You know what? Glamour thought to herself. Buck it. She tied her ears together so that the flaps were tight against her head and blocked out the voices. The thing's very words were hurting her. And she couldn't understand anyone else anyhow. Listening seemed like a bad idea right now particularly when the words had the ability to make things sleep. It was a bad time for naps. Those unicorns needed to get up. She'd tell them to wake up, but speech seemed a useless tool anyhow against the boogyman. That pink one was prattling on and the only thing she was getting was to be puppeteered by the boogyman. Plus, she wouldn't be able to keep her fire going if she were talking. Which seemed to be the thing that was keeping her from having one of those shadow nuances. Nooses. Whatever. Glamour took a big breath and wriggled out from under neath Ndege and Swali, then letting out another blast of fire. Edited by yew, Aug 19 2012, 05:44 PM.

The moment presented itself abruptly, unexpectedly. A rare conglomeration of lucky facets that Ra had been waiting for. He had no magic left of his own, not here, not like this. But he still had the ways of the immortals if not the gods. How lucky it was that he was old enough to know rituals of sound like his dear foe. His zebra knights cast their little bottle fire against the walls of Apep, one of the fractious discordian creatures belched a gout of fire, and the infant goddess followed suit. It should not been enough to make the necessary difference, but the sun god chose his knights well. Mortals that would fight until their last breaths. And, in some cases, immortals. It would rend her mind in an instant. It would send her soul fleeing to the other side, leaving her body the puppet Apep so desired. But first, it would confuse the snake. Just enough. Just enough that the flash and flicker of firelight and chemical bursts and the deranged unicorn's magic would give him this one opportunity. And he took it. Where he had been unnaturally still a moment before, he was now a proud and regal thing. A flash image of the god he had been once. Not the tight would creature of the island, not the starving mangy kitten that his warriors had circled, but the force that had been Pundani's saviour for untold generations, a light to rival the sun itself were they not the greatest of friends. He spread his wings, he roared his last great call to battle, the words crushing against mortal ears just as the snake's had. The zebras, the last of the Non Player Characters, as well as whichever player characters would like to do so (particularly if their players are playing multiple characters), collapsed beneath the power of it, robbed of strength and of consciousness at the pressure of the words. The song that his army had carried in to battle. "We fall together." And then, he followed them into rest. A starved, molting, shabby coated and flea bitten cat once more. But zebras, sphinxes and ponies were not the only things swayed. So too was the shadow stuff upon his standing warriors' necks loosened, falling away briefly. Single smokey strands drifting and dripping away, that could not hope to rival the curtains which unravelled themselves from Moon Chaser, slip-sliding like broken beads, falling over the etched gold that they had so carefully avoided. Behind closed eyes, insensate and dying, Ra could see none of what happened, even though it was all he had hoped for upon calling her here. But as for those still alive, awake and aware, it was as clouds parting at noon. Her body swelled within the armaments, the air around her shimmering as it did in the deepest deserts at noon, until they rested warm and light against her, as though they had been fitted to her shape. Or, more aptly, as if she had been fitted to theirs. Her wings doubled and redoubled in length, becoming great, soaring sails where they had once been for darting and weaving. And, most prominently, the crown, now a tiara once more, was held steady in its position by not only the locks of mane, but a slender, sharp pointed horn. The dark that recoiled away form her sharply, snapping back into the dome, and then just as swiftly, plunging like daggers into the bodies of the other standing warriors, solid and incomprehensibly cold. "Ṅ̻̰̦̼͎̳̳̤ͭͬ̍͂o͉̦͕ͨ̓͒͑̐̏ͧͅ." Hissed the voice of the void. "T̸̰̯͚̤̥̲̰̟̏̉͡h̴̨̛̖̓ͧ̏͋͗ͤ̔i̧̖̠̠͚̜̠͒̊͞͠s͖̳̟̤͇̻̉͋ͬ ̶͈̯͈̳̳̰̲̦͒ͮ̄̓̔̍ͣ͆ͬm̝͍̗̲̘̬̜̦̜̌̑ͤ͊͐̆ͩ̉ͮ͢ǎ̮͈̫̼ͯ͢ͅk̮͔̠̭̗͍̗̻̯͐͐́̚e̢̛̤̥͓̒͗̒̂̒̏͜s͐̓ͫ͒̈͛҉͇͙̖̙͉̹ ̯̣̝̰̹̤̥ͥ̇͂̎̐n̴̜̲͕̪͈͖̤̱ͣͣ̂ͥ̏͡õ̻̹͚͕̯̻̰̃̓͒̍͜ ̒̽̐҉̵̲̪̲̖d̂̿͊ͦ̍ͯ҉͏͔̹̝̙̩͎͍͈i̳̪̟͖͙̅͆͆̐̅͡f͖̣͎̻̥͍͖ͣ̅̇̿̀͠f̡̗͕̘̄ͩ̈́̽̓͐̽̈́̓e̴̢͉͈͖̭̺̜̳̅̽̋̽̽̃̔ͫ̆r͂̈̋̓͗͑̐҉̵̝̩̳̖͇͢ë͒ͤͯͧ͑̈ͩ̌͏̧͖̞͢n̩̳̤̝͈ͬͭ͂̌ͦ̍ͯ͆͋c̨̟̻̾̋́̚͝͠e̸͉͇̻̲̘̞̹͇͛ͨ͐̂ͯ̊ " The ten thousand meanings underlying each