Slowly the truth is loading
I'm weighted down with love
Snow lying deep and even
Strung out and dreaming of

Raine slipped quietly through the door of the castle, closing the smooth, polished oaken slab behind her silently and stepping out onto the soft grass. It spread before her like green velvet, rippling in the light. The sun was setting on Greece, cool midnight blues ushering the warm sunbeams from the sky to make way for the full moon. Raine made her way swiftly across the grounds, heading straight for the place where she and Orion had arranged to meet earlier that day. A small bubble of anticipation rose in her chest as she thought of Orion, a secret smile weaving its way onto her face. She stopped by the forest and turned around to look back at the castle, wondering whether she would see Orion following her or not. It was about the time they had arranged; sunset, and so he shouldn’t be too far behind her.

Night falling on the city
Sparkling red and gold
Don’t it just look so pretty
This disappearing world

And as the sun set, the shadows began to lengthen, the castle’s walls being swallowed by a veil of black. The landscape was slowly drained of colour, slipping into white, grey and black, or a mixture of the three distinct groups. Turning back to stare at the tops of the woods, Raine saw the canopy alight with the last colour of the day, as thought there were a fire spreading through the trees. She moved on, hurrying forwards as she made her way nearer and nearer to the tree line. The shadows crept out to meet her, dark tendrils reaching out and gently caressing the bottom hem of the pale lemon dress she was wearing. Stopping on the spot, Raine took a deep breath and looked cautiously around. The woods weren’t forbidden here, but there was still a curfew for the younger years, and she didn’t think they’d look too kindly on a student wandering away from school so close to bedtime. Looking back down at the darkness by her feet, Raine suddenly trembled. She didn’t want to enter it alone, without Orion. It came to pass, then, that when Autumn intervened Raine was almost happy to let her take over. At least for a little while.

They’re threading hope like fire
Down through the desperate blood
Down through the trailing wire
Into the leafless wood

The subtle changes occurred, unnoticed by anyone but the whispering trees; a change of wand in her pocket, shifting from her left to her right, and a slight narrowing of the eyes were all that happened. Small, subtle indications that Autumn had arrived. Not many people knew to recognise them, because there were only a select few people who even knew about her… condition. Orion was one of those few, and he could usually tell immediately. Luckily, he hadn’t turned and left when she had told him, or she didn’t know how well she would have coped. For Autumn was a rather bizarre aspect of her personality which had not showed itself till recently. One thing that was good was she wanted Orion just as much as Raine, though it may be in a slightly different way, and that meant that she wouldn’t do anything to harm him or chase him away.

I'll be sticking right there with it
I'll be by your side
Sailing like a silver bullet
Hit ‘em ‘tween the eyes

Autumn took one green-eyed glance about her and then skipped merrily over the invisible border, through the shadows and into the woods. She could feel Raine there inside, not relenting for a moment. If she concentrated enough, Autumn knew that Raine could now watch her goings-on, and if the need arose, could probably push her back out again. She’d better be good. A rather evil grin flitted over her features before she innocently wiped it away and skidded to a halt just a short way into the trees, by a large stump. With trunks towering all about her tiny, delicate figure, Autumn was like a toy doll standing there. After a look around and seeing no Orion yet, she placed her palms on the sides of the trunk and then lifted herself up onto it, scraping her dress against the bark as she did so. Once up, she dangled her feet over the edge and reached into the pocket of her overcloak, bringing out her wand and pulling up the hem of her dress high onto her lap, leaving her legs bare to the cool, evening air. Inspecting the tear carefully, she wondered absently whether she could fix it.

Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry
You don’t know how lovely you are

Orion had asked Raine to meet him that evening as he’d managed to catch up with her in the university’s lounge earlier. Meeting her in person did not happen often enough for Orion’s liking; they had only the odd Care of Magical Creatures lesson together, and there was never any certainty of getting a chance to talk to her then, for he’d found out that the ageing professor of the subject still had remarkably good hearing. Sending a letter would not have seemed right to him; while some might have seen it as romantic, he preferred to do things in person. Now Orion waited for the time he’d said to meet at, feelings of impatience and eagerness ebbing and flowing within him, like the sea lapping at the beach where he sat. Whenever the anticipation rose in a glorious crescendo, he could not help a smile creeping onto his face, and as the sun sank lower over the sea, infusing it with pinks, purples and deep reds, Orion found himself smiling more.

