![]() Main Information Name: Emmánuel Tobias San’ko Nickname: E, Manny, Em, Middle It, Triplet Gender: Male Age: 22 Birthday: January 9th Year: 10th Blood: Half-blood Wand: Twelve inches long, made of teak wood with a powdered Erumpent horn core. Previous School: No primary school education (home schooled), later Durmstrang Institute years 1-7 Major/s: Mental Healing: Medical Magic and Occlumency Physical Description: Height: Emmanuel is quite tall at 6 foot 4 inches, often towering above his schoolmates. Weight: 230lbs. Hair: As with most of the men in his family, Emmanuel has thick dark brown hair. Naturally it’s straight, thankfully, and usually worn slicked back from the face from his face with some sort of potion. It’s easily long enough to cover his eyes if not slicked back, so unless he is in a great rush he’ll take the time to do it. Facial hair is something which he grows quite at random, and he needs to shave daily or else it will be noticeable on his face. Eyes: Eye colour is a hard thing to place on Emmanuel, most commonly called hazel in the sense that his eyes seem to change colour depending on the amount of light in a room. His eyes are generally a brown in colour, and in dark rooms they appear generally to be dark in colour also. Brighter rooms lighten his eyes, making them appear anywhere from light brown to dark green. His eyes are set deep into his face, almost sunken, emphasising the strong lines of his brows and nose. Accent: Hungarian tainted English. Ethnicity: Caucasian Other: Emmanuel has olive toned skin, a shade of medium toned white skin with small hints of yellow and green to his skin. Because of this he tans very well, and can be seen being quite a bit darker in the summer months. Being a believer in the idea that a healthy body and a healthy mind cannot be mutually exclusive, Emmanuel does his best to keep in shape and is fit, rather than overly muscular. He has fine, strong bone structure to his face with high cheekbones and brows, often giving his eyes a sunken appearance. His nose is a little large for his face, and a bit crocked from where he knocked it as a child with a broomstick, but doesn’t detract too much from his overall appearance. He doesn’t have as strong a jaw as some of his siblings, but he does have the trademark San’ko chin cleft. When he gives a smile, however big or small, he gets dimples in both his cheeks, the kind that aren’t likely to fade with age. Emmanuel has two noticeable birthmarks, one on his face below his left eye, and another on his left arm, an oddly shaped scattering on his forearm. Both are relatively noticeable and dark on his skin, particularly the one on his arm. He has a small scar on the very back of his neck that he has had for as long as he can remember, but has no idea how he received it. The idea of something marking his body forever isn’t something he likes, so Emmanuel doesn’t have any piercings or tattoos. Generally in dress Emmanuel likes to mismatch, between sophisticated looking pieces and more common and casual; all, though, are wizarding clothing generally and well made pieces. Emmanuel can be seen wearing everything from jeans and t-shirts to shirts and slacks, he doesn’t even mind wearing a suit and tie, or wizard robes if the occasion calls for it. Jewellery is also popular for him around his hands, and he can sometimes be seen wearing rings, bracelets and different watches on occasion. Emmanuel absolutely hates wearing shoes, avoids it as much as he possibly can, and whenever he is able to will take off his shoes and socks and walk around barefoot. Psychological Personality: Emmanuel would like to think of himself as the responsible one of the San’ko children, though the younger tend to refer to him instead as the stick in the mud. He is without a doubt the most serious of the San’kos, or at least the one which most outwardly show this, and most see him as aloof and reserved. Indeed, Emmanuel is not overly demonstrative of his affections, and is likely to not give as much praise or positive support as others may need or desire. That doesn't mean that he doesn't truly have affection or regard for others, he simply does not typically feel the need to express it. It is likely his Occlumency studies that have meant he has developed such a strong intuition about people, one which will often dictate his mood and how he acts around them. Others may falsely perceive him as being rigid and set in their ways. Nothing could be further from the truth, because Emmanuel is always committed to always finding the objective best strategy to implement their ideas, and is usually quite open to hearing an alternative way of doing something. Emmanuel is a natural leader, although often he chooses to remain in the background until he see a real need to take over the lead. When he is in the leadership role, he are quite effective because he are able to objectively see the reality of a situation, and are adaptable enough to change things which aren't working well. Emmanuel is a supreme strategist; always scanning available ideas and concepts and weighing down against his current strategy, to plan for every conceivable contingency. Because of this he often takes a back seat in the family, letting the eldest, Radek take the lead and staying in the background until the strategy falls through and he can bring in plan b. Of course, Emmanuel also has a not so nice side to compliment what is set out above. He is quick to judge other people, and doesn’t always explain these judgements and the reasons for them well, resulting in many people thinking him to be arrogant. Arrogant is something which he certainly is, but he doesn’t necessarily look down on people as such; instead, he thinks of himself as being better than others, not necessarily that other people are unworthy or idiotic. To some there might not be a difference, but to him there most certainly is. On the other hand, if something is to go wrong he will almost always focus on the shortcomings of the