Personal Information Name: Lola Katharine Stone Nickname: Lotus Flower, only by her family. Everyone else call her Lola… Except Anderson, who calls her Katharine. Gender: Female. Age: 22 Birthday: April 20th. Blood: Half-blood. Wand: Cherry wood with unicorn hair core; 7 inches; springy. Academic Information Year: 10th. Level of Study: Undergraduate Degree: Bachelor of Humanities Major: Muggle Studies Previous Schooling: Charles A Lindbergh School (until age 11); Rainbow Lagoon Preparatory Academy for the Magically Gifted (ages 11 – 17); UCLA (Muggle University) – Sociology Major, graduated with honors with an AA. Physical Description: Height: 5’6” Build: 135 pounds; average build. Hair: Naturally mahogany. Eyes: Bluish-gray. Voice: Lola’s voice is nothing out of the ordinary, though it tends to be gravelly in a sexy kind of way. Pitch tends to the lower side of the scale, especially when tired. Ethnicity: Caucasian (American, from Long Beach, CA). Other: Lola is of average height and weight, but feels that she has chubby cheeks, which she kind of does. Swimming, dancing, and riding her bike keeps her in shape. Her mahogany hair is mid-length, reaching to the middle of her back, and she usually wears it down. It’s slightly wavy, holding curls well. Every now and then she’ll dye it blonde or dark red, but it’s been a couple of years since she’s done it. Her eyes are expressive and wide, bluer when she’s happy and grayer when she’s not. Eyebrows are kept perfectly plucked – Lola cannot stand unkempt eyebrows. She has 2 earrings in each ear – one in each lobe and one each in the top cartilage. There is a tattoo on the small of her back of a lotus flower, representing the nickname her father gave her as a child. Wardrobe has never been Lola’s main concern. She’s quite casual in her dress; jeans, T-shirts, and dresses are bought at surf shops and thrift stores. Many of her shirts bear band logos, especially Sublime, her number one obsession. She also likes shirts with witty sayings. Her feet are usually clad in Puma sneakers now that she’s in Greece, but she prefers flip-flops, sandals, and going barefoot. Her fingernails and toenails are always painted, often in funky colors. Psychological Personality: Lola is quite the force to be reckoned with. Curious, energetic, always trying something – or someone – new. Unfortunately, she gets bored with her new things rather quickly and moves on, leaving unfinished projects and dumped men in her wake. She’s forthcoming and direct. Lola wants what she wants when she wants it and has no hidden agendas or ulterior motives. As a child, she was confident and open to new ideas and situations, which has carried over to her adult life. She’s always been very ‘tell it like it is’ and doesn’t feel bad letting people know her feelings. Lola has a competitive nature, mostly seen in the classroom. The romance department is a bit tricky. Lola has never been in love, but lust will get her nearly every time. She likes to call the shots but will go to extremes to make sure her partner’s needs and desires are met. Until she’s done that is. It’s a bit like cat and mouse. Lola pounces and plays with her new toy until it gets boring, then moves on. She’s magnetic and intense, preferring strong partners as well as strong friends that are willing to at least give her the impression that she’s in control. As long as relationships (platonic and romantic) continue to evolve, Lola stays interested and loyal. But know when to back off and give her space, or you’ll be in for a Hellish fight History: The third Stone child and baby girl, Lola was born to Bradley and Catherine Stone on April 20th – forcing her mother to be rushed to hospital right in the middle of a family get-together. She’s been in the spotlight of the family (and anywhere else she goes) ever since. Her father is Muggle-born, her mother a half-blood, both from upper-middle class incomes. Lola grew up in Long Beach, CA in an eclectic mix of the Muggle and Wizarding worlds. Addison is her eldest sister, five years older than her. Addie and Lola get on all right, but often fight because of their strong personalities. Her other older sister, Fairuza, was born two years before her. They get along quite well, considering Fairy is more submissive to Lola’s controlling traits. Fairy is often mistaken for the younger of the two, as she is more of a sidekick than an older sister to Lola. The younger Stone girls are nearly inseparable and have gotten into plenty of close calls (and tons of trouble with the parents) over the years. Fairy’s main excuse is, “Lola made me do it” – and she’s not lying. The youngest Stone sibling, Quintan, was born a year after Lola. When she was seven (he 6), tragedy struck the family. Out