I didn't get .hack//sign. The white-haired kid had emotional issues.

Maybe they'l develop something like in Minority Report before the full-fledged Virtual Universe: funky screens that you can touch. Or they might make the gaming standard a 50" plasma and sub a keyboard and mouse with dual handguns. Wewt!

No offense to anyone here, but i never played video games as a kid because i sucked so hard at them all. I hate video games. Is there something wrong with me?

this is the future of gaming, it won't be more than a few years when we are able to recreate the exact moment you are reading this.

I see MMO's being more socially-oriented (rather than grind-oriented, where the major focus is gaining levels) more common, and less expensive (as it gains more mainstream appeal). I say this because if more people join a game, then more will be casual players who don't want to shell out $15 monthly to pay a game after paying about $60 to get it. As the subscription price goes down (or, like in Guild War, is eliminated) more and more people will join. Because there will be so many people, it will probably be near impossible to become one of the strongest character around, so few people will have this goal (unlike the current goal of MMO's). Hell, we might even get to the point where a Saturday evening well-spent is a dungeon crawl with friends.

Tournaments will be more common and the general attitude towards these tournaments will be more like in South Korea today (including a good amount of media coverage). The tournaments probably won't go beyond first person shooters and real time strategy for a while.

This, of course, assumes that the industry continues to expand and become more accessable to the general public. It's possible that they will become so expensive that they're solely the playthings of the upper-middle to upper class (which, given the price of new consoles these days, isn't altogether unlikely).

As for being in the game, that's long off if it even happens. Personally speaking, if I want to get punched and feel it for fun I'd pick a fight.

there is more then VR
why not making some kind of verry good holograms,
you could make a virtual pet in hologram for ppl who don't have mutch time, you would have to spend time with it but only when you put on the console

or you could use holograms for strategy and manager games, you have a better 3d board to play on, us some kind of stylus that sends out a signal when it moves through the hologram, or could watch the race where the driver you are managing is winning his race in full 3d

then i dont think we realy want something like the matrix, because what about the ppl with overwight, having trouble with moving a lot etc...
what we need is some kind of glasses, or helmet where you see something like 3d (you know, they can do this already, they give you paper or plastic glasses put you in a moving chair and there you go a 4d (depends if you count time with it) cinema)
but they could put something special in the glaces, eye trackers or something, if you look to the left or right, it will turn to that side so you will be able to see it better.

what do you ppl think about this? or want to end up all dying in a matrix

Fat people can just compete with other fat people, or they could just hack the game.

Bank Robber In The Matrix: The bank is surrounded by cops, the robber busts open the door. "Freeze!" The robber slowly reaches into his pocket and takes out a potato. The Cops stare in confusion, the Robber starts running with his super speed mod and fired 10 000 000 rockets a second from his potato! The Cops, "Argh, HaxXoRS!"

Question for you Malacor- Do you play warhammer 40k, by any chance?

To topic- I prefer low tech myself. My N64, over a hundred dolars when first released was only introduced in the 90s. I still prefer it to the new systems.

I also like the old NES a lot. Classic Mario Bothers is fun and Duck hunt never gets old.

I think eventually we're just gonna start punching our friends in the face and saying "good game" after, that sounds pretty realistic to me.