word betrayed just how much difference it made, this gleaming white alicorn, mane whipping in solar winds, eyes glowing with the light of the great and hidden orb, the heavy enchantments of the armor brought to bear by the brush of an ancient and well remembered foe, suffusing their wearer with the warmth and magic of the lost sun princess. To complete the effect, the sunbird even roused from her shed corpse. Still, he would not be swayed by a meager foreign goddess. There was already one among them, and she had made no difference. No. They would both die here. They would all die here. That was an absolute truth, for all that his words disagreed with what he said. As if to prove that point to itself and its little prey beasts, each of the conscious ones was met with a bladesharp, impossibly cold spike of the shadows driving into their sides, piercing flesh and leaving it dead and frozen around the entry point. Each but the young goddesses. Apep took a particular delight in watching the false god and the immortal sphinx writhe around the spikes. It was, perhaps, rather a let down that Ra's motionless body remained as such, even when finally breeched, though. |

She froze. In the middle of a burning battlefield and with a spike of pure darkness and hate sticking into her, Galaxy froze. She had killed something, she had KILLED something! You could argue that Apep was the one that had actually done the killing, but she would just point out that he had done it simply because she couldn't keep her stupid mouth shut for all of five minutes! The mental voice of her old boss came up again, screaming at her in rage. For all this hatred of unicorns and pegasi, he had held Zebras in surprisingly high regard, viewing them as victims of oppression and misinformation. And she had killed them! Useless bucking narwhal that she was, she had killed innocent zebra's because she couldn't keep her mouth shut and, like all unicorns, she thought she knew was was best for everypony just because had magic! She heard another of those bombs going off, and more lines of magic flowed toward Apep as that one mare cackled madly overhead. Her mind, still reeling from what she had done, made a leap in the wrong direction; that pony wasn't helping them, she was in league with Apep and was feeding him more death. She had to be stopped, she had to be stopped! Galaxy's horn flared again as her color started to fade to a pinkies shade of gray. She had killed, she had killed so many; what was one more when nothing mattered any more? Yeah; that had hurt, there was no denying that. Skye was used to pain; her inventions did have a tendency to blow up at times, and usually with her there for it, but this was some SERIOUS pain. She couldn't reach back to pull the stake out of her flank, not while she was still flying, and that was probably for the best really. She didn't know what it was that had stuck into her, but she'd learned that, at a certain size, it was best to just leave things in the wound since it kept them closed. Besides, her wings were still in one- And then a bold of pink magic hit one of her wings. The flying Earth Pony gave a cry of surprise as she flailed her hooves and fought for some stability, only just managing to flip herself so that she came down pack first onto the savanna and painfully bounced off the ground. She managed to awkwardly find her hooves, the spike preventing her from using one of her hind legs, and surveyed the situation. The glider wings were mangled beyond recognition; she wasn't even sure she could repair them with the proper time, much less in the middle of a battlefield. She had lost one of her saddle bags as well, flung off to who knows where in the crash; leaving her with just one that was only mostly full. Oh, and there where a lot of vaguely pony-shaped shadows making their way toward her. "Well..." She reached into her bag and fished out another of her flashers as she stared down the things. "This isn't going to go well for at least one of us." Boipelo grit his teeth as he staggered, the spike of shadow protruding from his back and out of his reach. He was used to pain, no warrior made it through training without being injured to some degree. However, while he had been cut with all manner of weapons of the giraffe, he had never felt a pain so... cold. It was as if part of his body was burning with cold and it was actually giving him pause even in the middle of a burning plain. And, though he had no love for any species save his own, he had just seen Ra die. No matter what his beliefs and morals... to see a god die was truly something sobering. Something that was supposed to immortal and eternal... falling like a mortal, and a weak mortal at that thanks to his weakened state. What chance did a mortal have against something that could kill a god? "No!" The word was not shouted, but still spoken with force even as the pony over head began to shine. He was a proud giraffe, not some stupid, little pony! He would not fall into the despair and madness of Apep! He would strike the poison serpent down! He pushed at the magic below the ground; sand plumes burst upward, followed by great rocks that rolled across the burning grass to crush flames out. "You will not find me so easy a target, Apep." |

