![]() Main Information Name: Alain Olivier Seraphine Nickname: Al, Ollie, Iron Man (his fight club handle) Gender: Male Age: 22 Birthday: August 15 Year: 9th Blood: Muggle Wand: 10 inches made of maple wood with a strand of Gryffindor hair and basilisk blood core. Previous School: He pretty much went to Muggle schools all his life, only getting Home Tutored for magical subjects. EPITA, Graduate School of Computer Science and Advanced Technologies was the college he attended at fifteen, finishing at eighteen. Major/s: Transfiguration Minor: – Physical Description: Height: 6’3” Build: Tall and very well built, after many years of sports/dancing and mostly fighting. Despite his height, he's actually quite flexible, yet another good thing about his build. Hair: Dark brown, cut short close to his head, but he’s been since letting grow a little more. Eyes: Greenish blue, though very light and ever more present in the rays of light. Accent: French, though it’s slight, not as strong as his sisters and heavily laden with ghetto/street slang. Ethnicity: French/English. Though predominantly French. Other: Having grown up in a wealthy family that made a living of high scale events, he was taught and urged to always keep up to date with fashion, having had a closert full of designer items. Although he still dresses like a rich kid from time to time, he much rather prefers his more casual/Hip-Hop selections that he adopted when he went to college, along as he expanded his taste in music beyond classical music and ballads. Getting into several activities in college, including dance, basketball and soccer, he started to fill out his scrawny figure, having shot straight upwards reaching his six foot three height in the span of two years. Once he started fighting, his body mass only grew heavier and stronger, and with wide set shoulders, he could seem a bit intimidating at first glance. With the amount of clothing he could wear at a time, his muscular build wouldn’t be as apparent, though once he strips to only a tank, it’s made a lot more obvious. Skin deep, he has a lot of scars scattered throughout his body, most of them from his childhood than any actual ‘professional’ fighting. There’s a small one under his right eye that lays horizontally from where his eyes begins to the bridge of his nose and although it’s not as visible at a distance, it’s on the scars he can’t really hide. There are several long gashes on his back and a biggest, deepest one on the back of his left calf where Isaiah stabbed him one time with a letter opener in one of their more explosive fights. As far as tattoos, he has four. One right on top and around his belly button of a hazardous sign that looks like rusted metal almost, and that symbolizes how he believes himself a possible danger, not only because of his family, but because of what he could design weapons wise. A much larger one on his back right between his shoulder blades of a lion’s head, which represents his zodiac sign, Leo; and the last two are of a little she-devil and an angel passively sitting and in thought, the she-devil perched on his left shoulder and the angel on his right one, symbolizing the voice of conscious and of the Seraphine devil. Psychological Personality: Compared to most of his dark and crazy family, Alain can very well be considered the Black Sheep of the Seraphines, but all for different reasons than the term usually implies. Although he can be cold and calculated and seemingly superior to whoever he’s arguing with, it is really only when he’s very passionate about a subject or person or finds that’s he’s right about the subject at hand. Usually however, it’s not hard to find oneself on his good side, being naturally very laid back and easy of mind, it is possible for him to get along with anyone. It is actually one of the more curious things about him, how even after all he’s suffered at the hands of his siblings, leaving him scars deeper than the ones marked on his skin, he is surprisingly optimistic and even light hearted to a point. The main difference is that he’s always had a very logical frame of mind, wise through the experiences life has given him and he knows better than to confuse what happened with his family to good luck he’s found in friends and love. Many others would have crumbled at the hands of Eve and Isaiah, but it sometimes seems as though Alain only grew stronger, always maintaining a certain level of stability that has saved him from going completely crazy himself or breaking down. Unfortunately he underestimates himself too much, still not being able to realize just how much strength is on his side or his potential as a person and that it has nothing to do with his family. The fact that he could turn into one of his siblings is a main fear that constantly hangs over him, usually basing off decisions that are directly the opposite of what they would do. Sometimes it works for the better, but sometimes it doesn’t, though he’s not as quick to realize that. Usually even tempered, it may take a bit to raise it, though once it is, it’s not a pleasant sight; a gene of the Seraphines he did not escape from, the sudden bursts of anger and violence prevalent in most of them. The only difference between Alain and his siblings is that he does not take it out on his loved ones, hitting inanimate objects or walls instead. With friends, it seems as though he has no care in the world, freely joking with them and usually the one to pick up the tab. Compared to the environment he grew up in, Alain’s actually a very loving person, perhaps one of the biggest