I had to find you, tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Finally the sun sank low enough for Orion to judge it to be time to set off for the forest where he’d agreed to meet Raine; a little clearing into the trees where a big stump stood, its proud tree long since gone. He twirled a rose gently between his fingers, watching the air softly brush its petals, the evening light deepening the already blood-red hue even more, as he entered the forest. He’d picked the rose earlier from Elysion’s rose garden, for while he realised it was probably not put there to supply students with presents, it was for a good cause. Coming from the beach, Orion would have taken a different path towards the trees to Raine’s, and so he was not surprised that he didn’t see her walking along somewhere behind or in front. Still, he momentarily felt some trepidation wash through him, as he wondered if she would come or not.

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart

Walking through the silent woods, Orion drew closer to the small clearing. The Greek wood was airy and open; still light between the trunks beneath the canopy even as the sun gave a final, defiant fanfare of light before slipping over the skyline totally, so Orion had no trouble finding his way. He wondered if it would be Autumn or Raine that greeted him tonight – it had definitely been Raine that had agreed to the meeting, but he had no idea which personality would manifest herself with him tonight. Standing at the edge of the clearing for a second, Orion took in the scene. The girl – Autumn, Orion guessed, since the wand she was holding was in her right hand – was sad astride the stump, concentrating intently on the cool yellow dress she was wearing, hair cascading over her shoulders and shining in the half light. While the colours drained out of everything around them, Autumn managed to seem to retain hers; the pale rosy glow of her cheeks, the pink-brown sheen to her hair, and most noticeably – her vivid green eyes. Hoping not to startle her out of her concentration, Orion crossed over to the stump, stepping on a stick which broke with a soft crack as he passed.

Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Smiling as he approached, Orion felt strangely calm considering the feelings that had been welled up in him on the beach. “You look beautiful, Autumn,” he said genuinely in a soft voice, meeting her eyes and offering her the rose with a small smile. He hoped his own appearance – his usual unkempt, spiky hair, a pale blue shirt and slacks, did not show her up too much. “Thanks for coming… I hope you haven’t been waiting for me for too long?” Noticing what she had been concentrating on, he looked concerned that he’d indirectly caused her to rip her dress. “Unfortunately I can’t heal clothes…” he said, jokingly wistfully. “I can have a go at mending that though if you’d like?” he asked, reaching in his pocket for his wand.

[dohtml]
We're just who we are, there's no pretending;
It takes a while to learn to live in your own skin.

So intent was she on her hem that Autumn did not notice him arrive until he stepped upon the branch which littered the ground. Presence alerted, he had no chance to sneak up on her, and Autumn lowered the lemony fabric just a lad as she lifted her head and gazed in his direction. His tousled hair shone an iridescent white as the early moon brushed it with silver beams, highlighting his two-toned blue eyes. Large green eyes watched him progress towards her, tall and comforting in his casual clothes. Autumn wasn’t ready to talk first, and so she simply smiled, lips curving up at the corners in a warm and genuine way. Autumn wasn’t normally the most honest person, but she was definitely more than a little fond of Orion. At least Raine had picked well in one aspect of her life; thank Bob for small miracles.

Say a prayer that we might find our happy ending,
And if you're in, you know I'm in, I'm ready and I'm willing.

The compliment accompanied the beautiful rose which was held out towards her, petals blood-red against Orion’s fair skin. Autumn’s smile only increased as she leaned forwards a little and dropped the hem with one hand, reaching out for the rose and then pulling back to delicately brush the petals, cupping the head of the rose in her palm. Orion continued in his fine voice and Autumn’s attention was hooked, just like that. He could usually match her stride for stride, and he always knew when she had arrived – basically, he was an amazing find of Raine’s, especially since he knew about them and he still stayed around. “Just long enough that I was beginning to miss you,” she teased playfully, keeping her eyes on the rose as she smiled coyly.

