The afternoon sun was held high in the clear sky and a strong breeze cooled what had the potential to be a scorching hot lunchtime. The streets of Alectrona were crowded. The tiny shops that lined the main street were saturated with customers, the queues of some stores twisting out on to the pavement. With the start of a new school year approaching, many students from the surrounding schools were collecting supplies and stocking up on the items necessary for their learning. A great variety of people paraded through the main street and it was quite interesting to notice the diversity in the magical community. Most people wore robes, a minority sporting badly matched Muggle outfits. Some seemed to find the crowdedness quite amusing, others were obviously deeply irritated. The hustle and bustle the atmosphere held, along with the sound of so many voices blending, made the scene quite attractive. With all this excitement and commotion, it was not a surprise that no one took notice of a young woman lounging in the outside seating area of a cosy coffee shop, enjoying the newest addition to her book collection as the wind tousled her long hair. Occasionally Holly would glance up, just to watch life pass before her eyes. It was a strangely relaxing experience and she could not help but suppress a giggle in some instances, either when she caught a child being naughty behind its parents’ backs or when she noticed a particularly annoyed person over-reacting in frustration at the hectic situation Alectrona was becoming. She hoped for a bit of company, but knowing no one and being fully aware that everyone seemed extremely busy, she knew her chances of conversation were slim. In Holly’s right hand she held a quill and spontaneously she would jab the nib into an inkpot placed on the table in front of her then scribble some notes in the margin of her book, or underline a particular phrase. This was simply habit. She was reading purely for enjoyment, but she couldn’t help studying the text a little as she progressed, to gain a better understanding of themes, character development, plots and other important secrets that talented authors hid in their books. Pausing momentarily to glance around her surroundings, Holly wrapped her fingers around the warm mug in front of her and sipped her white coffee. Afterwards she popped a small square of dark chocolate into her mouth and savoured it as she continued to read. Her glistening blue eyes were focussed entirely on the words before her as the story began to reach a climax. Gripping her book tighter, she tensed a little in excitement. Coffee, chocolate and reading… Could this experience get any better? |

They were both English by birth and had both grown up in various parts of the country but had wanted to get away from the country where their families were – and what better place than where they had met? Alectrona was a beautiful place and she absolutely loved it most of the time. <p> <dd/>Most of the time she loved people as well – Alyx was nothing is not someone who spoke a lot, she was a people person all the way. But there was a limit to that. Alyx didn’t mind being the centre of attention but she wasn’t a big fan of crowds of people all going about their own business. No one paid attention to anyone else, they just concentrated on what they were doing and ignored everyone else – which was something that annoyed her. Seriously, how hard was it to be considerate about other people and watch where you were going?! It was something that really annoyed her. <p> <dd/>She was happy with the placement of her house – it was close enough to the main drag to be an easy walking distance but it was far enough away that people didn’t bleed into the street when there were a lot of people there. Right now she would have loved to live anywhere else though. There were just people everywhere and she just wanted to try to get away from all the crowds – but she couldn’t. The shopkeepers were nice enough to give her and Will discounts and as much as their families tried to help them financially they really did need the discounts. She had no choice but to go into town and shop there. <p> <dd/>Today was the day to get school supplies – quills, ink pots and refilled old ones, and a whole lot of parchment. She had left it too long and now she was in a rush to get everything together before school started – it was her own fault though and she had to deal with it. Knowing that she had dressed for comfort – an old pair of faded and ripped jeans, a white tank top and a black loose knit short sleeved bolero. She also wore a black bowler hat on her head which was tilted to one side slightly as she usually did – Alyx loved to wear slightly crazy accessories, like the large silver heart hanging low around her neck. <p> <dd/>Her arms were heavy with