![]() Personal Information Name: Dylan Grisse Nickname: None Gender: Male Age: 20 Birthday: January 23rd Blood: Pureblood Wand: Red Oak; 11 inches; chimera’s heart core Academic Information Year: 10th year Level of Study: Undergraduate Degree Area of Study: Ancient Studies Secondary Area of Study: None Previous Schooling: Merlin Preparatory School for Wizards and Warlocks Physical Description: Height: 5’ 11” Build: Dylan Grisse is tall, thin and yet physically fit. His body is not chiseled out of stone like the Classic statues, but his torso is defined in pectorals and abs giving him a young, healthy, and otherwise normal look. His chin is scarred with a small crescent-moon shape pointing downward. His skin is white and he is happy to know he didn't inherit the sickly-white, ghostly glaring tone of the Bretons, but rather a sun-tanned soft skin, hairless, smooth, warm. His hand are long and his fingers oblong and callous. His nails have their salmon color although some are white-spotted and bitten to the flesh. Hair: Brown hair with some natural highlights, cropped short and neat. Eyes: Light-brown all around the iris and emerald-green as the iris surrounds the pupil. When there are no light filters, his eyes turn green Accent: English – South Hampton. Although he was schooled in the finest schools of London, his accent in not heavy Ethnicity: Anglo Other: Behind his left leg, Dylan birthmark is a brush stroke of brown paint. He considers it to be his greatest pride and a natural, painless, and organic tattoo. However, no one but his immediate family knows. He always wears a full-length cotton or wool cloak depending on the weather and the heat, pinned over his right shoulder with a rune brooch in the form of an encircled unicruxal hexagram on a pentagram background. His aquiline nose fits diametrically between his vivid eyes and his thin eye brows. Dylan's face is oblong, clean-shaved, and angular. His aquiline nose fits symmetrically between his eyes and thick eyebrows giving him a stern, decisive, frightening look. Psychological Personality: Dylan’s personality is anything but easy-going. He is the Classical Janus wearing a mask and putting-up a defense wall to everyone he meets. He is highly introverted therefore, and almost seems to be a sociopath to everyone, every where. Dylan speaks little and only when addressed to. Though he cannot find words to express himself sometimes, and he dreads speaking in public (three persons or more), he entertains his expressions through playing the violoncello, a near magical feeling filling the room when he plays of colored waves and of different tonalities and figures. People might find Dylan a little eccentric the way he dresses. Others see in him a spoiled rich kid. Off course, he couldn’t care less of what other people think of him. To the few friends he has (and makes), he is an honest, charismatic, and humoristic character. Dylan can be stubborn sometimes, too. He goes out of his way to help whoever he can just as well he is relentless to bring anyone down; he could be your best friend or your sworn enemy. For Dylan, there is no middle in that sense. He is a well-adjusted individual always acting with a cool head, almost as a cunning and conniving individual. History: Dylan’s full name is Dylan Ramouni Grisse. His family is a well-to-do Breton family of old wizard stock. He is the third child from the marriage of Peter Ramouni, Earl of Grisse (a vibrant, proud man, standing over 6 feet tall) and Vivian Pie-Lago. As far as he can remember, Dylan had a happy, normal childhood. He grew-up in his family’s estate in South Hampton before going of to boarding schools when he was 13 years old. For the mean time, Dylan was home-schooled with the best wizard tutors money could afford. He was taught in both wizard and humans subjects as Poisons, Ancient Runes, Astrology, Alchemy, History of Magic; Music, Fencing, Horsemanship, and Contemporary Poetry. At Merlin Preparatory School for Wizards and Warlocks he never achieved to be in the top of his class. Ever since the first day, he decided to take a less strenuous approach to schooling although he always managed to be among the top 10% to keep his father’s owls at bay. There at school, Dylan would keep away from other kids like him (the pureblooded elite as a whole) and surround himself more with the half-blooded and Muggle-born students. He made best friend with Robert Nave, the half-blooded son of Sir Erik Lawton, Rosalynd Black, Muggle-born, and Jacques (pronounced [je-kuis]) Mora, Muggle-born and best-friend. This trio would spend several of their summer holidays in South Hampton and the Southern coast. Jacques taught Dylan Arab incantations more powerful that their Western counterpart. Both studied comparative magic from the Mediterranean, the East and