I'll be there to be that someone,
When you think that no one, is there to hold your hand.

Toying with the hem of her dress, Autumn swung her legs gently to and fro, flat shoes hitting the tree stump with a gentle thump. “Why, that’s mighty kind of you to offer, sir, but are you sure you can help from all the way over there?” She inquired, gazing up at him through dark lashes. Laying the rose upon her lap, she shifted slightly upon the thick tree stump and patted the wood beside her. Then, with a come hither stare, she replaced her hand on her lap. “After all, I’m getting cold sitting over here all on my own,” she added with a smiling pout and a hint of a frown playing on her brow. Let the games begin.

And I ain’t got no halo hanging over my head;
I ain’t gonna judge you, I'm just here to love you.

I Am

Right now I feel just like a leaf on a breeze
Who knows where it's blowin'
Who knows where it's goin'

Autumn’s smile was a wonderful thing for Orion to see; it held no hint of malice or even mischief, which Orion knew she was perfectly capable of, it was a natural, happy smile, and he’d caused it. A small thing perhaps, but it mattered to him. Already Orion felt at ease around Autumn, the gnawing anticipation and worry had deserted him, and it had been replaced by tranquil calm, only disturbed by the ripples of delight that came when she received his rose and gently caressed it in her hand, the ripped dress momentarily forgotten. He’d spent a good half an hour scrabbling around in the rose gardens trying to find a bloom that was perfect; freshly opened, deep red and with soft petals. Orion smiled a little as she cupped the bloom, wondering which would come out on top if the softness of the petals and Autumn’s skin were compared. ’She might as well be made of rose petals’ he mused contentedly.

I find myself somewhere I never thought I'd be
Going round in circles
Thinking about you and me

Eyes never leaving the rose, she began the light teasing that seemed to be Autumn’s calling card around him. She was quick-witted and original in her teasing too, which made the whole experience more fun and interesting. She didn’t mention the rose, she didn’t need to. Orion knew she’d liked it from the way she’d smiled and was still gazing at it. “Ah, I was just on time then,” he said with a charming grin, following her eyes down to the rose, wondering if the saying ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ actually had any truth in it for a second.

Hey, I've never felt something so strong, oh no
It’s like nothing I've ever known

Orion’s offer got a question in return, and he cocked his head to one side, regarding her with an amused smile as she swung her legs back and forth on the tree stump. “Sir?” he asked, quirking an eyebrow in a mock quizzical manner, before smiling wider, nobody had ever called him sir with such sincerity before, and Autumn hadn’t even meant it. “I’m sure I could try ma’am, though I can’t promise I could hit your dress from here. Did you have something else in mind?” Her actions were playful, active, yet she always exuded a feeling of calm, or so Orion perceived. He matched her polite way of replying despite his broadly smiling expression, eyes shining happily in the new moonlight. Whether in answer or not, she shuffled across to leave some room on the stump for Orion to sit, and beckoned him over. Her stare might as well have fixed a hook in him and reeled him in, for he moved on command, crossing the small distance and hopping slightly up to the stump, his taller frame having no problem getting up.

Now you're the one I'm looking for
You're the one I need
You're the one that gives me a reason to believe

Autumn’s frowning face and pout was enough to melt Orion’s kind heart, only increasing the feelings he had for her as her face performed the irresistible expressions. Nobody could say no to that innocent face and big, pretty eyes, least of all Orion. Seated next to her, he reached out to clasp her hand, feeling that it was fairly cold. “We can’t have that, can we” he said, withdrawing his hand from her lap, catching his hand on a thorn of the rose and flinching, scratching it slightly as he did so. Reaching behind her and trying not to get any of the few drops of blood that were glistening there on her dress, he put his arm around her and pulled her closer into him. “Any better? So, do you think I can mend your dress from here, ma’am?” he asked, emphasising the last word in a joking tone. With his free hand, he held his wand out, poised to re-stitch the rip in the fabric if she wanted him to.