((EDITED cuz’ it needed to be)) Noblesse’s smirk, which upon reflection most ponies would remember almost never seeing him without, gets wiped clean off at the death of his companions, replaced with a tranquil fury. “You know, there’s two, well, three things that make up a god, but really only two that matter,” Noblesse says calmly, way too calmly, in a voice that carried regardless of the volume, or lack there of, “Their Bailiwick and their Demesne. The What, and the Where. In this case, we can’t change the what, but we can change the where.” He marches forward towards the only two natives still conscious, who just so happened to be Ndege and Swali. At the urge of his Intuition, he shifts his stance slightly, causing the lance of shadow to strike where it would do the least possible damage. “My name is Noblesse Oblige, Duke of Sleipnirheim, Captain of the Guard, and Guildmaster of the Guild of Archives and Records. On behalf of the Equestrian government I wish to purchase this field up to sixteen yards beyond the horizon in exchange for aid to be rendered. As a representative of the native population, do you agree?” He intones solemnly. The two look at him confusedly for a moment before they suddenly get what he was trying to do and shake his hoof to seal the deal. He whirls around and roars out in Canterlot Royal Voice, “THE POWER OF A GOD IS TIED TO ITS LAND! PRINCESS MOON CHASER! DO YOU AUTHORIZE THIS PURCHASE?” The moment the Alicorn says yes, all the land that Apep could possibly be on would officially become Equestrian soil, robbing him of it’s power while at the same time boosting the strength of the new Equestrian god. For once, Ice's duster actually did what it was supposed to and blocked the shard of darkness from embedding into Ice's side, and with a few waves of Blaze the light filled and dispelled the congealed lack. ((The author has been advised to add this OOC note asking if the cloak can actually do this.)) He looked around at the dead and wounded around him, and realized that he was pretty much the only pony to get out of this unscathed. It seemed Morpho's gift had served him well, but only him. Of course, such was the way of body armor. However, of even more importance than Ra's corpse and a much smaller Kalidus looking around in confusion was the spitting image of Celestia that Moon had become. The being of the sun herself, come to fight for them. He flew up to join her, the glowing metal of the sword slicing through the shadow tendril as he went. Stone, on the other hoof, was far more concerned with the fate of his best friend. The sphinx likely only had a few minutes left, but Stone wanted him to die without suffering any more. With tears in his eyes, he pressed his head against the old god's and fired a laser directly into Ra's temple. Where it hit and rippled, the shock dissipating instantly. Stone blinked and looked; no burns, and it seemed that Ra's coat had become a bit cleaner in the moment he'd had his eyes closed. Then it hit him: lasers were basically congealed light, and the god drew his power from light. Without another thought for himself, he started firing blast after blast, letting his energy flow into the sphinx, who was beginning to look significantly less dead. He only had a few moments before the land was signed away to Equestria, and as he exhausted the last of his reserves he brought a hoof down on Ra's chest, in a last-ditch attempt to restart the god's heart. He could only hope he was in time. |