bags of all shapes and sizes and she knew that she had to be really careful with them – there was breakable stuff in them after all – which made moving around all the harder. Going to her favourite café she ordered a white coffee, knowing that she would need the energy of the caffeine and went to try to find an empty table. As soon as she found one, balancing the cup of coffee and the bags she dropped into the chair – only to realise that there was someone on the other side of the small table. <p> <dd/>Alyx gave a groan, shaking her hair which was down underneath the hat and looked at the other girl – around her age – apologetically. “I’m so sorry,” she said with a sheepish grin. “I thought this table was empty – I’ll just find somewhere else to go and be out of your hair.” Craning her neck she looked around trying to find an empty table – hopefully there was one around here somewhere. </font></td></tr></table></div></center>[/dohtml] |

The plot was building in tension and Holly became so engrossed in the words before her that she slipped out of view for a brief moment. This sometimes happened when she was concentrating on her own thoughts a great deal. For a couple of seconds, all that could be seen was an empty table with a half-cup of coffee, a couple of squares of chocolate and an inkpot. The chapter finished in an explosion of revelation and Holly breathed a light sigh of satisfaction, materialising back into view. She hastened to put her quill to work by annotating what she had just read, writing down her ideas and observations. Holly had punctuated her final sentence with a flourish when she heard a clatter from across the table she was seated at. Dropping her quill to rest in the inkpot, Holly glanced over at a blonde-haired girl, laden with shopping and juggling a coffee mug. She seemed sincerely apologetic for her disruption, explaining that she had believed this table to be empty, then glanced around to check for a free one. Holly cursed her lack of control as she realised that she must have vanished for a few seconds, leading this girl to believe that this table was an empty one, but the girl didn’t understand that the mistake was not on her part. Seizing the opportunity for a conversation, Holly offered a smile in the girl’s direction. “Don’t apologise. It’s not a problem. I’m not busy and could probably use some company, that’s if you’re not in a rush.” Holly also knew that there were no free tables, as she had struggled to find one for herself. “I’m not sure if there are any free tables. I had to wait to get this one.” Immediately, she admired the girl’s style. Holly owned a hat very similar to the one the girl was wearing and she possessed a large collection of long necklaces but none were quite as stunning as the silver heart that hung around the girl’s neck. Holly was dressed casually today. Loose, grey jeans hung quite low on her hips and a simple, fitting black t-shirt dressed her top half. She wore a pair of well-worn, black Converse on her feet, which were laced up slackly, so they slipped on and off easily. Her left wrist jangled with a variety of thin, metallic bracelets, all silver, black or white. On her right wrist she wore only one bracelet: a twist of silver metal with many gems and crystals all dangling from it as charms. The jewels were all of various sizes and colours and this piece of jewellery was by far one of Holly’s favourites. A pair of silver hoop earrings could just be identified through her flicks of long, chocolate brown hair, which was left down and wavy. A sweep of mascara enhanced the appeal of Holly’s azure-coloured eyes, but this was all the makeup she wore. “Been shopping, I see.” Holly laughed gently as she nodded at the girl’s bags. “I managed to get all my school supplies last week. It wasn’t as busy then.” This was true, and Holly hadn’t dared to brave the shops today. She didn’t even have a handbag with her. All she needed was her book, quill and inkpot to satisfy her for this warm afternoon, along with the coffee and chocolate she had treated herself to. “My name’s Holly, by the way; Holly Lovette.” Realising she hadn’t introduced herself, Holly extended her right hand in the girl’s direction, offering a handshake. |