sweet hearts with girls and even guys, though his affection is conveyed differently with them. Having only very few truly good things in his life, he tends to hold on tight to them and defend them to his dying breath. History: The Seraphine family had been around for a very long time, but it wasn’t until after the second World War that they begun to climb the perpetual ladder of success, wealth and a near impeccable reputation among the high ranks of society. It was into this family of fortune, fame and a name to be regarded as valuable as gold that Alain Olivier was delivered to, the youngest of three already carrying their name with pride. Adele and Remi were very happy to have had him, especially after the scare they endured the first couple of months of Adele’s pregnancy due to complications. Born prematurely and with the umbilical cord tight around his neck, they felt very blessed when after minutes of being released from the hold, he drew in air in his lungs and began to cry. Although detained in critical care for a couple of weeks, by the time they walked out with baby Alain in their arms, he was healthy as ever. The following years of his life were much better as no health issues or concerns arose like the doctors had predicted might have been a possibility. One of them being his brain capacity and functions as a cause for having gone on without oxygen after birth. However, from what they could see, Alain didn’t seem to have that problem, though at the time they could not tell just how incredible his mind would turn out to be. His Primary and Secondary years of school were spent in Muggle schools, at the age of ten realizing his true potential that knocked him straight into Secondary school and had him graduating at age fourteen. Although his parents were excited that he had received a letter from the Wizarding community, they didn’t transfer him to any schools and instead opted to keep him in close quarters with tutors. It was in his early years however, that he learned just what kind of beings (for certainly they’re not human) Eve and Isaiah were. Alain had just turned eight and he had been whining for weeks about wanting a puppy, but his parents were very adamant about not having any kinds of pets in the household. Unable to accept that, one day as he was returning from school, he saw a stray pup and picked him up, taking him home in hopes to convince his parents of keeping the dog. His parents hadn’t yet arrived from the luncheon meeting, so it was just Nanna and his siblings. Unknowing still, he showed the puppy to his siblings who were quick to make fun of him and take it from his hands, exclaiming they needed to ‘look’ it over. It wasn’t until later when he was frantically searching for the dog, that he found it in a puddle of blood, both siblings sniggering and laughing at his reaction. From that day forth he was forbidden from brining in any kinds of pets, Adele training to explain to him as much as she could that it wasn’t his fault or that it was because of him. He never did bring another animal around, so afraid they’d hurt it again and it was since that day that he screamed at them how much he hated them, and it wasn’t just in the heat of anger. It stuck, especially when they decided it would be fun to mess with Alain’s head on a regular basis, often leading him to getting seriously injured or serious trauma. It was one of the reasons why at fifteen when he was presented with moving to a University in Paris, he didn’t even hesitate to take it. Once outside of the oppressive rule of his siblings, he flourished a lot more, stepping out of his anti-social bubble if just a little. There he managed to meet a couple of friends that he kept throughout school mostly, but it was in the summer of his seventeenth birthday, when he returned home on strict request from his father for some high scale function, in which he met a beautiful pureblood witch by the name of Kyle Worthington. They seemed to click immediately, a summer fling quickly arising from it and although they ended it as each went their separate way, they kept in contact mostly by correspondence and is up to date one of his longest lasting friendships. Right after graduation, he returned back home, not much to his liking though, and submerged himself in his own private lab his grandfather had helped setup years before, and began working at all hours of the day, a great way of escaping the family though he lived with them. Through many hours of sweat and hard work, at eighteen he had created his first AI which he named Jeevs. Around that time, his father had insisted his continue Military training and begin tutoring in weapon’s design and technology, a subject Alain had personally hated. Making it seem a lot harder than it was, he purposefully made mistakes left and right in the designs, an action that angered his father and as a result being threatened to be cut off the inheritance. Not that Alain cared much, but the money he did need; after all, working on new technological frontiers wasn’t cheap. The constant disagreements however drifted them farther apart and although his siblings weren’t as often around, they still hounded whenever the mood struck, stress and frustration only getting worse. It was one of the reasons why after a night out with a friend who ended up betting in a fight club, that he started gaining interest in it, only two weeks after entering his first fight. At first, he stayed because of the release it allowed him, of the frustration and the stress, but as he later found that he could make his own money as well, and