Moon Chaser closed her eyes as the warmth engulfed her, and soared on thermals of her own making before opening her eyes to the scene beneath her, no longer her old soft green eyes, but twin globes of burning light, holding both the promise of warmth and the wrath of a merciless sun. Moon could tell what had happened, though not why, the new snug fit of the barding and strange new weight upon her head was clue enough. Still, despite her coat now shedding a gentle glow she felt no more enlightened. No clue how to wield the new powers she possessed, or even what they were. So she relied on her old ones, deception and theatrics. "NOBLE WARRIORS OF PUNDANI, WE THANK YOU FOR THIS GIFT OF LAND AND RECEIVE IT IN THE SPIRIT WITH WHICH IT WAS OFFERED. BUT WE ARE MOON CHASER OF EQUESTRIA NO LONGER, NOR ARE WE MERELY CELESTIA REBORN. WE ARE GODDESS OF WHERE THE LIGHT FALLS. AND THOUGH IT IS NOW BLOCKED, THE GROUND REMEMBERS. DO YOU WISH ME TO SUMMON FORTH THAT MEMORY FOR YOU?" Ah, turned out the one thing Moon could never quite get about the royal Canterlot voice was the being an Alicorn bit. Well, at least she nailed one new trick her new form had given her. She turned her attention solely on Apep and made use of another recent talent she'd picked up. The Bar Mare's stare, staple of everypony who'd had a violent drunk in a bar and wanted to get rid of them without resorting to the solid lump of oak kept, threateningly, just in sight under the counter. "TELL ME SERPENT, WHAT IS IT YOU FEAR? IS IT THE ENDING OF YOUR TRIVIAL EXISTENCE? WORRY NOT, THOUGH RA'S SHADOW IS NEEDED NO MORE THIS NEED BE NO ENDING. SO THAT OUR DOMAIN SHALL NOT BE SULLIED WITH YOUR BLOOD AND THAT OUR EYES ABHOR THE DIRE ASPECT OF YOUR MALICE, THUS BE OUR PRONOUNCEMENT UPON YOU. BANISHMENT. THAT YOU SHALL NOT REGREET OUR FAIR DOMAIN, BUT DWELL IN PERPETUITY WITHIN THE DEPTHS OF TARTARUS WHERE NO LIGHT HAS, NOR NEVER NONE SHALL FALL." She tried her damnedest to remember something she'd overheard about casting magic, but drew little. Remembering how she commanded her old necklace however, she tried willing her armour to glow more. Or angrier. Or something. "OR SHALL WE TALK THE DEATH AND BIRTH OF SUNS? A BLESSING NOT EVEN AN IMMORTAL MAY SEE TWICE, FOR IT'S FURY WILL NOT STAND TO SEE EVEN YOUR BONES LEFT BLEACHED BY MY DREAD ASPECT, NOR THE SAND TURNED TO GLASS BENEATH US HOLD EVEN A SHADOW OF YOUR FORM. EXISTENCE OR OBLIVION SERPENT. CHOOSE WISELY, BUT CHOOSE QUICKLY." Keep them on their toes, maintain the initiative, don't give them any time to think or question. That was the key to a good con. Ha. She knew that plugging her ears had been a good idea. The thing that she had thought was defenseless had just knocked a heck of a lot of people out. Glamour wasn't looking forward to having to go against that thing. But for now they would have to face the boogyman. And suddenly… With the hoof shake. Glamour didn't get why. But she had the sense of rightness. It wasn't a coherent thought. Just an instinctual thing. She could feel a bubbling surge of power in her at the familiar word, when the transaction happened. Equestria. Glamour had heard it from her father. She'd never felt this powerful. Now… Glamour had always been wary not to lay claim to anything because she hadn't had the power to defend it. It was a firm draconic creed. If you couldn't defend it you didn't deserve to keep it. So Glamour had had nothing in her hoard. Not even her parents. She was in her mother's hoard, and happy to be so. But this feeling… She'd thought she'd felt powerful before. But this was another thing entirely. And she had this feeling… Something was hers, and something oozing its grubby little fingers all over it. Glamour had had the feeling before. But she hadn't the strength to do anything about it. But now. She had the power. It was hers. Glamour could take it back. Glamour clenched her teeth together. She'd make it right. She'd get the thing out of her… Hoard thingy. She "tugged" at one of the maddened ones experimentally to see what might happen, trying to draw the madness out. Glamour hoped this would work… She wasn't sure though. This whole thing had set off alarm bells from the beginning. |

The command of her god sent Ndege reeling, filled with a sudden, sharp exhaustion. She slumped beside Swali, leaning upon him for strength she no longer possessed, eyes fluttering. To sleep, yes. She wanted sleep. She wanted the soft numbness of rest. It was so dark. Dark was for sleeping. She could sleep, and not have to feel death come for her. Swali was warm beside her, steady and strong. Why did he not sleep? She wanted to ask him, but her mouth refused to form the words. <<Because I am not yet tired.>> He rumbled, picking the question from her as he so often did. <<Rest. I will stand guard.