the Orient. Dylan discovered from the Hindu gurus the ability to do wandless magic. After prep-school, Dylan decided to attend Elysion University as a nice place long away from home and his father, and to do whatever he wanted in terms with his magical powers and heritage. So far within the two years of attendance, he hasn't been disappointed. There's still much left to be desired, especially progress with his own side projects and research, but that was to be expected once he devled into his studies. But with a less stressful year coming up, perhaps he could get a lot more done. Though he could definitely work on gaining more friends...No, not really. Family: The genealogy of the Grisse family dates back to the Etruscan and the Roman mystics. It is not known what where the ties of the family, but some of his well-researched uncles claim the first Grisse was neighbor with the Sibyl at Cumaean. “So much for over-rating it,” said Dylan once on a beach walk with Jacques. He was more akin to his mother’s temperance and sweet character than to the pride-and-glory type of his father. Dylan is preceded by two elder brothers Modest Beowulf Grisse, Alexis Michel Grisse [now deceased], and followed by a younger sister Viola Grisse. Dylan loved being around his brothers, especially Alexis, until he died. Alexis’ death didn’t sink well with the family and it turned out to be the beginning of the fragmented relationships that has riddled the Grisse family. Alexis died in a failed alchemist transmutation during the winter solstice when Dylan was 13 years-old. In a fit of rage and desolation, Peter burned their alchemy laboratory and along with it, tomes and volumes of chemistry, bio-physics, algebra, transmutations, runes, and countless manuscripts of research notes he could get his hands on. The family library was spared by the interception of Thomas, the family butler and Vivian herself. Alchemy, therefore, became a forbidden subject in the household, and just like anything forbidden to a teenage boy, a subject of fascination and authority disobedience. The death of Alexis weighted more on Vivian than on the rest of the family. Gradually, in the course of one year, Vivian started loosing her mind until she was completely insane and locked-up in a London sanatorium. Shortly afterwards during the holidays, Peter and Modest came down on a thunderous fight over Peter’s decision over Vivian’s mental health. It was a bloody fight between father and son which ended-up in Modest being kicked out of the house, disowned and penniless. As such, with Dylan away most of the year and Peter submerged in the family pride, name, and businesses, Viola was sent at the age of ten to a co-ed Preparatory School for Wizardry. Two years later she was transferred to an All-Witch Model School in Luxembourg. With no one to talk other that his friends, Dylan become more and more introverted. His father became a stranger and his sister someone he would die to meet. Miscellaneous Pet: None Knowledge/Talents: Alchemy is much more than just a knowledgable subject, it's a passion. Vast is a word that doesn't even begin to decribe just how wide his grasp holds when it comes to Ancient studies, which would explain why he's breezed through most of his college courses at EU. Though the Renaissance man is not without his artistic talent, the violoncello the beautiful and melancholy instrument of choice he has played for many years. Magical Weaknesses: Being much more invovled within his mind, practical subjects take a hit because of it. Though it doesn't mean he couldn't adapt with time, usually he'll try to approach a practical problem with a theoretical solution. Not always the way to go. And though he knows much about Divinations and related subjects (everything seems to connect to Alchemy directly or not), considering he doesn't believe much in its mumbo jumbo, he always had a difficult time coping with any side of the class. Special Ability: Dylan can do all kind of wandless magic, but he specializes in precipitation. Precipitation is a form of writing that is learned after studying the Eastern Mystics. When one is able to write by precipitation it means that you use your index finger as a pencil and you can write at the same speed as you think. The trick is the following: you dirt the tip of finger with lead or ink, hover the finger over the parchment and voila! Words, sentences and whole paragraphs appear on the paper. The downside is that whatever you think, whatever thought, even those you would like to keep secret will be written on paper if you think then at the precise moment Notes: Since “writing by precipitation” means that you “write as you think”, whenever you change your idea or thought or what to say, that which you thought before comes out scratched out on the paper. |