Just when it looked like she would have to get her coffee to go instead of being able to enjoy it relaxing at her favourite café the girl spoke – and very thankfully told her that it was alright if she stayed where she was. Alyx gave a bright and thankful smile at the other girl – she couldn’t be happier. <p> <dd/>While she didn’t mind being home usually she hated going to an empty house – though that was something that happened more and more often now. Lilika used to stay with her during some holidays but that was before she had gone off and married Kei, and started her family – though Alyx was hardly upset at the fact that she was now somebody’s aunt! Penn was busy with wedding plans of course and today Will was at work – the last thing she really wanted was to go home alone. That was one of the things she had loved about being at school, all the people. One could never get lonely at school. <p> <dd/>"Thank you so much!” she exclaimed happily, smiling brightly at the other girl. She probably seemed like a bit of a ditz to her – though she sometimes was one – but it was still nice of her stupidity to be excused like that. “You’re right, there probably aren’t any – this is a really popular place to eat. Though it’s not surprising considering how good everything here is.” At this she took a sugar from the holder in the middle and added it to her coffee, stirring it lightly before taking a drink. Yum – nothing beat a good cup of coffee. <p> <dd/>One look at the dark haired girl and Alyx knew that they would get along. If her outfit was anything to go by they had a lot in common – Alyx could easily see herself wearing something like she was wearing – and she absolutely loved all of those bangles that she was wearing. And she was wearing chucks – Alyx’s absolute favourite shoes, she was wearing a red pair herself right now – yes, this was someone she could get along with very easily. <p> <dd/>She gave a little groan at the comment about shopping. “I know,” she said with a shake of her head. “I meant to get this out of the way but I got caught up babysitting for my niece – and I left it too long. I got to rush around with everyone else to try to get everything we needed.” She gave another sheepish smile. “Luckily I’m well known around here so they were nice enough to gather things together for me – in a lot of places I just had to purchase things. Although it certainly puts a dent in the bank balance,” she said with a bit of a wince, thinking of all the money she had spent today. No doubt about it, going to school was expensive. <p> <dd/>Alyx took the other girl’s hand with a smile and shook it. “Alyx Hayden,” she said easily, never using her given name of Alexys – she even winced when teachers used it. “Nice to meet you Holly.” Taking another sip of her drink she took in the other girl and wagered a guess at why she was here. “So you’re ready to go to Elysion Uni then? Or a transfer to Olympus?” Her age was around Alyx’s but she couldn’t be too sure. Elysion tended to get more students than Olympus did though. “One of the schools around here I’d wager. Myself, I’m going to start first year at Elysion this coming year.” </font></td></tr></table></div></center>[/dohtml] |

The girl seemed very pleased at the offer to stay, which equally contented Holly. The last few days she had spent very much alone as she counted down the hours ‘til school began. Having nowhere else to go after she was dismissed from the orphanage, Alectrona seemed the most sensible place to stay until September. She had booked herself in to the Atalanta Inn, a charming little building in which she was made to feel most welcome. There had been plenty of people around her, an aspect she very much enjoyed, but very little communication. That was why when the blonde-haired girl made herself comfortable and returned some conversation, Holly couldn’t help but let her features brighten and she nodded in agreement at the girl’s compliments paid to the café. This place had quickly become a favourite of Holly’s and she could see herself visiting it often, even when school started. Adding some sugar to her white coffee (Holly noticed this affectionately), the girl continued to chat pleasantly, openly talking about her family and a concern of hers. Money became an issue for Holly at times also so she could naturally sympathise in that area. Thankfully her bank balance was quite healthy just now, due to her careful saving. The girl introduced herself as Alyx and politely took Holly’s hand. Regaining a more comfortable posture after leaning over for the shake, Holly prepared herself for an overdue chat. “Nice to meet you too, Alyx.” Alyx steered the conversation in the direction of school and Holly was nicely surprised to find that she would be starting her first year of university in the same establishment as Alyx. She guessed that ‘Olympus’ must be the high school of that area. “I’ll be starting my first year at Elysion, too. I’m looking forward to it a lot. I can’t wait to meet some new people and start my new subjects.” She explained, pausing to put her book and quill down on the table in front of her and take a sip of her milky coffee. “For the past few days I’ve been living here, in the Atalanta Inn, and to tell you the truth I’ve been a bit lonely. I don’t know anyone here, you see, since I used to live in Britain. It’s great to have someone to speak to.” Her voice was