>> It was a simple statement. One made a thousand times before. Swali was not like her, not like any other sphinxes. He could sleep an hour or two in the middle of they day, and stand tall and acute all the length of the night. Ndege snorted softly as the ground came up to meet her. All the night long. Not this night, though. This was a long... night... She inhaled a sudden, choking breath of dirt and grass, ears twitching as she tried desperately to dredge herself up, away. Disobey. She was good at that. That was her game. Disobey the words of the king. She had fallen, together with the others. She had met his demand and collapsed to the ground and now she was going to stand up again, because all she ever did was disagree. That was why she had come here, rather than be enfolded into the Hive of Equestria when given the opportunity. She managed to open one eye, to make sense of little scraps of noise. A familiar voice was yelling above her. One of the ponies. It was... it was.. Her eyes rolled back, and her ears fell limp. Swali growled and shook his head. Equestrians and their language were hard enough to decipher at the best of times. But had this one really come to him at this moment, and demanded a gift of land? "No." He gritted out. A single word that he could use easily. Had used often, in fact, when dealing with these foals form the north months ago. Beside him, Ndege stirred as her swamped mind tried to make sense of the words. There had to be a reason. That was the Chief pony, the one that ruled a parcel of far away land. The clever one. Why would he do this now? The realization burned through her like a spark, and she heaved wildly, scrabbling desperately to make limbs leaden with exhaustion obey her for one last great push. She lurched into a slump, still half laying, and forced her hoof into the pony's. "Yes. Let my honor as Pundali seal, The righteousness and truth of the deal." She slurred, hoarse and desperate, before collapsing once more. Her work done, she let her mortal mind slip into rest, even as she felt Swali growl his distaste, even as the echoing voice of another, familiar yet novel god rattled her ragdoll body. "Not you, Bloodsong." Apep rejoined to her question of fears, even as its power fell from beneath it at the transaction of land. This was still a world where darkness reigned, and so too did Apep. "I have tasted your essence. You are no more the Sun, nor the Light than I, for all you wear their dress." The words were half statement, half taunt. Let her prattle on about what she believed herself capable of. There was nothing about her blood that sang of sun and summer and day. And then she tried, and oh it was a beautiful thing to watch. She tried to combat it with her newfound power, and she fumbled and failed and proved herself no more a warrior than she had been moments ago. Its brief concern had been misplaced. "I would not let-" The gold responded quickly and fluidly to the commands of the encased goddess, shining bright enough to burn mortal eyes, radiating the heat of a thousand fires. It was no sun, but it was quite a contribution. That alone was concerning enough, but when again and again sharp lances of light washed over Ra's skull, and the dying sphinx twitched... Now came the fear, though there was no way for rolling sheets of shadow to display it. Instead, it merely leeched into the few conscious minds remaining, driving them now to crazed terror, in the hopes that one would take action to its benefit. The last few shards and tendrils it had launched into the sides of the combatants fell away, melting into nothing beneath the accost of the light. Fortune smiled upon Apep then, as a crazed, maddened beast tore into the flesh of one of the fallen warriors. Fallen, but not dead. Not until now. Such a small thing, but enough to give it one last chance, as the the light of the zebra's life darkened permanently. At the gentle tug of a familiar and unwelcome force, the massive dome began to crumble, letting the glow of sunbird and false goddess Moon Chaser alight upon the plain, overwhelming the pale light of the moon easily. But a single tendril of shadow, the summed power of the snake now, given shape only by the death of the zebra, made its last move, slipping silent and unseen between the stark shadows of the grass blades. The falling dome, after all, would serve as distraction enough, and none of the experienced fighters who might recognize the trick were awake or alive enough to catch it. It answered her question decisively and quickly, just as she no doubt wished. They were all lies. What harm was there in choosing lie upon lie upon lie? It did not even notice the way the decision seemed made for it. The way it fell to her commands without thought. "I am oblivion." The snake of shadow struck, moving quickly, before the light might rouse the one true combatant, lunging towards the fallen body of Ra. All it had to do was take that one last coal of life from it before the light-spells of the changelings and the ambient glow of sword, feather and armor might rouse it to flame again. Just make it dark. That would be an ending to surpass all endings, enough to power it far beyond the limitations of a lost land and a renewed light. Mistake