good amounts at that, he turned a hobby into a covert career, that of which he still is in. About two months ago, after a long chat with a Wizarding ministry official, he decided it was best to continue with magical education, it always having been one of his more apparent weaknesses, and it was especially good because it would take him far from home again. Looking through schools, he found Elysion, the name ringing bell through Kyle’s letters. It is in fact Kyle who convinced him of the final decision to attend Elysion, realizing just how much he had fallen for her over the years through their correspondence, so without a moment of thought, he quickly moved to Greece. His first year was rather eventful. To start off, him and Kyle went from being just friends, to a solid couple. Meanwhile, although with her ex, Gabriel Te'navia, things had started rough (including Alain punching him in the face the first time they met) after having been introduced by a guy named Mack at the fight club, they found they had a lot more in common than previously either would have thought. With time, they had become the best of friends. A lot of the bonding in fact came after the presumed betrayal by the hands of his beloved Kyle Worthington. It was the beginning of the school year, and they had been invited to a Beach Party, which they went as an official couple for the first time among their peers. However, in a moment that he couldn't find her, when he went looking, he found Kyle in the arms of another man tossing in the sand. His heart broke that day, but unable to face it, he got into his car and sped away, never to talk or confront Kyle ever again. It was nearly a year of brooding, misery and constant moments of utter darkness after that day. Alain submersed himself deeper than ever before into the fight club, no longer finding solace in a woman's company other than a one night stand. During this time as well, he began growing closer to his brother's newly wife, Cerises Te'navia, perhaps too close. Though Gabriel would encourage it from time to time, whether jokingly or not, in the end what was a beautiful friendship between the two began to sour the more Isaiah and Eve got involved. It was a serious of eye opening events that led him to distance himself from his family, including Cerise. There was a point in which he was in a stand-still in his life. Unable to go forward, unable to go backward. The routine he made of school, lab, fight club (in that respective order), began to dwindle, especially after having met Viktoria San'ko. The fact that she was unconnected to his family and was a breath of fresh air, made her an ideal companion for most days. Their easy going natures and shy flirtations having led to moments of affection beyond friendship. Thoughts of forming a more solid relationship were often, but even when he tried, he didn't seem ready to take that next step. It was then, as he began to take a deeper look into his life and sorting his priorities that he discovered about Eve's life changing illusion she had done a year ago at the beach. With attempts to strengthen his mind against Eve, he began to train his ability and it was during one of these sessions that he realized the memory he held of that day was indeed an illusion. No one else could pull it off like his dastard sister, so he confronted her, leading to the worst blow out they ever had. In the end, he was all better for it, having been able to stand against most of her mental attacks and it was with that confidence and determination that he went to Nightingale Villa the following week to seek out Sanctuary from Jezebel, which she granted. With a new lease on life, he decided to really focus on school and his own projects outside of the family business. Still however, even as the tides were turning for the better, it was hard to find the courage to approach Kyle with the new found truth. Curiously, it was actually during a test for one of his newer inventions that he crash landed on the rooftop where no other than Kyle was at. There were angry, hurt words thrown about, but also of regret and Alain's explanation of what truly happened. That day, everything had changed between them anew and from there they had decided to start from scratch again and let their relationship take its course, no matter how slow or hesitant it would be at times. Although it took time, but the eventuality happened. Now it seemed they would become official soon again, and between full loaded course work at school, projects at home and helping to run and take care of the M-Tam group, he was at the happiest he had ever been. And although he continued to train with his ability, he had suddenly hit a brick wall, not able to progress any further. Which is why he ended up calling his mentor Roderick Wolfe, who had worked in Cyberdine Industries at one point, and was delighted to find that he had already been in Greece intent on looking Alain up. Things were certainly beginning to look up. As long as a snoopy reporter didn't get the bite he wanted... Family: Maurice Colton: Although he’s not as estranged to him as he is his father, he’s not all that close to him either. He respects him as much as it was instilled in him to do so, but nothing beyond that. Rèmi Toussaint: Having been drilled by his father from early age, he grew a strong dislike towards him and respects him only out of fear and necessity, as he’s the one who usually funds Alain’s obsessions. Adèle Èloise: For a long time, his mother was his comfort away from the rest the mad family, having defended Alain many a time when