soft but audible above the surrounding chatter and she crossed one leg over the other as she caught the eyes of her new acquaintance. Alyx had big, beautiful eyes of a green colour. Yet, they weren’t completely green, but not hazel. Somewhere in-between. Holly liked this unique aspect of Alyx, knowing that her own eyes had a tendency to not look the regular, conformed blue. Motioning towards her book on the table, Holly spurred the conversation onwards. “I’m going to study Written Arts at university. I absolutely love to write and read. It’s a big passion of mine. What are you hoping to study?” She queried, taking the chance to sneak another square of chocolate into her mouth and let it melt on her tongue. Looking up at Alyx, she picked up the wrapper that still contained a few squares of chocolate and offered some to her. “Do you like dark chocolate? I tend to prefer the sweeter stuff but with coffee there’s nothing better than something a little more bitter.” |

Alyx could only hope that they shared some classes – things like that were always made easier if you knew someone in class, especially with what she had heard of some of the professors. Apparently some were very difficult and she had to look out for them – Alyx had taken some of what was said with a grain of salt since both Lili and Penn had a habit of overstating things just to freak her out. Still, it was nice to have an insider who could tell her which teachers to look out for and which she could relax around. <p> <dd/>She nodded at what Holly said about school – she felt the same way, excited to join, and she said as much. “I’ve only heard great things about Elysion – my sister goes there,” she explained. “And I’ve visited there a few times. There are people from all over – it’s exciting, I think.” All she had to do was look at Lili’s friends to see how people could come from all walks of life – meeting people from all over and learning about new cultures. It was part of the reason she was studying what she was. <p> <dd/>Alyx was surprised to hear she was staying at the local inn – most students didn’t come that early to the area, especially if they hadn’t been in Greece before – but wasn’t surprised to hear that Holly was from England – she had recognised the London accent immediately. Alyx herself was from Essex, just outside of Greater London – she had been in the city enough times as a kid to realise what the accent sounded like. Of course she had been living in Greece for years so her accent was muddled at best. <p> <dd/>"Don’t worry about not knowing anyone,” she said with a smile. “I’d say about half the people know each other because they went to Elysion Uni’s sister school but the university really gets people from all over. Though I'm not sure how much you know about the school. Once school starts you’ll have no problem.” She gave an understanding look to Holly. “But until then we can keep each other company – I live here in Alectrona actually, just a few streets away. It’d be nice to talk to another girl.” She gave a laugh. “Or just anyone other than my husband really.” As much as she loved Will girl talk was something just not possible with him – a girl needed girlfriend’s for a reason. <p> <dd/>Alyx’s face lit up when Holly said what she was studying – they would definitely have at least half their classes together. “I’m going to study Public Relations – that’s Media Comm. And International Studies. So we’ll both be studying some of the same stuff with Media Comm. What a relief, to know at leats someone in the same class,” she said with a bright smile. “I love reading and writing too, but I’m more interested in seeing how people interact and how I can impact on it.” She gave a shrug. “It seemed fitting for me.” <p> <dd/>At the offer of chocolate she gave a bright smile and couldn’t help but take a piece. “Actually, white chocolate is my favourite to eat,” she told Holly. “But it doesn’t go well with coffee. You’re right, the dark chocolate with coffee works best – even better when it’s with berries.” She gave a laugh and a wink at the dark haired girl. <p> <dd/>"So you’re interested in writing then?” she asked for clarification. “You want to become a journalist? Or an author maybe?” Being curious and wanting to know a lot about another person was something that ran through the family – Alyx just couldn’t help herself sometimes. Hopefully Holly wouldn’t think she was being too pushy. </font></td></tr></table></div></center>[/dohtml] ((OOC: Since I don’t think it’s written anywhere yet Media Communications = Journalism – it’s been renamed is all.)) |