Good as gold, but stupid as mud
He'll carry on regardless

Autumn couldn’t help but smirk as he made some comment about not being able to hit her dress from where he was. However, apparently gathering her true meaning up and reining it in, Orion walked over to her and sat down upon the stump. Still glowing in the moonlight, his hair brightened her vision and his face was wreathed in smiles. She gazed up at him, as always struck by the way he managed to disarm her. It was hard to be selfish and manipulative around him – he just seemed to emanate all that which was the opposite of these things, repelling them. He brought out the best in her, thought it was completely against her will. Either he was a complete innocent fool, and had no idea what ‘Autumn’ was really like, or he was clever, and somehow managed to turn her personality around in a completely different direction.

Tried to smile and he bit his tongue
But carry on regardless

No matter, she could still play the guilt/pathetic card. Orion reached over and cradled her hand in his, then removed it again at her words. She could see his emotions pouring out through his eyes; not taken in by her pretence at sadness, but still moved by it. Curious green eyes watched as his finger scraped on a thorn and he flinched. Autumn made no move of compassion, no mention of regret that his finger now dripped blood. Instead, in a very Autumnish way, as Orion enclosed her with his arms, she retrieved her wand from her cloak pocket. “Wingardium leviosa.” She stated the words simply, watching with a rather matter-of-fact air as the rose on her lap swung into the sky and settled high above their heads as Orion spoke.

I don't want silver, I just want gold
Bronze is for the sick and the old
But carry on regardless

Ignoring him for the moment, Autumn fixed the offending rose with a vibrant stare, a deafening calm spreading through her body. All of a sudden, the rose burst into flames, spreading a warm, golden glow across their pale faces. “There,” she said with satisfaction, glad to have given the rose its just desserts. Tilting her head towards Orion, still gazing upwards as his face was so high, Autumn contemplated his hair. The moonlight had been banished, and replaced by gold, the high flames warming the hues of his hair until the strands shone like the sun. A content smile crossed her face and she dropped her gaze a little, to look into his eyes. “I’d like you to mend it, please.” She said softly, quietly, blinking a little as small fragments of ash began to flutter down around them. The rose was still happily burning above them, its slowly shrivelling head pointed to the sky as it became a finite lantern for their enjoyment.

The hill to happiness is far too steep
I'll carry on regardless

Dropping her head to eye the hem, Autumn shifted closer into Orion’s embrace, waiting for his wand to mend the dress; she didn’t want to miss this. She loved watching things weaving themselves together, and it was the reason she enjoyed sewing. But right now, she would let Orion prove his worth as the man she had chosen. Resting her soft hair against his side, Autumn tucked her hands in her lap and spoke as she waited. “Why did you ask me out here, Orion?” The rose was still crackling softly above them, adding a certain atmosphere to their otherwise dark surroundings. So what if he hadn’t asked her to meet him, she thought with a slight frown; she was just as much a part of this body as Raine.

I want my sun-drenched, wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss
Not in the next life
I want it in this

Orion craned his head back slightly to examine the scratch on his finger. It was nothing significant; barely more than a pinprick, with a hemispherical spot of blood sitting on his finger tip. He wondered if Autumn had noticed anything amiss as he’d cut it, she hadn’t commented, though Orion felt her shift within his arms. Now ignoring the cut, he watched, interested as she instructed the flower to levitate above them. The way she’d spoken had been like a calm order, and it was as if the flower had jumped in the air to avoid displeasing Autumn. Wondering what was coming next, Orion met her eyes with a curious expression, but she was focused elsewhere. After failing to get her attention, Orion followed her intent gaze upwards to the rose.

As Orion fixed the flower in his vision, the petals now looking a dark black in the night-time darkness, there was a flare of light, and orange flames engulfed the flower. Awed, Orion watched the petals slowly fail to defy the flames and curl and char, one by one, reduced to Ashes. The fire was small but intense, and Orion could feel the heat of it from where he sat on the stump, it’s light illuminating Autumn and himself, and the rest of the clearing. The finality of Autumn’s voice returned his gaze and thoughts to her. She was pyrokinetic, or had some power derived from it, for she had not moved her wand or uttered a spell to light the fire. He’d had no idea about her ability, and had never thought of asking ‘til now, assuming it was shared with Raine’s. Also, her tone, her satisfied expression, spoke of having settled some personal vendetta against the flower.

