I heard they play Red Hot Chili Pepers for a form of torture... That's not a joke, I might add. They really do. The basic idea of torture is flawed because, while being tortured, one will say anything in order to stop being tortured. I don't think anyone there has any information that might be vital to know, anyway. |

Well, Jim, that depends entirely on the desired outcome of torture. There are possible desired results besides information-gathering. . . And since when do the Chili Peppers count as torture? What's next, Santana? |

Err.... such as? There's not usually much point in torturing someone unless you're trying to get them to say something. |

Hey, there're plenty of non-redneck sadists out there. But, breaking people, punishing them, or otherwise seriously psychologically damaging an individual could be the desired end of prolonged torture. And please, noone comment about their bedroom activities. If I wanted to see that, I'd look for it. On that note, I have to leave the thread on an . . .er . . . unrelated matter. |

The saftey word is "Jinkies." But, I mean, why bother torturing them? Why not just kill them? It's easier, it's cheaper, it's faster, it's a lot less likely that the person will sue you, and most likely no one will ever know it happened. If you want information, start killing them slowly but with the intent to kill, and eventually they will tell you to prevent death. Then finish it up. |

I object to the term as now the invasion can't be justifyied through the WMD or terrorist link arguement (cause they turned out to be bullshit) so the coalitions only remaining objective is freedom and democracy for Iraq. Also Iraqi insurgents are either Islamists trying to impose Islamic law on everyone else, Baathist supporters who wanna go back to Saddams old days of mass murder or just people fighting vicious ethnic war- none of whom are very keen on freedom. |

Depends what you mean by freedom. Freedom to impose their own domestic system of governance without foreign interference? |

Impose islamic law on everyone else, eh? Well, seeing as how the vast majority is islamic, that's not a big deal. In fact, last I checked, Islamic law is pretty similar to regular law when you look at the basic principals of it and any other law: "Be a good person." The old days of mass murder, eh? You mean that time in the 80s when he gassed a village for rebelling? Kind of like that time in the 90s we gassed a bunch of people in a building for "rebelling?" If a city was going to start being aggresive towards the rest of the United States, I would hope we would take care of it. How can you be keen on freedom? We sure use those words Freedom and Democracy together a lot, and we never really understand what they mean. The nation of Iraq was free up until we stormed in and took them over. Now it's not free. Now it's dominated by a foreign force. Why care so much about "freedom and democracy" in just IRaq? I don't see us invading every other country in the world with the exception of a couple European states for those same reasons. Any argument for the war involving bringing, supporting, or founding "freedom" in Iraq is pure propagandist bullshit. Atleast with the other bullshit you could define the term "anthrax." |

By Islamic law I meant hardline loving insane Islamic law the sort where men are whipped for cutting thier beards (what the taliban did when they were in power) or shotting people for the cardinal sin of doing something as disgraceful as wearing shorts (what a couple of Iraqi "freedom fighters" recent did to some of thier fellow countrymen). What gassing in the 90s? Saddam gassed a tiny village full of civilians it did not need "tak[ing] care of" which was just one of Saddam's thousands of terrible crimes. "The nation of Iraq was free up until we stormed in and took them over. Now it's not free. Now it's dominated by a foreign force." Jesus fucking Christ! Why give a Smurf! if "Iraq" was free? You see Iraq is a country without feelings or emotions its the PEOPLE that matter and they were certainly not free under Saddam. "I don't see us invading every other country in the world with the exception of a couple European states for those same reasons." See the graph here http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/govt-all.htm and see that democracy is not limited to "a couple of European states" far from it. Freedom and Democracy were never the main objective for the invasion but just a positive side effect and the only justification worth using anywmore. [edited to remove dirty words] |

Who is to say that the hardline insane law is wrong? They think it's a punishable crime to cut your beard. We think it's a punishable crime to not wear a seatbelt. Both only affect yourself, both are a choice, and both can have bad results (god being mad, you going through a windshield). We don't have "freedom" either. Wako Texas. We gassed a compound full of people, one of whom claimed he was Jesus. In fact, Saddam was more justified than us because we did it for no reason, where as he was trying to stay in power. What do you mean without feelings or emotions? It's a country. You're buying into the propaganda we're being fed. It's not some evil country that hates everything good or something stupid like that. The people were more free under Saddam than they are now. But now, please, define what you mean by "free." Do you mean free of laws? Because no place is like that. Should we bomb everyplace? Including ourselves? |