From the progressing conversation, Holly learned that Alyx had an older sister, which made sense as she had mentioned babysitting her niece earlier. The reassurance she offered about school was gladly heard by Holly, and Holly smiled gratefully at her new friend for these kind words. Having company and interaction were vital to her happiness. She was a sociable creature and needed to talk to people. The times when she was lonely were usually when she found herself disappearing more often. It was these instances when her well-trained gift seemed to act on its own accord, making her vanish when she resolutely didn’t want to. And just like today, it confused other people and landed her in strange situations. However, today Holly was not cursing her lack of control as it had resulted in a refreshing new acquaintance. “Definitely,” Holly replied in return to Alyx’s comment about them keeping each other company until school began. She was delighted that they would stay in touch, as Alyx seemed like the kind of person Holly could really get along with. “You’re married?” She looked pleasantly surprised, tilting her head slightly to one side as if to get a better look at Alyx. “That’s lovely! You’ll have to tell me more about the lucky guy.” She insisted, leaning forward in interest. They would be sharing some lessons at Elysion and this was equally as much a relief to Holly as it was to Alyx. “That’s great that we’ll share some classes. It’s always much easier to get into a subject when you’re not feeling awkward about the room full of strangers that are staring at you! Plus, it means we can help each other out if we need it.” She offered, her excitement of starting school growing even more in the light of this new piece of information. Holly was pleased that Alyx accepted her offer for some chocolate and after her new friend had taken a square she placed the wrapper in the centre of the table, to communicate that Alyx was welcome to help herself to some more if she felt like it. “Both are right.” Holly smiled as she answered Alyx’s question. “I’d love to write for the Daily Prophet. It’s the most well-known wizarding newspaper by far and to have my work in it would be such an accomplishment, I think. I wouldn’t be swayed into writing propaganda pieces though, as the Prophet tend to do now and again. If it came to that I would probably resign. Lying to the whole wizarding community doesn’t appeal to me.” Holly paused with a thoughtful look on her face as she raised her cup to her lips again. “But my real passion lies in creative writing, so I’d love to have my own work published some day… Right now it’s all a dream but I’m hoping that Elysion can help make it a reality.” Her gaze wandered out to the masses of people still squeezing down the high street in a hurry as she contemplated her next step in life. “So what do you want to get out of life, Alyx?” Holly questioned, returning her attention to the table as she hoped to learn more about the girl seated opposite her. |

Not that her family wasn’t great but even though Alyx had been a bubby and friendly person she had never really been the kind to have a lot of friends – acquaintances yes but no real close friends. It would be nice to have a girlfriend that she could giggle and play around with – maybe even talk to about boys – when Will wasn’t around of course. <p> <dd/>When Holly questioned her marital status – which she had forgotten about since she was used to everyone she talked to knowing she was married – that was the moment that Alyx knew that they would be great friends. Usually when it was someone new finding out that she was married – no matter how old the other person was – they said something about how young she was. Holly didn’t even bring up the fact that she was young up (though Alyx did realise then that she hadn’t actually said how old she was) but instead just asked about Will. <p> <dd/>"Tell you about Will?” she questioning, thinking about the best way to describe him to a perfect stranger. “Well, he’s …” a soft and dreamy smile came over her in a moment of girlieness. “He’s perfect,” she said. “Smart and confident and brave and handsome,” she gave a happy little sigh – not something that people often hear out of her. “Just perfect. We’ve been married for a couple years now – since I was 16 and he was 17. Don’t worry, you’ll get to meet him too,” she said finally looking at Holly again with a grin on her face. “He’s coming with us to Elysion as well.” <p> <dd/>Alyx gave the girl an understanding look and nodded. “I know what you mean. Going into a class where you don’t know anyone, especially in your first year – scary! I think so anyway. It’ll help that there’s people around who you know and can talk to – gets rid of the awkward thing of not knowing someone.” Though Alyx realised that she and Holly didn’t really have that – she didn’t feel in the least awkward or uncomfortable talking to her and hopefully Holly didn’t either. <p> <dd/>She listened to what Holly wanted to do with her life with interest – Alyx