Feeling the sting of his finger end settled the solution in his mind; she’d done it as punishment, retribution against the rose for hurting him? It was bizarre but seemed to fit Autumn’s methods and personality, and despite the lost effort he’d put into finding the bloom, he let his lips ease into a small, gratified smile. “Thanks…” he said slowly, still slightly awed by the events, and by the reflection of fire dancing in Autumn’s eyes. It… belonged in her. “Next time I’ll go with lilies I think,” he said, recovering a little of his sense of humour. “I’ll just mend my finger first…” he said, wondering if Raine had divulged any information about his healing abilities to Autumn.

He held his arm out in front of Autumn, reaching around her. Shutting his eyes, he reached for the power in his mind, and focused some of the energy on his finger end. Despite the tiny injury, the characteristic bright white light that always appeared when he used his power swathed his arm, and the drying smudge of blood was drawn back in, the skin knitting neatly back together after it. His turn at displaying his power over, he flexed his finger, then took up his wand, taking aim at the tear in her dress. “Reparo” he said quietly, then watched as the dress began to re-stitch itself, eliminating the tear. When all settled down again, he brushed the soft fabric, making sure it was smooth and properly done. “All done, m’lady” he said, settling back to just embracing Autumn.

He knew they would have to get to the point eventually, though Autumn had the habit of being fairly direct and to the point at times, so he was not entirely surprised when she asked him why he’d asked her out here. He’d been expecting Raine, but what he had to say involved them both. Ignoring the question for a second, he glanced up to the hovering embers of the rose, crackling and glowing, and resolved to never give Autumn a reason to give him the same treatment the rose had received. “I need a reason to ask to meet you?” he asked teasingly, returning to the matter at hand. “As it happens, I did have one though, other than to give you flowers.” He took a breath, wondering how to take the plunge and voice his feelings. “I have something to tell you, and Raine too” he began. “I asked you to meet me… so I could tell you how I feel, how you feel, and how I’d like things to be between us.” In a vain hope of putting off the subject until he could broach it on his own terms, whenever that would be, he changed the subject. “I didn’t know you were pyrokinetic?” he asked, for the first time around Raine or Autumn, trying to prompt a discussion about their powers.

There you see her
Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to say
But there's something about her

Orion was pleased by her revenge on the rose; she could see it in his smile. His voice was slow and gentle, dipping and floating on the cool evening air. “Lilies sound nice,” she responded happily, corners of her lips curving up into a small smile as he joked with her. It was good about him, that he seemed to understand why she was the way she was and yet not condemn her for it; occasionally teasing her in a rather attractive manner, but nothing more. Orion mentioned that he was about to mend his finger and she nodded her pink-brown head of hair, silken strands falling across his arm as he stretched it out and around her. He could have merely been mending it with a non-verbal spell, but she knew that his power was healing; it had been the first time Raine had met Orion.

Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possible she wants you too
There is one way to ask her

Autumn was not entirely sure if either of them knew just how much she gleaned of the outside world when she wasn’t out, but it was more than either gave her credit for. Their condition wasn’t split personalities; it was combined personalities. Raine had, of course, been shut out at first, but that was simply because Autumn knew and she didn’t. Now they both knew, they could communicate with each other a little, and Raine especially liked to get Autumn out of the way as soon as she had been weakened in the body. She had not had chance to begin strengthening her hold because Raine always cut her off, but Autumn thought this was a little unfair. She wasn’t EVIL was she? Well, maybe she was, but she mainly just liked mischief, and being with Orion.

My oh my
Look like the boy too shy
Ain't gonna kiss the girl

Green eyes lifted up and gazed at him reproachfully, unsure why he had taken up her mock-courteous title and kept it up. Was he mocking her? The thought caused her eyes to narrow gently, frown lines wrinkling across her pale forehead as she gazed up at him, trying to gauge his reactions. It was hard for her; the reason she was so abrupt and so confused at times, was because she had never been practised in the art of socialising, stuck up there in a segment of the brain and all. It wasn’t very fun to be trapped up there with no outlet, so it wasn’t a surprise that she was feisty, either. Orion was gazing down at her dress now, finally relenting and mending her dress.

