"The target is taking the bait," Gryilldae reported. "He seems to be headed to the throne room, as predicted. Guard losses are nonexistent, all soldiers stationed have been dispatched nonlethally."

One of the ponies around the table snorted. "This idea of yours is foolish, Changeling. We should have a sqaud capture the assassin and be done with it."

"This is not an assassin. This is a vigilante of great skill who has been affected by a currently unknown force. Normal capture methods would fail. Captain Nobelesse and sodier Hack have confronted the target as planned..."

He tilted his head suddenly. "Why is lady Anamoon present?"

"What?"

"It appears the castle was not entirely evacuated as planned."

"Ugh..." One of the guards facehooved. "I knew we shouldn't have done this."

Gryilldae's ears flickered. A civilian? What was this about glue? And suddenly there was combat...

"...target has escaped. Teleportation, location unknown."

"I knew it. I knew you couldn't be allowed to--"

"Civilians got involved. If the civilians hadn't gotten involved the plan would have been implemented flawlessly." Gryilldae glowered at the pony. "Did none of you think to set up guards to keep out non-military personnel?"

"...Even so, the fact remains--"

"The target is still out there. With your permission I;d like to send out local scouts to determine his location." Lantern Jack, report all magical and emotional readings from target.

'Don't know jack squat about magic,' Came the reply almost immediately from Jack's hiding spot as a "statue" in the hall leading to the throne room from which he had seen the entire scene go down, 'But his emotions tasted weird. They ain't being magically influenced either, those always taste plastic-y. It was like..... trying to pass off a painting of a bowl of fruit for the real thing, ya know? I haven't seen anything like that before....

Well, whatever. Nob's says that he's likely still in the city since his specialty isn't in Teleportation, and the Net's ready to be cast at the order. We've got changelings, pegasi, and telepathy-equipped unicorns stationed around Canterlot to run him down like hounds chasing a fox, and I'm off to join the fun. PCHOOOOOO!.'

Locate but do not engage, wait for further orders. Send your observations on the target to Petrifier. Petrifier, analyze magical content and report.

One of the upsides of having a totally voluntary military was the sheer amount of variety in individual soldiers and their specialities. One of the downsides, however, was their often conflicting personalities. Gryilldae tuned out Petrifier's mad laughter and monologue, only waiting for the actual information to be given.

All Canterlot Military Changlings begin search for target. Do not engage. When located, ping location. When located, none-locating changelings are to inform military ponies of target's location. Await further orders.