often felt as though she had no idea as to what she really wanted to do with her life, only a vague idea of going into some things – that was how she had chosen her course. Holly looked like she knew exactly what she planned on doing – and a part of Alyx was jealous of that. It as good for someone so young to know all that. <p> <dd/>"Have you written anything?” she couldn’t help but ask Holly. “Any short stories, or long stories, or poetry? Anything that I could read?” She knew she appeared eager – but that’s exactly what she was. Alyx knew that you could really get to know someone well out of what they wrote and she would be really interested in reading whatever she had written. <p> <dd/>"What do I want?” she repeated again. A small frown appeared on her face when she shook her head and thought about it. “Honestly I’m not quite sure,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders. “I have a rough idea of what I want to do – something with a lot of public speaking, meeting a lot of different people. I love doing that,” she admitted with a smile before she looked thoughtful again. “I like writing too – not stories though, more speeches and a little journalism – things for the masses I spose. But apart from that I don’t know exactly what I want to do with my life.” She shrugged again. “I chose a double degree that is full of subjects I think I’ll love, and I figure I have five years to figure everything else out.” <p> <dd/>Snagging herself another bit of chocolate Alyx leaned back in her chair and stretched her legs in front of her – it had been a long day and after all the running around she had done she was a bit sore. “Do you have any questions about Elysion, or Greece in general?” she asked the girl, figuring she wouldn’t know a lot about the castle or the surrounding area. “I’m always more than happy to play tour guide if you need it.” </font></td></tr></table></div></center>[/dohtml] |

A faraway sort of look floated across Alyx’s face as she thought of her husband and Holly had to try hard to suppress an “aw!” Alyx described Will in a very positive way and Holly decided to regard him quite highly, as she seemed to trust Alyx’s opinion. Alyx explained that she had been married for a couple of years, since she was sixteen, and this information surprised Holly a little. She didn’t know many who had married so young. But Alyx was definitely happy and seemed to have no regrets, so Holly had no criticism for her. However, this new friend’s secure relationship with her husband provoked some sore emotions somewhere at the bottom of Holly’s heart. It reminded her of how terribly single she was and how loveless her life had been for the past while. Reality quickly prompted her of how awful she was in romantic relationships, and how impossible it was for her to give her trust to someone else. And so with this note of finality, she completely ignored that deep longing for someone to depend on, and concentrated on the present conversation she was engaged in. Despite the intensity of that short emotional struggle, Holly had not allowed one line of worry or sadness to cross her features. She had stayed completely composed. “Will sounds gorgeous. I’ll look forward to meeting him.” She said brightly, truly happy for Alyx as she grinned across at Holly from the opposite side of the table. Alyx seemed genuinely interested as Holly spoke of her plans, and Holly valued that a lot. Loneliness tended to be looked on with sympathy, but it did have advantages. Having so much space to think was something Holly had been blessed with and although she didn’t have her life completely mapped out, she knew which direction she was heading in and had set herself standards and goals. Her admiration of Alyx reached a peak when Alyx asked if she had any of her work she didn’t mind sharing. “Yeah, I’ve written quite a lot. Short stories, mainly. Recently I’ve been concentrating on my reading-” she motioned towards her book before her “-but I’m sure I could show you a couple of my notebooks. I tend to have a lot of ideas then don’t get ‘round to finishing them. Some of it still needs polishing up, but I have a couple of completed pieces I wouldn’t mind showing you. I’ll hunt them out for you sometime.” She reassured her. Holly leaned forwards slightly and placed her elbow on the table, resting her head in her hand as she listened intently to Alyx’s plans. “Well, I think you should give yourself some credit.” Holly waited until Alyx had finished before speaking again. “You know what you love and what you want to be doing. I’m sure you’ll find your direction in no time. I’d love to read some of your work as well. I need a bit of encouragement with my journalism, actually. Since creative writing is my favourite, I tend to write so much more of it. I forget how great it is