Ain't that sad?
Ain't it a shame?
Too bad, he gonna miss the girl

The dress was knitted over beautifully, the pale lemon stitching together with such ease and eloquence that her mild annoyance was wiped away and Autumn was happy again. So were the swift changes of her mood. A fiery temper which flew up and down; no matter her faults, Autumn wasn’t spiteful and she didn’t hold a grudge. She merely flew off the handle then floated back down. The only problem you had was if you were caught in the firing line, for she could do fair damage for someone so small. But Autumn had found, much to her dismay, that if someone made her smile or simply care, she could be brought back down much more quickly.

Now's your moment
Boy you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you kiss the girl

Orion stroked the fabric of her dress with a soft motion of his hand, smoothing it down against her legs with such joyous innocence that Raine had to let out a chuckle. Uh, did I say Raine? Damn I actually meant Autumn, though I guess we could go with that… Get out! Autumn snarled through her head, though her visage stayed calm and her hands merely played delicately with one of the various spots of ash which now stained her dress. No way was Raine coming back now, not before she got to hear what Orion was saying in person. She didn’t want to sit back and let Raine get all the glory, Raine always had the glory when it came to Orion. She always pushed Autumn out of the way just before their lips met, just as he pulled her into an embrace, just as he looked at her with those big blue eyes. Not today. Autumn pouted. They were fighting silently over control, but Autumn was stubborn and resilient, and she had decided that there was no way she was going back in right now.

Don't be scared
You got the mood prepared
Go on and kiss the girl

Orion stumbled his adorable way along the sentence, and Autumn found herself smirking again, wondering how exactly he was going to tell her how she felt. But saying this out loud would merely prolong the time before she got to hear his words, and she wasn’t a patient woman; when had she ever made him think that? Autumn stayed silent, staring up at him calmly, an encouraging expression etched upon her features. His words suddenly evolved into a discussion about her powers and, despite her annoyance that the boy had moved the subject along again, she attempted to hide it. She couldn’t hang on here forever. She directed her gaze at her lap, knowing that he would protest against the question, but still feeling the need to say it. If she was only going to guilt this out of him, that was the way she would go. “If I told you I was one, would that change your feelings about me? Because I don’t see how it’s important otherwise.” But despite her best efforts tone was cold, too cold; and Autumn immediately reached out a hand to grasp his that was not draped around her shoulders. She laced her delicate fingers into his, stroking his skin that matched hers in paleness then turning to look up at him once more.

Float along
And listen to the song
The song say kiss the girl

Come on, say it! she urged with bright green eyes, gazing up at him, trying to keep concentration as Raine battered through her thoughts. Brushing a strand of hair from her face, she watched his face imploringly, waiting to hear this exciting revelation. Which was so obviously going to be followed by a kiss. It was a promise held in his eyes and God knows she was going to be there when it happened.

There is one way to ask her
It don't take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl

With her dress finished, Autumn went through a range of expressions, first rewarding Orion’s efforts with a hearty chuckle as he brushed her leg, smoothing the fabric against it. “Sorry, that didn’t tickle did it?” he asked, a mischievous smirk twitching at his face as he made plans to do it again, though Autumn suddenly seemed to become detached, focusing solely on the flecks of ash that littered her dress without speaking, but not looking upset or angry, just… calm. After a moment or two of pouting in the adorably beautiful way she did, while Orion wondered what was going through her head, she was back to smirking while he spoke. Despite his comfort around Autumn, Orion felt his face grow warmer as he spoke, surely he must sound like an idiot dithering like this, beating around the bush as he was.

Autumn’s sharp reply was not what he’d expected at all, and as the cold words sunk in, his gaze slid down to the ground, looking away from Autumn and kicking himself for trying to dodge the subject. Kicking hard. About to reply and try and ease Autumn’s obvious annoyance, he was cut short before he’d begun by Autumn’s hard touching his, holding it, her fingers slipping around his, calmingly stroking the back of his hand. Looking back up at Autumn, Orion knew now that she hadn’t meant to snap, no words were needed to accompany the actions. Relieved now, he returned the rhythmic stroking motion on her hand.

