Its that time again . . . The Rock’s Perspective. By the way, anyone who can come up with a better name, I would appreciate it.

My Take on the ECWF:

I think this fed is just getting better and better. The promos have been solid and I don’t see anyone who hasn’t been doing well. The only thing I would say is this week the promos have been somewhat lacking. But a few of you have made a good effort to get something in. I know everyone has things they have to do so I don’t want anyone thinking that I would be upset. However, its important for you guys to show that you deserve to be where you are. Nothing gets to The Staff more than when you elevate someone and they fall off. This is just an FYI to everyone. You’re all doing very well. Keep it up. Just remember that if you are going to be away, please try and let us know so we can work around it.

Superstar of the Week:

This time around, I have to go with Venom. The man has been on a roll and his promos have been awesome. Add to that the fact that he’s in a World Title feud AND has been mixing it up with EWC and delivering every time and you get one unstoppable force. Venom has been around for a while and no one plays the kind of roll like he does. I’ve seen Venom works since the beginning and I thought he was good back then. Look at him now. If the younger or newer guys are looking for someone to watch or look up to, this is the man to look at. You don’t get any better than him.

Highlights:

The last few weeks have been filled with new feuds and storylines galore. Matt has stepped up against Paradigm and Venom, showing both men he isn’t afraid of anyone, The Russian Rocket has been teasing a return and has his sights set on his former friend, Texas Jack got a bit of revenge on Countdown and since then, The UI Scene has been heating up with the addition of Craig Lovecraft to the mix. Rob and Louie have kicked things off in the Pure scene and I am looking forward to this. Rob has come a long way and its good to see him get better all the time. Chasing his first title in the ECWF, Rob has all the tools to not only become the new Pure Champ, but to be an effective one at that. Ant is mixing it up well with Iron Man in the KOTD Division and to be honest I can’t wait to see how this pans out. One thing I need to mention before going on, I owe Ant an apology. When the show was written, Ant came down and attacked Missy in the ring after Iron Man’s match with Matty. I didn’t know this was not in line with his character. Ant graciously pointed out the mistake and has been a good sport about it. So my apologies to him for the mistake. You will see something in the next show addressing that. From there, the IX Title, in Reaper’s possession will be seeing a new #1 Contender soon. Reaper has been dying to kick start his title reign so I can assure everyone this is going to be a good feud to watch. The Tag Titles are in the hands of one of the greatest teams around. But a new group is stepping up and you’ll see its debut at the next show. I look forward to seeing what they can do.

The rest of the roster, as I said before is looking very good. I know there are a few non title feuds sprouting up or in the works and that is very good to see. A good non title feud sometimes is harder to carry on simply because you don’t have a prize at the end. But the mark of a true Main Eventer is someone who can make themselves watchable in any situation. Show me a good non title feud and I will show you two or more great E-Fedders.

Advice:

I’ve noticed lately in promos that a certain pattern has developed. When I read what you guys put up, there are those who have content to their promos and then there are those who have . . . something else. The number one rule in promoing is quality over quantity. I have seen guys write pages on pages but they had virtually nothing to say. Neatness and Spelling is the next rule. Now, having said that, I want to stress something to you guys . . . when you write promos, you need to have a focus. Just because you throw out something that looks big doesn’t mean its any good. Some promos I have seen have been all over the place. One minute you’re here, the next you address this other guy and so on. You need to spend time on your opponent. “I’m gonna kick your ass” is not a promo. The best way to go about making sure that your promo is quality is to take what your opponent(s) have written and pick it apart. Read it through and address the things they bring up. But it also helps to know when to ignore some of the things they say. If someone calls you stupid . . . ignore it. It isn’t worth taking up a paragraph addressing it. However, if someone tries to discredit you in any way, ignoring it can make you look bad. See the difference? Always, always, always make sure you address your opponent. If you spend an entire promo just talking to someone else and barely reference your opponent, then what good does it do? In the ECWF, we use basic promos. You and your opponent go back and forth. There are certain kinds of promos called Roleplays in which the character will give a backstory to let his readers get to know him. Further, there are roleplays where you get sort of a glimpse into the day of a Superstar. In those types of roleplays, that’s when it would be ok if you didn’t directly address your opponent.