to write about issues and discuss and debate the concerns of society.” She nodded with a pensive look in her eyes. “That’s great. I now have my own personal tour guide!” Holly laughed vibrantly. “I’ve been exploring, actually. I’ve never been abroad before and I figured I should try to get to know the area if I’m going to be living here for a few years.” She glanced around her surroundings affectionately. It was clear that she was enjoying her time in Greece. “Do you know much about Elysion? I’d love to hear anything and everything you know about it. I’ve seen it from the outside and it looks beautiful. I’ve not been inside yet.” This was true: the castle was a stunning grey building right by the ocean and with forests surrounding it. Holly knew she would make good use of the attractive views by soaking up their description and using them as inspiration in her writing. The extent she was looking forward to starting school was quite unnatural. |

((Sorry this took so long to get to but my replies should be faster now I hope)) [dohtml]<center><img src="http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/adrianalazarey/Olympus%20Academy/Misc%20Characters/tables/Alyxheader-1.jpg"><center><table width="500px" bgcolor="#5C9CB1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="20px" style="border-bottom:2px solid black; border-right:2px solid black; border-left:2px solid black; border-top:0px solid black"><tr><td><div align="justify" style="font-family:Comic Sans MS; font-size:12px; color: #A62B4E;"> <dd/>Holly didn’t say anything about how young she had been when she got married, she didn’t even bring it up – all she did was say that she wanted to meet him. Alyx’s smile got a lot wider at this – honestly she was always a little worried about how people would take to it. There were a lot of people who looked down on the fact that she was married considering she was only now 18 – not only older people who thought that she wasn’t old enough to know what she really wanted, but even people her own age who couldn’t imagine themselves being married. Alyx didn’t care – she knew that what she had would last and didn’t care if you called her naïve. “Gorgeous is exactly how I’d describe him,” she said with a nod. <p> <dd/>She nodded vigorously at everything she said about giving Alyx some of Holly’s work for her to read – she was excited about it. “Whatever you feel comfortable showing me would be great,” she said with an understanding smile. “I’ve tried writing but I tend to leave it half finished – I can’t stay still long enough to see it through with my writing. <p> “I’ve always thought that you can tell a lot by a person by reading something they’ve written, creative or otherwise – if you’re a well known author,” she motioned to the book Holly had, “Or if you’re just starting out – you can get certain things about someone from writing that you can’t get from speaking to them.” <p> <dd/>She gave Holly a thankful smile for her reassurance – it was something that she needed from time to time and it was nice of Holly to do it for someone she had only met that day. “Thanks,” she said softly, not wanting to go into it any more than this. She was a loud, vibrant person more than a soft one, at least not unless it was around people that she knew really well and as much as Alyx was sure that Holly would come to be a very close friend she hadn’t known her long enough yet. <p> “We can swap then,” she said brightly, tossing her hair over one shoulder and smiling. “You edit my stories and I can do the same to your reports.” <p><dd/> “I know a bit,” she said with a nod, looking pensive. “I went to Olympus Academy, which is the 1-7 school linked with it,” she explained, still sipping on her coffee. “It’s for students with special abilities as well as their magic, so you always have to watch your back in the corridors because you never know what’s going to happen. It’s been around for a long time,” she looked a little confused then. “I’m not sure how long exactly. It’s really beautiful though,” she said as the confusion cleared. <p><dd/> “Because the stone is so pale the light always reflects in it so it’s never dark or dreary, always beautiful. Getting around can be a little confusing but the classrooms and dorms are always easily marked so it’s just places like the classroom and that that’s confusing. <p> <dd/>"I’m really looking forward to it,” she said with a smile, looking back at Holly – she had looked away when she was speaking sometime, she wasn’t sure when. “I didn’t think I would be actually, since I was never the best student. But I’m really excited to go and meet everyone, all the new people. And be around my family as well.” Alyx gave her head a little shake as she laughed at herself. “It’s surprising.” </font></td></tr></table></div></center>[/dohtml] |