riding his bicycle on their street one summer day, Quint was run over by a hit-and-run driver. The entire family was devastated, but Lola was really hit hard with her brother’s death. Her personality changed slightly, becoming a bit more withdrawn. Even now, she keeps most of her deepest, important thoughts to herself. At age 11, Lola received her letter from Rainbow Lagoon Preparatory Academy for the Magically Gifted. Thrilled to be going to “witch school” with fairy and Addison, Lola jumped into her magical education feet first and didn’t look back. Rainbow Lagoon was only about 20 minutes away from the family home, but it was far away enough for Lola to feel that she was “on her own.” She thrived, especially in Muggle Studies, and in her 5th year found her passion for sociology; she wants to know what makes people tick. When Lola was 13, she discovered another talent: waterbending. One rainy day, she stepped in a deep puddle, all but ruining her school shoes. Mad at herself for not watching where she was going (not to mention squishy, soggy feet), she unconsciously “shooed” the water from her socks and shoes and almost fell over. It had worked! Shocked, she looked around, but no one had seen what she’d done. Taking her hands and holding them over the offending puddle, she tried to move the water somehow. It worked again, much to her surprise and glee, and she was off and running with her new-found power. She still screws up now and then and is still unable to control a body of water larger than a lake, but she trains daily. After Rainbow Lagoon, Lola decided to go to a Muggle university. She enrolled at UCLA where she graduated with honors from their Sociology program. Now wanting to really learn the Wizarding take on her favourite subject, she researched universities and chose Elysion as her new stomping grounds. She’s been in Greece for a year now, and a tumultuous year it has been. Lola still flourishes when it comes to schoolwork, but got quite distracted in the beginning by Mack Murphy. They became serious quickly, but broke it off when Mack decided to join the military. He wanted Lola to come with him – as his fiancée, which totally freaked her out. Soon after she and Mack broke up, Lola met an interesting character by the name of Anderson Braithwaite. They never really defined their relationship, but saw each other frequently. Once Anderson was called away on assignment, Lola realized just how much she liked him. Warning bells are screaming in her head (a serious relationship, again?!) but she’s not focusing on the future and is living in the right now. Family: Bradley Cooper Stone – father Catherine Marie Stone – mother Addison Marie – eldest sister, age 25 Fairuza Cooper – older sister, age 23 Quintan Bradley – younger brother (deceased at age 6) Miscellaneous Pet: 6-month old male Bengal kitten named Quint, in memory of her brother. Knowledge/Talents: Dabbles in acoustic guitar; has a knack for any and all (especially useless) trivia; excellent swimmer. Smokes cigarettes and has become quite the drinker, though she’s pretty good at being moderate. Magical Weaknesses: Special Ability: Hydrokinesis (Waterbending) Like the moon controlling the tides, Waterbenders use their chi to control the gravitational effect on water. In contrast to Fire and Earthbending, Waterbending's strength is its defensive capabilities. Waterbenders redirect the energy from an opponent's attack and use it against him. But Waterbending's intent is to control opponents, not to harm them. The style is evolved from ancient healing practices where the healer redirects energy paths in the body to cure an ailment. A Waterbender's control of water in liquid, solid, and gas form offers him many defensive maneuvers. He may stop an attacker by encasing his feet in ice, or escape by creating a screen of steam for cover. In a fight, a Waterbender suspends a body of water around his fighting stance, and then lashes out with water whips and powerful waves. If there's no water at the scene of a fight, a Waterbender collects all the available moisture from the air and ground around him and concentrates it into an amount of suitable to attack and defend. As a backup, a Waterbender always carries a skin of water. While reliance on a water source is a significant weakness of the style, Waterbending at its highest skill level contains the most powerful technique among all the Bending Arts. At close ranges, an expert Waterbender uses an opponent's body against them. They harness the ample amount of water within the human body to control an opponent like a puppet master. The tendencies to control rather than destroy, and to heal rather than harm, embody the humane and noble characteristics of the Water Tribes. Notes: [JT] |