other people instead of placing the blame on himself. He has the same view on many of his past relationships and plans that, for some reason or another, simply have not worked; although Emmanuel knows that he can do wrong, his ability to view the big picture means that he hardly ever believes he had done the wrong thing. A lot of the time it is indeed at the fault of Emmanuel, who thinks in very non-linear terms, and expects everyone to be able to understand what he says because it makes perfect sense to him, even when it doesn’t make any sense to anyone else. This ads to his sense of elitism, his feeling of arrogance when someone doesn’t understand what he means; though bring it up to him and he will be the first to deny it. History: Emmánuel Tobias San’ko was born on January 9th some 20 odd years ago to Sebestyèn and Amalia San’ko, a wizarding couple who already had one child, Radek. Emmanuel ended up being the second of four children to the San’kos, Fabian following a year after Emmanuel, and Viktoria some three years after that. The family were close, not exactly the Brady bunch but neither were they always fighting and at each others throats. From a very early age all of the children were taught about getting along with the others, so things like sharing and learning to live in a large and very noisy house were of no problem to Emmanuel; to this day he finds being alone, in a quiet place rather difficult and cannot stay that way for too long. Though half-bloods, the San’kos lived in a wizarding town in Hungary, on a plot of land that can best be described as a ranch, coming from a long line of Winged Horse breeders and living around animals his entire life As a child Emmanuel found his place among his siblings easily; he was the quoted responsible one, the one that generally could be depended upon to do the right thing. That isn’t to say that he never got caught up in the plans of his siblings, he often found himself mucking around with them and getting into trouble; he was, however, very rarely the planner of these types of activities, and if he found them too outlandish he would be the first to put his foot down and try to talk the others out of it. His magical powers showed themselves at an early enough age, when he feel off a young horse after it bucked, and rather than getting seriously hurt simply bounced a little on the ground. Although his parents and he lived in the wizarding world, they were no strangers to the muggle world either as it was the closest larger town to their property. Although he found himself the odd one out at times around the muggles, over the years he has learnt how to act around them to abate suspicion and can pass for a muggle if need be; as long as he doesn’t forget not to pull out his wand that is. Like his older brother before him, the choice in which magic school to attend was simple, and he headed off to Durmstrang once he had turned eleven years old. There he found a love of magical subjects, his wand work rather good with Charms being his favourite, and although he was no where near the best in the class, also a good potion brewer. He was not the best student by far, had his lazy days and found much theory boring, but he was a hard worker at the subjects he enjoyed and got good to excellent grades in most of his subjects. Although he studied the Dark Arts at school, subtly of course, he never found a real appeal in them or their application; though he did, for a time, find himself interested in how to fix them and the people they inflicted. This was especially true when he turned sixteen and discovered his ability, the last of all the San’ko children to discover they had one. In one particularly gruelling Duelling class he shot a spell at his opponent that was not blocked, as was intended, but instead hit the mark, and the student was left with a large gash on her face. Worried, Emmanuel hurried over to her and checked to see if she was okay, only to find that the wound was healing itself and she seemed to be unable to move. Shocked, Emmanuel let go of the girl and watched as the wound continued to bleed until, at the insistence of others, he touched the girl again and found that the wound healed completely. Needless to say, teachers and students alike were shocked and it took nearly eight months before Emmanuel actually found out what he was able to do, and how he could control it. Since then he has worked hard on his power and has near complete control over the workings of it, though these things can never be an exact science. Seven years passed by for Emmanuel and his brothers and sister there, and he came out with good marks in his subjects, especially Charms and Potions. Although he planned on eventually going to a university, he felt no need to head there immediately and decided to take a year off, travelling a little around Europe and getting a feel for the area in which he lived. Soon enough, one year turned too two and Emmanuel found himself still not enrolled in university, his younger brother following his lead as he had followed Radek’s, and not going to university either. Both of their parents made it perfectly clear that they were expected to go to university eventually, and since neither of his brother’s were the kind to make the leap, and in order to set a better example for their sister, Emmanuel looked into different universities until he found a good one. Elysion University, he declared, was the perfect place to go considering they all had rather unique abilities, and they would attend there the next year. Although there was some resistance, eventually the boys decided that going to university would be a good idea after all, and Emmanuel was quick to enrol in a Mental Healing course that would cater to him perfectly. Family: Sebestyèn San’ko: Emmanuel’s father, an extremely hard working man who has instilled a sense of responsibility into his children. He believes that one should think before they act, something Emmanuel has taken on board, and the two are