Then the question becomes, at what point to we want to recognize human life?  At the point where the natural process resulting in a human begins (fertilization)?  At the point where the body becomes self sustaining (quickening)?  At the point where the functions that define a human as a human begin (brain activity, then, any brain activity, or higher brain activity such as is necessary for the human intellect)?

This is my point. We don't have an answer for this. How can there even be serious arguements for when to and when not terminate a pregnancy when we can't even decide when it's just a fertilized egg or a human being.

When does human life begin?  Conception?  Brain wave activity?  Heart beat?  Birth?  If you kill the human after whichever event is determined by the start of life then its wrong.

Actually, the start would be the sperm coming out of the male at orgasm. So imagine how many you've killed.

Religious people are stupid. If anything, they've spoiled all the fun we could have had as a species.

Why exactly would you place the bar there? If sperm are babies then why are eggs that go unfertilized not babies too? Are millions of babies killed to make one then, therefor, by that logic? Sorry, I can't see any rationale for that; it isn't a human until conception has happened at the very least because before that point there is no guarentee that a human will be the end product of the uninterrupted natural process. After fertilization though, assuming nothing happens to stop the natural process, a human is the end result.

Or are you not even being serious?

He was being sarcastic. He was comparing the logic of saying that sperm does carry genetic material capable of making a new life so shouldn't that classify as life. (Not saying I agree with this just pointing it out.)

We will never be able to agree when a fetus becomes a human because there are so many variables. I am pro-choice but I would rather avoid abortions if we could.

On this question, i say at the point of contraception is when life begins and if you could not take care of the baby for whetever reson, then you shouldent destroy the life cause it's just as valuble as yours but instead, drop it of at a orphanage so it can have a chance to experience life and try to carve there own future.

The only situations that i support abortions is in the situation whitch the mother will become permanently damaged if she has the baby.

But all this can be avoided if the girl just understands that it's not a clown car(riped of Picture wars), Or atleast, let the man where a glove, but i prefer the frist.
Love and trust in one another,
never fear that we might fall.
Because God gave us friends,

I am all for education but it won't prevent all pregnancies. Both teenage boys and girls are really bad at holding back urges even when they know it will hurt them in the long run and adding alcohol will only make it worse.

Condoms do break and birth control do fail as well.

wow long old forum *dusts it off gives it some plant food*

Alright let see..

I'm for abortion aslong as they use the fetuses for stem cell research. Cloneing is too damn important to give up on. If your not gonna use the fetuses it's a waste of fetus then and shouldn't be done.

I really don't care what we do. Pesonally, I'm pro-choice, but I dont think its worth arguing about. But I do get suspicious about someone who is completely for or against it. That just sets off my "hidden agenda"-o-meter.
I was sitting in the park one day and wondered why frisbees look bigger as they get closer to you. And then it hit me.

Abortion has saved me from parenthood on more than one occasion. Not proud of that, but I can only imagine the shit storm that would have been created had we had the child and I stayed with the young girl to take care of it. Everlasting pain for all involved.

If the Christian Conservatives believe so strongly in a paradisical life everlasting, why do they constantly try to keep people from dying. It seems to me that you'd be thankful you're in eternal bliss, or that you'd be willing to spare a child life on Earth in exchange for Paradise in Heaven.

Christianity is special in the way that even if there was an answer it would prove itself wrong anyway... but they are still right because "God said so"

Nope, they're not. To themselves maybe, but when arguing with an atheist that's an useless argument.

I personally have little objection to it.

However, I think my opinoins are irrelivant (or as close to irrelivant as one can be). It is neither my body, nor my kid, and thus not my place to decide. Who am I to impose my morals on others?

Preganacies aren't the worst thing you can get from having sex you know...I'd be more worried about a STD than a kid...

We impose our morals on people all the time even when it isn't our kid or our body with laws against child abuse, prostitution, suicide, etc...

It doesn't change my argument. Just add STDs to pregnancies.
