's just say that you'll have to wait to find out. I may or may not make a return during the summer. It all depends on the circumstances and if I have enough time or not. If I do in fact return, look to see some more intensity, more destruction, and more unrelenting promos than ever before." Torch: And that is PLENTY to be worried about. Well WCW, it has been my distinct honor to have you here. Any closing words you would like to give the ECWF and the fans? WCW: "It's been my honor to be on Torched Down. I'd like to tell the ECWF and its members to keep on giving 110% and to make this fed the best it can be. I've seen this fed go through good times and bad times, and right now the only direction to go is up. There is no limit to how good we can be." That’s all I have for this week. Be sure to turn in next time as I go one on one with ECWF’s reigning KOTD Mr. Action, Craig Lovecraft © 2007 Assassination Productions. WCW, I really have never thanked you and NNN you all the work you done for me in the Dojo. I mean I was the final 3 of the ECWF World Title picture, and the TV Champion (not anymore....). Thanks WCW, and Torch that was one hell of an interview. |