he was a child. As the years went by however, and Eve and Isaiah become ever more relentless as far as falling victim to Eve’s illusions and manipulations as well, she gave up and stopped fighting them. She became an alcoholic and it was then that he started drifting away from her, some night barely even recognizing his mother. ‘Till this day he still loves her deeply, but is usually weary of her, and that’s something that breaks his heart. Geneviève Jacquez (Eve): There’s not really much to say about her or their relationship other than the fact that he hates her. With every fiber of his being, he just hates her. Isaiah Renaud: Um, see above, pretty much the same thing. Except unlike Eve, Isaiah does know how to push all the right buttons in Alain to get him riled up and loose it. Miscellaneous Pet: None. Though could Jeevs be considered a pet? I doubt it, he’d be offended. Knowledge/Talents: A technological genius, Alain has been proclaimed one of the new frontiers in muggle technology, having created his first AI super computer at eighteen and various other technological advances including concept cars, production machinery, interfaces and even several weapon designs. Aside from being a major geek, he loves to dance, having learned a good majority of hip-hop styles and break dancing while he was in college in Paris. Although as a kid he learned how to dance the waltz (and fencing too), he much prefers jamming to Ciara, 50 cent and Uncle Sam. Magical Weaknesses: Charms, Dueling, and Herbology. Just absolutely hates that subject. Special Ability: Alain, like his sister, father and grandfather, has a formidable mental ability. In plain English, he has the ability to enter someone’s mind and extract information, whether it be on the surface or the subconscious and it’s not limited to memories either, facts and thoughts even. He could choose to take a ‘duplicate’ of the information he’s extracting, or the whole thing without leaving a trace of the information in their mind. In lamus terms, he could choose to either copy or steal information from someone’s head. Aside from extracting, he can also implant ‘fake’ memories/thoughts, though that takes considerably a lot more concentration and energy to accomplish a very good, seamless memory/thought so that the person may not suspect. To use his ability he does not need to be holding the person, or even know them intimately, just as long as he has a good image or hold on that person’s mental signature, he can find them even through state lines. On the other hand, the farther out his target is, the harder it is for him and the more energy and concentration it’ll take out of him. Much like radio waves, when it’s much closer to the main tower, the stronger and more intense is the ‘signal’ and connection. Since a lot of his ability involves entering someone’s mind, his own is left with very low guards and vulnerable, a vacant stare replacing his usual bright one and if he fallen into a coma, he cannot respond while he’s using his power. With no sense of awareness around his body when he’s in someone else’s mind, he can be easily injured and if it’s serious enough while still connected, he probably won’t even realize ‘till it was too late once he returns to his own mind. Although simply hypothetical, it is possible that if he’s killed while connected, that without a body to go back to, that he could take ‘inhabitance’ in someone’s else’s mind. However, he barely uses his ability, if at all, especially after he had witnessed the worst it could do. He was thirteen, having discovered his ability only two years before, and since he was constantly hounded by his siblings to use it and practice, often offering ‘candidates’ to him from school or any enemies they had, but he never wanted any of it. Growing tired of him being a ‘coward’, Eve one day used her own abilities to manipulate him into getting in a fight with a fellow friend. Out of his own control and completely out of it, he used his power on the boy, but instead of entering his mind and extracting/implanting, in the heat of anger, he had wiped out the boy’s mind entirely, becoming comatose in the next minute. Once he was relieved from Eve’s control, he realized what happened as he stared into a pair of clouded and absolutely vacant eyes that were once from a good friend and it literally made him sick. It was an incident he never really has been able to live down, still feeling the guilt and the sadness of it some nights that he cries in his dreams. Since that day however, he never used his ability out of his will again. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to him, Eve still manipulates him to use his ability, especially through sleep where she has found it’s much easier since he’s guard isn’t as tight and when he rarely suspects it, finding that waking up tired is normal after working hours and hours in the lab. Currently, the ‘tired’ mornings are happening again, as Eve has found a new target in an asylum not too far from Elysion, and that fact that he’s so much closer to the target makes it better. However, because of the fact that he barely uses his ability, he has very little to next to no control over it, very undeveloped and rough all along the edges. Which ironically, still not having realized it, leaves him much more vulnerable to Eve or anyone else who could manipulate him. Notes: [JT] A less known fact about Alain is the fact that he has very poor eye sight. Although he as a pair of black frame glasses, he usually wears contacts, including a pair he designed for night time specifically. |
