Maybe a small fraction of what is left of the US. A group of states that comes together to represent the EU's intrests over here. It is a distinct possibility, though, that if the US breaks, a small portion WILL become EU sympathetic to one degree or another. |

I don't think it really matters if the US is in Europe or not. What matters is if it is in the best interests of the EU and the US. |

Maybe if one good leader comes to power in one of the more powerful countries and unites most of Africa under one government. |

I doubt that will ever happen. With all the wars going on there, who can possible unite all of them? Right now, Africa looks pretty doomed. Hopefully, Africa will turn out o.k. soon. |

Why does everyone think that the US is going to break apart? If so, how many and where are the border lines? |
|

I don't think that. The way it looks right now, I seriously doubt that will happen. But IF it does, the border lines can be anywhere. It matters where they split. |

That is dependant on how the government breaks down. Where the people draw the lines themselves, civilly, like the civil war.
Seriously though a number of things could happen. Bank on the southwest becoming a part of Mexico, or New mexico becoming the southwest, being that it has a large Mexican population, becomes sympathetic with Mexico's intrests in the US southwest. The pacific northwest could have more in common with what is going on in Canada at the time, and could become sort of a province. The north could stay as the US republic of some kind, ie the Union, while the south breaks away finally to become the Confederated States of America. The EU could use this failing to swoop in and garner support in the northeast and back them in becoming a part of the EU known as New England. |

Exactly my point. The US society is almost homogeneous. Everybody hates the South but that is a different story (sorry Mr. Sinister). |

Hey, you didn't make it that way. Everyone has their cross to bear.. *mutters under breath* carpetbagger really though, it is not as well mixed as you may think. Look at what is going on in the southwest. And as you said, the animosity nearly everyone else has towards the south, is enough to make some of the old democrats come out of woodshed down here and seperate us from you godless union money hungry swine...Squeal like a pig, boy!!!

I seriously doubt the break up of the US in the 21st century because American civilization is at its golden age of prosperity. I mean come on, when 6% of the world's population controls 59% of the world's wealth they tend to be pretty powerful. |

Is that world percentage or US percentage. If you are speaking of the world, you need to start looking towards China, to see a large portion of that 6%. They have adopted the kind of no holds barred capitalism that nearly sunk the US around the early part of the 19th Century. It just keeps growing and growing and growing, and they cannot (or will not) make laws to regulate the making and consolodation of wealth in that country. |
