Dear Chinese Symbol Guy,

I am from Kentucky, have a college education, speak dern good english and consider myself relatively intelligent. Please refrain from further allusion to Kentuckians being "backwoods" and illiterate. Let's try a new one, Mississippi perhaps. ALEC ranks them 50th in the nation in terms of education; New Mexico is 49th; Louisiana's 48. Kentucky stands at a respectable 39th.

We're pretty sensitive here in Kentucky, as we are often the brunt of many a "you're dumb and have no teeth and work in a coal mine and don't wear shoes and know your sister in a carnal sense" joke. We've done a lot to try and improve our stature. For starters, we joined the Union during the Civil War. You call it peer pressure or erring on the side of caution, I call it genuine concern for the sanctitiy of human life and the preservation of the Federation. We make the most and the best bourbon. And we don't keep it to ourselves. We graciously sell it to any and all cuckold looking for a way to escape the pain. Also, we're home to the nations largest tobacco crop and producers like Philip Morris and Brown and Williams. Their products will kill one in five people in the US. Name me another state that can boast those kind of numbers.

In closing, I earnestly emplore you to give Kentucky another look before continuing to use us as a negative comparison. Now, feel free to berate me with large-print, red bold lettering.

Sincerely,
Kontent in Kentucky

PS: I too would like to know where you are from.

Yeah, my bad. Sorry about that. (Although in my defense I'd like to point out that I said "backwoods Kentucky" not "Kentucky, the backwoods". ;) )

I'll use Mississippi from now on. :D

Thanks, but you might be allowed to make fun of rednecks and the backwoods - you sound alot more cultured than most.

And for the record, I'm from the largest, most metropolitan and cultured city in Kentucky. Most inKentucky don't like us.

Back to the original topic:

I think that LINCOLN-BOT 9000 would kick all of the other presidents collective behinds.

Seriously though, FDR and the New Deal were pretty awesome, and LBJ's Great Society was a good idea, but he loses due to Vietnam.

As much as I don't care for Clinton, I have to give him credit for turning around the Reagan-Bush decline.

Also: Reagan? Bad president. Most actual historians and political scientists (as well as most of the former Soviet leaders) believe that Reagan didn't actually hasten the fall of the Soviet Union by more than a few weeks, as his policies weren't much more than continuations of those of his predecessors. Also, Reagan's domestic record is awful, and I lay the blame for "Voodoo economics" (Ironically, Bush I labeled them that) a.k.a. Supply Side Economics, which is one of the biggest attempted ripoffs of the American people since the Gilded Age.

I don't care what he liked to eat, that's his personal life and no business of the public. I do care about his policy and his actions in the capacity of POTUS, which aren't terribly impressive.

But I like Jelly Beans too.

Why do people seem to care what a president does in their personal life? I don't care if Kevin Federline is my predident as long as he makes me richer and keeps me safer and makes me feel good because my country isn't the asshole of the universe.

There's no way you'll beat my "Not have sex with interns" and "People enjoy having beer with me" platform.
