Imagine thousands of invisible aircraft... hundreds of thousands of invisible soldiers... hope no one with a thirst for world domination gets their hands on this.

Well, seeing how we invented the nuclear bomb and everyone else ending up getting it too, I'm sure this technology will end up in the hands of future's madman.

Maybe it'll bring a new age of assasinating people the people in power (beneath the Secret World Government (tm) of course). Let's give it a test on Kim Jong Il and any more . . . uncooperative potential successors.
May the blessing of Our Lady of the Workshop be upon you.

I foresee little development in the area of invisibility as far as you and I go.

The reason being that there is no practical use for it other than acts of espionage, murder, or war in general.
If the armed forces of the world decide they think it is a good idea then they'll develop it, but that will be about it.

In the end you have a device that can be used to stalk and/or kill people as well as cause an endless array of public disturbances, the only reason anybody would want one for a good use is as a mere novelty. I for one am inclined to say the scales are tipped in favour of outlaw in greater society.

If we are able to get an object to become invisible, we will do it. It is like going to the moon, it shows no purpose but we want to be able to say we can do it and have it in our inventory for if we do need it in the future. The same thing happened with nuclear energy. We first started using nuclear energy to produce bombs and then we used it for energy. I am sure humans will invent something that will make invisibility useful.
Dropped the atomic bomb let them know that it's real
Speak soft with a big stick do what I say or be killed

Going to the moon was good for something, it was the world's largest propaganda campaign (hence why people say the USA faked it).
If the communists got to the moon first then that would've been there nice way of saying "ha, look, our methods got things done faster, therefore they're better, communion forever!!". To counter this we decided to get there first and say "For once things in Soviet Russia are just like they are here, us beat YOU!!!".

Nothing is more worth it and being able to show you're better than somebody else.

Invisibility however... nah.
Of course if two nations race too see who can turn invisible first, then of course it will happen. But odds are that won't happen for a while yet.
