Kiernan Kelpie Male
Appearance: - Kiernan is the quintessential kelpie. His skin is blacker than midnight, with a mane so black that it's nearly blue. Constantly wet and dripping, sopping from head to toe with eyes a crimson red, pin-prick pupils set within a sea of scarlet. His ears are longer than most, lagged and pointed at the ends to the point where they almost appear as horns, thick tufts of fur drifting from the innter ear to float down and frame his long and well-defined face. In the fashion of a unicon, he has a thin goatee that runs down his chin. Set in his jaws, his teeth are long and sharp, almost needle-like. They can appear hollow, though they're really quite powerful and can easily rend flesh and muscle.
Constantly soaking wet, his hide gleams and glimmers similar to that of a dolphin, though if he were to be touched, the flesh would be smooth--and sticky. A strong adhesive that can be secreted at will, worse than superglue. Lake weeds and river plants are constantly strewn about his person, often wrapped around him in decorative fashions, or sometimes just clinging to his frame. His limbs--all four of them--are scaled similarly to a fish, and the length of his muzzle has two small horns that resemble a rhino just above his nostrils, which are set higher on his snout than a normal pony. His tail is thick and powerful, and due to a glamour, often appears curled over his back in a fashion remniscent of a wheel, the long mane watrlogged and draped over his haunches. In reality, the tail is similar to that of a porpoise rather than a fish, as the motion that propells him is up and down, rather than side to side.
As for his build, he is a strong and powerful stallion, the likes of which could make almost anybody jelous. Long legs and a thick and well-built musculature give the kelpie a shadowy and dangerous look...and in his case, judging a book by its' cover is a very, very good idea.
Cutie Mark: Personality: - Ah, Kiernan. Again, the quintessential kelpie. A debonair and suave type of male with the ability to gleefully twist words into whatever satisfies and suits him, accompanied by a passionate deception, a silvered tongue seeping honeyed words. Quite the Abomination to exisistance, sickeningly venomous smile spreading noxious untruth, masking unsavory whims. A veritable prince of liars and thieves, he draws great pleasure in the pain and suffering of others and will often find ways to provide this. On the flip side, he can make friends, and when he does--as few and far between as they are--he will protect them with his life. He can and does feel love, though it usually is bound to infuriate him, especially because he will act on it.
He's known to be violent, cruel and volatile, this all ontop of the fact that his diet is enough to make the average dragon squeamish--he eats ponies. Fillies, Colts, stallions and mares, ponies ponies ponies. He will devour them and leave only their hearts and livers, as he dislikes the taste of those particular organs. This makes him a very bloodlusty creature, and though he occasionally enjoys a fish, your best bet to get through his domain with all of your limbs is to offer him a gift. Usually a pound of flesh or something of the sort, though he's terribly attracted to shiny things so you might also have a good chance of getting through if you come bearing gifts of sparklies.
He's also quite vain, and does his best to always look immaculate and perfect in all ways, despite constantly looking drenched. He remains quite handsome, if one could find something as terrifying as him as being 'handsome', and he will work to keep this up, often forgoing other, more important things...like companionship.
History: - In the beginning, there was nothing. Well, there was something, and that something were two someones and one someone was a kelpie while the other was an unfortunate unicorn.
Kiernan was born from them. Out of wedlock, or course, and as kelpies aren't known to stick around for their offspring, was almost entirely alone. His singular companion was a phoenix chick named Peepi, and she was the only one who'd known his secrets. He confided in her, and she confided in him.
Together, they explored the area around Kiernan's river, and found that it flowed into a rather deep lake. Filled with pleasure at the discovery, Kiernan settled in for the long haul. Of course, this wasn't to last long, as the pegasi from Cloudsdale had chosen that particular lake for their water. Swept up into the ensuing tornado, he was tossed to and fro and finally thrown into a cloud basin. Unable to cloudwalk, he fell through and landed in a smaller lake in what would soon be ponyville.
It was rather close to the edge of the Everfree Forest, and when the Apple family settled in, Kiernan was uprooted and moved deeper into the waterholes and lakes in town, where he has slept and resided ever since. Normally, the stories say that unfortunate ponies are swept under by the wicked undertoe and the harsh current of the river and the deep trenches of the lake, though every 50 years or so, a strange pony-like creature comes into town.
Some say he's hunting, others say he's just looking for company. The truth is both. He's hunting for a good time...and maybe a bite to eat.
Fun Facts: - In order to move around in towns and cities, he actually has two water-proof saddlebags on him. How are they waterproof, you may ask?
They're made of flesh. Flesh is waterproof. Don't...don't think too hard on it.
He's also incredibly skilled with illusions and glamours. When it comes to physical spells, he's pretty bad....but he doesn't need spells to be physical.
