This is [i'm being modest] disturbing... It's more disturbing that the Senate approved it.

I agree, it seem's rather disturbing.
It bothers be about the whole secret evidence thing, it means anything could be fake, if your wanted in prison, out comes secret evidence and bang! your in.
Thats my opinion, although it may not happen like that.

Since when has anything in the world been fair?.
It's like soon the police will be armed with batons and wear gas masks connected to a nexus....no wait thats half life 2.

It's a bit shocking considering the whole claims of freedom america makes when everytime george bush speaks, although i suppose it could be worse, they could take away elections, and general rights.

(if my post's seem immature, just say, i don't want to appear an idiot).

Now, just add in other rediculous laws, take it with a pinch of salt, and there you have a perfect recipe for tyranny. Tastes best with a glass of the blood and sweat of the innocent, though black cherry soda works just as well.

Really, I'm not at all suprised. But I AM suprised that Bush hasn't personally pissed on the Bill of Rights yet.
Deep unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.

Maybe Bush isn't that bad of a president after all...........*waits for FBI agent to pass by and looks for wires*.......I was on the borderline with America being a fascist state or not but now you don't really have a choice but go with fascist. I don't think this will effect us too much except if you're on the government's bad side but the intent is bad enough.

Is this getting a lot of coverage becuase this is the first time I've heard about it?
Edit- There was an article on CNN about it but I think that is all, another example of Americans just turning the other way.

I veiw it as just another example of a press corps, that concentrates more on deadly stingrays, than it does on actual information. I believe that if the media, were allowed to inform Americans, we could make some damn good choices. But since they all have agendas, it's much harder, for most people to tune into what they need to tune into.

If it was televised, there would be sporatic and frequent riots. So, CNN and other media outlets are keeping under the rug [as with too many other stories].

I have a friend who works for a local news station. He is a real good person and compassionate. He has worked there for two years, producing the morning show. He tells me it would make me vomit on a daily basis if I heard what was thrown out for a lead that bleeds. They scratch so many GOOD stories, so they can broadcast stories about rape and murder. If it is the least bit tittilating, they air it. Also, the government sends in tapes of national news stories, by government paid reporters, that have skewed certain news stories that are in the national spotlight.

These reports are extremely unballanced. Designed to cloud the actual goings-on, for betterment of political agendas. For the most part, the stories are taken verbatim and aired. In some cases the actual tape that was sent in by government lackeys is aired. If you are ever watching a local newscast, and see someone you think may be new, and they do not have a sign off. You have just watched govt propaganda. This comes straight from the horses mouth. I think that NPR actually did a story on it.

Maybe it's just me, but that seemed to scarey and creepy to be real.
Especially the part about committees elected by Bush. He'll be gone in a few years.

Of course it only took Germany a good year to transform into a Nazi state.
...Matt was no exception to this. When he stood in the street and noticed his chest started to really hurt again, he made the decision to look down. He screamed like a grown man would scream when that grown man sees a laser burning his chest, and that is like a little girl...

If what this site says is true and unbiased it is one of the scariest things I've ever heard. If this is all true we now live in a facist state. If this is true ,I am now ready to rebel against all of this. Granted, my rights haven't been taken yet, but I am still pissed as Smurf! off.

I'm really scared guys. The more I think about this, the more and more scared I get. This is 10x scarier than 911 and all that bullshit, but it's not all over the news.

Search yourselves, it's been passed. Habeas corpus has been revoked.

On 29 September, 2006, the U.S. Senate approved a bill which would suspend habeas corpus for anyone determined to be an "unlawful enemy combatant engaged in hostilities or having supported hostilities against the United States"[1], [1] by a vote of 65-34. (This was the result on the bill to approve the military trials for detainees; an amendment to remove the suspension of habeas corpus failed 48-51.)

According to the ACLU, this bill "removes important checks on the president by: failing to protect due process, eliminating habeas corpus for many detainees, undermining enforcement of the Geneva Conventions, and giving a "get out of jail free card" to senior officials who authorized or ordered illegal torture and abuse." According to Christopher Anders, an ACLU Legislative Counsel, "nothing could be less American than a government that can indefinitely hold people in secret torture cells, take away their protections against horrific and cruel abuse, put them on trial based on evidence that they cannot see, sentence them to death based on testimony literally beaten out of witnesses, and then slam shut the courthouse door for any habeas petition, but that’s exactly what Congress just approved." [2]