She gazed up at him, her vivid green eyes melting through his resistance and awkwardness like hot knives through butter. Hot, beautiful, green knives, he thought, relaxing again, the crestfallen look that had flitted across his countenance at her words gone now. Shuffling around so he faced her more, he saw her push a lock of loose hair away from her face. Gently unwinding his hand from hers, he reached to her face moved the same strand of hair, feeling it soft and silky beneath his fingertips as he pushed aside with a careful motion, brushing her cheek as he slowly withdrew his hand. He paused though, and unable to resist her urgent stare any longer, kissed her. Shocked and elated in an instant, he was surprised by his own actions for the slightest fraction of time, before he settled into the idea, praising instinctive reactions for doing what needed to be done.

Smiling as he moved away, he stayed just a few inches from her face, his thoughts racing. With a pause of only a couple of seconds, and barely trusting his voice to work, he quietly breathed the words, “I love you…” to Autumn, his voice quiet but the words sounding like bells in his head. Sighing with relief and anxiety, he pushed a strand of his own hair from his eyes, revelling in what he’d said and barely believing it.

I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
And I just wanna stay with you

Hmmm sorry for taking so long on this, guess we can wrap it up and have a different one once I'm back from Holiday? ^_^

The soft touch at her cheek was accompanied by a hesitation which Autumn was not prepared for. She had meant to urge him on in his revelation, not keep him from saying it out loud. She tilted her head slightly and gave him a look of slight confusion, her green eyes glittering against the slowly burning rose. Then, completely out of the blue, Orion swooped down and delivered a kiss that knocked all of the impatience right out of her. Her lips slowly but surely curved up at the edges, smiling with a pleasant surprise that he would unknowingly grant her wish before he said anything. Her eyes closed on the world as she caught herself up in the moment. It was only a few blissful moments before she felt the soft tugging at her conscious and Autumn slipped away quite peacefully into a wealth of happiness as Orion kissed her.

As Orion pulled away, her eyes fluttered open again, taking in the sight of his pale features just inches away. And then he said it, that thing which she had spent all night hoping to hear, though never sure that this was what he was going to say. Her breath caught in her throat and for a moment she could do nothing but sit there, tears welling slowly in her eyes. Then, after she managed to take in a slow, steadying breath, she replied. “I… love you too.”

And then Raine smiled, her features lighting up with utter joy as the flaming rose above mixed with her unshed tears and caused a rainbow to arch across Orion’s face. With a soft chuckle, she lifted a hand to brush away her tears and then she flung her arms around Orion’s neck, drawing him close to her and burying her face into his shoulder. Oh, what a night.

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

With those words out in the open, Orion momentarily felt a calm sensation spread through him, which was just as quickly replaced by a rushing tide of gnawing worry and anxiety – would she accept his words? They seemed remarkably small now that their echoes had died down. Those three words could change everything, for the better, yes, but also for the worse. Silence reigned for an eternity, while Orion waited for some, any response. A look to Autumn would usually steady him, and lend him some calm, but until he got something, reciprocation, denial, any kind of sign, he almost shook with anticipation. Finally, his slowed sense of time allowed him to perceive the signs of Autumn’s reaction; her breath caught and tears perched, ready to drop.

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

Finally she spoke, and Orion had never heard words so sweet. The simple words held a wealth of feeling and meaning for him, and immediately banished the apprehension of only seconds before. His relief and happiness showed on his face; he smiled wholeheartedly, not able to smile wide enough to convey just how glad he was to be hearing Autumn’s words. What his smile lacked, his eyes more than made up for – brightly glittering with unbridled delight and emanating love for the girl who had just thrown her slender arms around his neck, chuckling into his shoulder. Orion’s own arms encompassed Autumn’s frame easily and pulled her even closer than she was managing to do herself. He found himself wondering if anyone could ever persuade him to let go.

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

He did ease up the pressure a little though, enough to let her gently back so he could see eye to eye with her, and look into those emerald eyes she kept him entranced with. Gently brushing a lock of hair aside from her face, he stroked her cheek, and kissed her again; a kiss that was full of fire and passion to match the flaming rose above them. Tonight was perfect for him.

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?
