It gets ridiculously difficult to stay focused on school frequently.

What usually works for me is disabling my internet so I can't go on it for a set amount of time... Getting some tea/comforting beverage and making sure I calm down.

I like to listen to soothing background music, Pandora helps with this one because of the variety and I don't have to do much to start the playlist or keep it going. (:

It doesn't guarantee that I'll be completely focused, depending on how unsettled I am by something, but it usually helps.

I'm really not good at thid, but the one thing that is for sure, is to take one day at a time...I can't think on the sunday that I still have 5 days left to work before another week-end...It makes me way too anxious...So one day at a time, even one morning & one afternoon at a time...Also what works the best for me is to try to keep as busy as I can, so times goes faster...

Has anyone ever had a boss, co-worker, teacher, counselor, etc. find out about your eating disorder? How did that go over?

This happened to me only once, at my current job, one girl started spreading rumours (only to a few people who are actually very down to earth, but still it wasn't her place to say anything) that i was barfing in the trash can at the gas station... This is true, but that's not the point... I ended up telling another girl, Koko, about the ED, and after that the rumours stopped (i'm assuming she told Hannah to stop talking about it, thank you koko)

Anyone else?

My only advice.... keep to yourself, don't let people too close... cold-hearted, maybe... i've just gotten hurt way too many times by trusting people... the crutch of this disorder, i suppose..

No, I haven't.. Although I very seriously considered telling the director of my program the real reason my grades were so bad after the first quarter of classes... Decided against it. Resolved to fix myself and my grades. Only fixed one of those, though.

I trust her a lot, but I feel like exposing yourself on such a personal level to someone who you have a professional relationship with is like walking a tight-rope. I probably never will tell anyone I work with at school about this... I agree with being cautious of who you trust..

Yeah, i've found it makes things far too complicated when you tell people, and i can imagine it could make things extra sticky in a professional-type relationship, like with your director.. reading that first part, i was like "eeee don't tell them!" I like the way you resolved that though, to focus on the problem and work to fix it, I try to apply the same thing to myself, but it takes practice and lots of self-reflection... I think the forums and blogging help with that aspect a TON

Secrets, secrets..

I remember reading something once also, "There are people who will ask because they care, and people who will ask because they're curious"... Just make sure you know the people around you before you reveal anything about yourself, ever, because humans tend to be cruel...

a lot depends upon how serious your ed is and how stress affects it. for me i cannot focus on me with a lot of stress. for ME to even begin to recover i cannot be worried about being perfect/pressured/feeling not good enough. but for me taking art classes helps. art is meditative and increases my self esteem. so being busy is helpful, added stress/pressure for me is very distructive. but i'm also fully disabled now, so oh well. point is proven to the whole world. :-$ sorry for so many "for me" but i can only speak from my own experience. when i was doing better i would relapse always due to too much stress. so i never was able to hold a job and had to drop out of school (with straight A's of course) many times.

I have. The woman the works in the warehouse called me out on it, and it hasn't changed anything. She will bring down coffee for me if she goes upstairs, but that's about it.

My manager knows because I've had to call in sick when I was in the hospital and I had to book a lot of time off to see my psych and dietician. She occasionally asks how councilling is going and I just tell her, yeah its going well, (i'm not currently seeing anyone)
In regaurds to university, I don't have to make any presentations because I told the disability advisor for the school of psychology that I have anxiety, so I've been pulled out the presentation stuff and I get extentions on request.
Also when I am working on assignments I snack so much, because I get stressed so I just eat and eat and eat, it's awful, but once my assignments are done the urge to eat tends to go away.
That's my way of coping with the stress anyway.
