Life has been disrupted, freedoms after freedoms are being taken away in the name of security, people word-wide are fearful of an attack on any place at any time, America is looking worse and worse on the global stage....

Is it possible to get on an airplane anymore if you have shoes or a bottle of water? Can governments (particularly America) really keep saying they don't have secret prisons?

At this rate, it won't be long before America and it's allies are completly expelled from the Middle East, and America will be only a shadow of it's former self by 2100 (or, worse case; divided between states that declare home-rule and other nations taking grabs at formerly American states and territories)
Deep unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.

Hopefully, that will never happen. America has taken away these freedoms, becuase they don't want anyone else to die and have a 9/11 every single day.

A 9/11 would NOT happen every single day; we've functioned for a long time without the Patriot Act, etc. Really, how many people are saved with wire-tapping? How many terrorist plots have been foiled ever since 9/11? These laws are only making people MORE paranoid and afraid, as well as directing some of this paranoia and fear towards their own government.

I didn't mean a 9/11 everyday literally, but maybe terrorist attacks will be more frequent. I don't know, this is just my opinion.

I gathered that you ment terrorist attack in general, and outside of the Middle East, my argument stands.

And sorry if my response seemed harsh.

Don't worry, it wasn't. You have a right to express your opinion in any non-violent way. :D Now about the terrorism, what do you think about the U.S. government tapping into phone calls?

No one is being protected, plain and simple. But whats more troubling is that the government doesn't need a warrent for Search and Seizure anymore, and in some cases arrests.

So how much longer do you think this "security" is going to last? I also find it funny we're the only people talking on this thread right now. :D

The US government can tap phone calls?

Can they do that in England as well?

I pranked the white house once, but I didn't get through to the switchboard, they were just like "White House" and sounded really important.

Never mind about we're the only one's talking here. :D Yep, the U.S. does that, and probably much more...I would assume England might do it, they might of already.

And did you really call the White House? I didn't think that's possible.

Yeah I downloaded this "Anarchists Cookbook" and it had a list of important numbers on it :o and we wanted to see if it actually worked, so white house was our first choice:
"White House"
"Hi it's Dave, can I have my tools back that you borrowed, I'm building a fence"
They hang up.

 , that's cool. What other numbers were in it?

By the way Altanese, i do kinda agree the terrorist won. They got us scared shitless and have been taking many "freedoms" from us.

The US haven't taken anyones freedoms have they?
Increased security is a good thing, less chance of a 9/11.

But if you think about it, what about the bus bombings last year in London?
Imagine having to be searched before getting on a bus

I think increased security is a good thing, if you ask me, i don't want to be blown up.

Being searched before you go on a bus is going a bit over the edge. Next they have to check before everytime we breathe to make sure it's safe...

"Those who would sacrifice essential liberties for a little extra security deserve niether freedom nor security." - Benjamin Franklin

And on a fun, totally unrelated note:

"Democracy is little more than a mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the population can take away the rights of the other fourty-nine." - Thomas Jefferson