after mistake, the snake made on this day. Because there was one experienced warrior with his wits still about him. One with trained eyes that could spot the subtle movement of a familiar trick. Yellow and brown and gold, warmth and thick, dust-covered fur. It sensed these things at it brought its venom down upon flesh. The wrong flesh. Flesh of something injured, but not dying. Something tired but not exhausted. The heavy body fell beneath the assault, but curled into itself, as Swali brought his padded paw down on the snake clinging to his haunch, pinning it there. The light seared it, exposed like this. It drove fangs deeper into the body, emptying its poison into blood. But it made no difference, for it was the wrong blood. "You were right." A whisper, light and treumlous, came from beside it as Ra, still trembling and weak, stalked around Swali, to stare down the cobra that clung to Swali's flank. "Or was I wrong?" The white sphinx cocked his head, but Apep paid him no mind. If it could but kill this one immortal sphinx, perhaps it would have power enough to escape. "We do not fall together. Only you." No. It was too late, too late to run. Eons. Eternities. They condensed to this. This one ending, to surpass all endings, that would make blood sing with magic, make bodies melt into permanence. Thus the war was ended, and its name of Eternal proved for naught, by the simple press of strong jaws on the frail skull of a meager, hooded black cobra. |

Mitsugi was full. His belly had been filled, his ravenous hunger finally sated. He looked around, blood, saliva, and bits of flesh hanging from his jaws, between his teeth; his coat was flecked with the blood of his fallen comrade, one that he no longer recognized- Many. There were many meals here, together. He could not defeat them all; he was but one against a tide. Even without the boon of a conscious mind, he could see that he was hopelessly outmatched. Two. There were two Great Natures here. Two of them! They could end him with but a glance! Flee. Regroup. Rest. Yes... Yes, he must flee. He would leave, find himself his lair and rest until he was hungry again. And with that, Mitsugi took to the air, flying off and away. Away from the meals that would overwhelm him, the Great Natures that each alone could end him. Towards the horizon, to find a place to rest. |

The discolored unicorn watched as the half-dragon fled from the battle, her horn glowing pink again as she fired a bolt at him. He was working for Apep, causing death among the warriors and feeding his master. There was nothing else to be don- Her head suddenly exploded with pain, she couldn't even cry out by the time it overwhelmed her and she passed out. Boipelo looked around at the torn up landscape, now revealed under the cold moon's glare. Though his expression had never once been 'happy' this whole time, the frown upon it deepened as he felt the magic that permeated Gaia's very air, pushing it in the right places to get what he wanted. Clouds began to appear, dark clouds heavy with water as the swelled, then finally let loose over the battlefield. There was a very minor flood (barely enough to cover hooves) in response as he strained himself to cover as much as he could, but he finally stopped with a gasp, content to let the rain handle itself. There were still other matters to attend, so he would wait until the others dispersed to discuss them. Skye panted, still walking with a limp thanks to her wound, but otherwise not too badly off. She'd taken some hits from the shadows, but given as good as she'd gotten with her flashers until they'd run out. Now, however, she couldn't help but smile. One of the lightning flashes from the clouds had illuminated the bag she had lost in her crash, still whole and it's contents intact. Time to make damned sure there weren't any more shadowy surprises out there. She swung the bag around in her mouth for a few times, then tossed it up high. "Fire in the hole!" She watched it come down on a rock, before closing her eyes. The flashers exploded in a blindingly bright light, easily enough to illuminate the area to as bright as day for only a second before fading away. Skye opened her eyes with a smirk. THAT should take care of any shadows still left. "Awesome." Galaxy 'woke up' in a manner of speaking, though she could tell that was still not really the case. There was no sand or grass beneath her, no lingering smell of smoke from the dead flames, so something wasn't right. "You really are a mess, aren't you?" She turned, then reeled back in shock as she saw, actually saw, a little filly standing there. That shock just deepened as she recognized the filly, having seen her in the mirror