I hope all that makes sense. The point I am trying to make is make sure your promos are neat, readable, make sense and most importantly, they address your opponent. The obvious side of things is you wouldn’t bring reality into it. I can’t tell you how many times someone has called me Rock in their promos. You need to make sure you address the character, in character. Don’t bring up OOC stuff in a promo. Plain and simple.

For the most part, like I said, you guys are doing really well. Just make sure you think about this stuff when you write. Its one thing to have a conversation in your promos, but you need to make sure you spend some time addressing your opponents. Keep a focus and make your promos about your matches and about who you’re facing. If you want to venture into a different type of promo or roleplay, that’s just fine but I’d recommend trying your hand in the Dojo before you bring it out in a match.

Random Thoughts:

Baby Update: We’re 3 weeks away . . . and things are busy. July 16 is the due date. More as it comes.

There’s an ECWF Magazine in the works which will include Missy’s and Billy Jo’s photoshoot as well as an interview with an ECWF Superstar and much more! Kenua will be taking this over again and we promise . . . it will be a little more serious this time around. However, you can expect Kenua’s sense of humor come out throughout the magazine.

Baseball Update: First practice is next weekend and I’m jazzed. Got some more Batting Practice in and it feels really good to be back into things. We’ll have a couple months of practices before teams are chosen. I’ll keep you updated.

Iron Man has a board of his own now dedicated to his career. Anything you want to know about The Iron Man, you can find there. Anything that you can’t find will be added sooner or later. It’s a never ending process of updating and editing. I hope you all enjoy it and please feel free to leave some feedback in the feedback section. It would be much appreciated.

As some of you may have noticed, Missy Munroe is now just Missy. It was brought to my attention a little while back by a few people that Missy Monroe (different spelling) is actually a porn star. I had no idea about this and when Tash found out, needless to say, she didn’t want to keep the name. So Missy has been renamed to Missy Maddox although most of the time, she’ll just be called Missy. I want to make it clear that this is an out of character thing so bringing it up in your promos is not only uncalled for but breaks one of the “promoing rules.” Any mention of it will be deleted. I know that sounds harsh but I want to keep OOC and BIC issues separate.

Our New Chat Box:

By now, virtually everyone has seen the new chat box. Shane was kind enough to show it to me and put it on our page for us. This chat not only is better than our last, but it automatically updates! Its like chatting on AIM or MSN. Another feature this box has is that you can view a “Lobby.” Some of us have taken this a step further and actually took to visiting this lobby and some of its rooms.

I don’t need to tell you all how much fun you can have in a chat room where teenage angst rules. A few of us . . .Venom, Torch, Craig, Rob, Kenua, Xpac, Vlad and more ventured into one such chat room just to see how things would go. The results had me laughing out loud repeatedly. Venom took the lead by posting as Thomas the TankRichard and offering some train love. I joined in and soon everyone was doing it. What resulted was beyond description. I’m hoping to see one of our Komedy Klub writers write a little something on it.

Why bring this up? Well first, thanks again to Shane for bringing this chat in. But second, this chat has a fun side to it. You can have a few laughs along the way. If you want to know more about what happened, well, just join in the next time we’re all on. You’re sure to have a blast.

That’s all I have for now guys and girls. I hope you enjoyed it.

i was wondering when the next little iron man was coming.

i dont remember if i read anything about it (my mind is still in shock over Benoit) but also, just becuase you post 4743543 promos, doesn't necessarily give you the win. if you post that many promos and they're not good, then what good does that give you? points for trying? i'm not saying that people post bad promos here, not at all. but i can count on two hands, the guys that do this. just, beware.