very alike in many respects. Despite his sometimes gruff demeanour, he can still be a jokester and always has kind words for his children if they need it. Amalia San’ko: Emmanuel’s mother, she can be the hard, strict mother one minutes, and the loving and affectionate type the next. Emmanuel is not particularly close to his mother, being more like his father than his mother, and has as strong affection for her as he does for any of his family. Radek San’ko: The eldest of the San’kos, Radek is just over a year older than Emmanuel. Radek is the daredevil of the group, the one to take charge and take risks. As the eldest the two are rather close, as are all the siblings, but Emmanuel can often get annoyed with Radek’s attitude towards business. Fabian San’ko: The youngest of the so called San’ko triplets, Fabian is the charmer, the one who could murder and get away with it with a smile on his face. Fabian often grates on Emmanuel’s nerves, but the two do share some similarities. Viktoria San’ko: At sixteen, Viktoria is the youngest of the San’ko siblings, and the only girl. She is very much the baby of the group, with all of her brothers being rather overprotective of her, tending to get on her nerves. Miscellaneous Pet: A Granian winged horse, dark grey in colour with black hair, and black and . Granian’s are a particularly fast breed of winged horse, and Akos the is of no exception. He is, however, getting on in years he is not as fast as he once was. Emmanuel always ensures that Akos is getting the very best of care. Knowledge/Talents: Can speak both Hungarian and English fluently, though the latter always has the accent of the former on it. Although not as fluent, he can also speak German fairly well. Emmanuel is an expert winged horse rider, which comes of little surprise considering the family are breeders. Special Ability: Emmanuel has the ability to control the life force or energy of another person. This control comes in the form of suspending the life force of another and doing one of two things, either contribute to it via his own, or take away from it by stealing it and adding to his own. Essentially he is linking his own life force, his energy with another being’s, primarily through physical contact with another, though he has very minimal control with his siblings if they are in close quarters but not necessarily touching. By suspending their life force they often feel as though they are out of breath, often also having a parlayed effect as though they are unable to move, although they are in no harm and will return to normal as soon as Emmanuel lets them go or stops using his power. After suspending a person’s life force and linking it with his own, Emmanuel can choose to either give them some of his own energy, or extract energy from them and add it to his own. By suspending a person’s life force and placing some of his own in it, he has the ability to control what that energy does. This is most commonly used to heal a person, whether physically or mentally, and because of practice can actually be done quite quickly on smaller injuries such as cuts and bruises. Although he can, by these means, ‘heal’ others he has no power over his own in such a manner, so cannot heal himself. As would be expected, larger injuries require more of his energy, and since he is loose some of his own life force he becomes physically tired after he does this, an exponential relationship existing between the amount of energy given and how tired he becomes. Because he most often uses the ability in this way many believe he has the power to heal, and he has long since stopped arguing, finding it easier to explain this way. Theoretically Emmanuel could give up all of his energy to save another, thus killing himself, but does not see any reason to do this. The latter is much simpler to explain and, for Emmanuel, do, though it is rare for him to use it. After suspending someone’s energy he will take it from them, feeding it into his own body and effectively stealing their life force. This results in the other person being physically tired and Emmanuel himself feeling quite strong and awake, both physically and mentally. At the same time, every person has a certain amount that they are able to have within their bodies and no more; if Emmanuel takes too much he strains against it, and feels as paralysed and struck as those he connects with do, often unable to move at all. Again, he would theoretically be able to take all of the energy of another if he was also low on energy and kill the other person, but doesn’t see any need to do this because of the dangers involved. Emmanuel also has somewhat of an ability connected to his siblings, or which connects him and his siblings together. The four of them have a mental connection which couldn’t be considered telepathic, but has a similar base. They are unable to hear the thoughts of another sibling whatsoever; their connection is more derived from empathy, though that is not completely correct either. Emmanuel is able to ‘feel’ when one of his siblings is near, and more than that, locate them to a high degree. This is more than simply whether the sibling is in the room or not, Emmanuel is able to say with certainty that his little sister is hiding in the third closet from the left behind the coats five meters away. This, understandably, made hide and seek as children impossible. When one is feeling particularly strong feelings, such as anger or fear, each sibling is able to feel that from the other person, no matter the distance. This is especially useful when one of them is in danger, in order to help them more quickly. For Emmanuel personally it is rather weak, likely because of his Occlumency studies. He is able to feel the emotions of his siblings but isn’t able to feel who it is behind the emotions. He is, however, able to identify the positioning of a particular sibling and can bypass this small weakness through that, despite the fact that it doesn’t work well over large distances.