many times back when she could still see. Galaxy was staring at the young version of herself, with a pair of blue eyes that hadn't been part of her since her accident. "And I don't mean just this." The filly Galaxy touched the grown one's head just to the side of the eye sockets. "...and now I'm talking to myself; I've finally lost it." Galaxy turned away, only to find her filly self blocking her way yet again. "You 'lost it' when you decided to start blasting everypony else at random." "They were working for Apep!" She shouted in the filly's face. "I had to stop them, they were giving him more power. I... I needed to make up for what I-" "What you what?!" The filly cut her off. "You were helping the good guys, fighting him, and then you stopped!" "BECAUSE I KILLED THOSE PONIES!" Galaxy was outright shrieking now. "I killed them because I wouldn't shut up; it's my fault. It's all my fault." "NO!" Her filly self was just as loud. "Apep killed them! Apep killed them because he didn't want you telling everypony else how to stop him; his power is fear, and you were making other ponies not afraid of him. That was why he killed them!" "SO WHAT?!" Galaxy turned away again, trying to get away from herself. "I still did nothing this whole fight; I'm still just a useless narwhal that can't even help herself." And the filly was back just in time to punch her in the nose. Yeah, t was still a filly hitting a mare, but it still hurt. "That is a lie!" "No it's-" "Shut up! Yes it is!" Her filly self actually looked rather angry. "You honestly think you're useless; let me remind you what this 'useless' unicorn has done. When other foals were still learning how to light things up and levitate pencils, you managed part of a teleport spell on a rock. And when that didn't work out, you fought the odds and survived injuries even the doctors thought were fatal!" The filly vanished, but she could still hear her. "When you needed to see, you brought the stars down from the sky to light your world!" There was one of her pings, revealing her to be in a street with countless other ponies and her beacons shining in the distance, then another with the massive form of a dragon looming over her. "When a dragon showed up out of the blue, and everypony else was freaking out, you walked right up to him and asked him out!" Another ping, and she was surrounded by junk. "When you fell out of the universe, you found your way back and learned just how powerful your magic was." And she suddenly smelled the smoke and heard the crackling of flames. "And when a god told you he needed soldiers for a suicide mission- after pulling you halfway across the world- you stood firm and joined the battle. Now, the battle is over and you are still ALIVE! You fought a god, and you WON! How are you useless?!" Galaxy couldn't think of a response to that rant, still stunned by it. "That's what I thought." The filly was back, still glaring at her. "Now, there are zebras that need your help. So go wake them up!" Galaxy gasped, shooting upright in the rain that she was suddenly soaked in. Though she couldn't see it, her color was back to normal once more. Not speaking a word, the overly pink unicorn stood up and walked over to the first zebra she could find. She could still see the magic, weakened but still present, and began to push her own magic into key points of the matrix. A moment later, the spell shattered and the zebra started awake. Still silent, Galaxy made her way to the next spellbound local; she had a lot of work to do yet. Edited by SaintAbsol, Aug 22 2012, 12:44 PM.

Noblesse loudly raps his hooves on a convenient stone to attract everypony’s attention, before shouting out in a tone of one who expected his orders to be followed “Ok, Everypony, we just wrote history here. A thousand years hence ponies will tell stories of this day! However stay on your hooves all, that snake’s way too treacherous to go to his death without leaving any parting surprises for us. When the story of this day I’d rather it didn’t end with some foalish pony blowing us all to kingdom come by poking at what ought not be poked at. Those of you still up and about, go and check on those still unconscious. Separate the dead by species over there. Arrange those merely unconscious over there so that Lady Galaxy can wake them. Come on Ponies! Move it!” “And stop your faking you,” Noblesse says swiftly STRONG kicking “unconscious” Lantern Jack in the side. “Resorting to violence, Nobby? Not very gentlemanly of you,” Jack says rising to his hooves and morphing away the already forming bruise, “And for the record, I was just waiting for the opportune moment to strike, but then you all beat me to it. Oh well~~~” |
