I believe Einstein proved with mathmatics that if you were
t change something in the past, the current future would remain
the same, however, another branch would be created. The branch created
is the reality you altered.

He didn't prove it. It is still a theory.

I heard it was proved.. Hm.

The best explaination I could come up with a short time ago, when I was asked about this...

You could not possibly 'pop' in or out of one place of time into another. To do this would be creating matter and energy out of nothing.

No it wouldn't. It would be using the fuel source (whatever it is) and would expel some kind of matter that probably would not be the kind we know. Anyhoo, there would be no creation of matter or destruction of matter.
To hell with that.

This sounds awfully like the plot of C&C: Red Alert.

I'd love a computer game with time travel. Been working on a few plans myself.

Penrose diagrams show a method of time travel - go about four times faster than light to enter your past light cone and poof. Actually, you have to remember that time will only go backwards as fast as it goes forwards in that situation, meaning a minute is a minute, only backwards, making 30-year time travels really boring.

Hi, I'm new by the way.

Games with time travel:

Chrono Trigger
Prince of Persia
(both are good... at least i thought so)

And Hi!

RED ALERT TOO I love it.
Wine in hand, in the other, Quran,
Both halal I do and haram,
In this incomplete world of a sham,
Neither Pagan I am, nor Musselman!

Omar Khayyam

Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, idolater, worshipper of fire,
Come even though you have broken your vows a thousand times,
Come, and come yet again.
Ours is not a caravan of despair

Im not claming to be a scientist or anything, but the issue i have with time travel to the past is that, If time traveling to the past is possible, then why arent we haveing to people of the future come vist us today?

There could be many resons but it's jsut somthing to think about.

P.S: I herd Einstein dident prove his theory on time travel and that it's just that, a theory.

As for backwards time travel: I can disprove that with ease:
There has never been anyone from the future in this time. Nor has there been anyone from the future in the far past, since this is way too different from the everyday way of life that it will inevitably be recorded in history. But it hasn't. Therefore, backwards time travel is impossible since IF we would have the technology we wouldvé tested it at some point.

1. The mission doesn't necessarily have to include introducing new technologies to us. They could remain in disguise.

</bullshit theory>

The second point I want to make is that you can't travel farther backwards in time than the very second you've created the wormhole through which to travel. That is to say, if you were to create a time machine tomorrow, you couldn't travel into today. However, ten thousand years from now, you could travel into tomorrow.

Hey! Let's not listen to me!!

On another note, they're all theories. Gravity, Relativity, etcetera. You just can't perfectly prove them. As long as they work, we figure we have the right idea.

Simply because that would mess things up, so they are quiet about it... or the people who know are quiet about it... also there is the fact that if you can go back in time you have an infinite amount of time (assuming you made someone do it after your death, with time travel it would not be that hard) to fix any mistakes you made. Time travel only does not work when you don't count the ability to transverse time into your calculations.

(this applies to the why don't we know about it, not to any physical boundaries to time travel)

So what exactly would have been the point to go back in time. Whatever you do won't have an effect when you go back. Pre assassinations like killing a boy Hitler would make no difference.

I believe that if you go back in time, you were meant to go back in time.
