Animal Rights

the question of animal rights doesn't mean eating animals is nessicarily wrong. It's a reciprocal right, animals can eat us too if they want. However, we shouldn't actively subjugate animals as being 'lower' or 'worse' than ourselves. We're all part of the world and we're all interconnected, relying on eachother. Giving animals 'rights' in the legal sense might or might not be a good thing, but it doesn't have to go that far. It is the view of animals being 'without rights' that is damaging.

I'd love to see some answers to my reply. If you want to say 'animals have the right for me to eat them yum' then back it up with some sort of reasoning so I can point out what is wrong with it. :P

Option A: I beat a fish to death with a shovel

Option B: I beat a kitten to death with a shovel

Option C: I beat a child to death with a shovel

Are these options morally equivalent?

Now think of every little kid in jail for killing a knat.

It's the type of problem we have to overcome to not have to worry about things like otherization. Granted, animal rights is utopian in our current mindset, but so is getting rid of Racism, Sexism and Classism. Besides, it's not the idea of 'animal rights', but giving up the idea of anthropocentrism, that we're the only species that can feel, have thoughts, or do anything meaningful.

Technically yes, because destroying a life is destroying a life no matter what life you destroy. A murdere is a murdere no matter what he kills but because of the continued lessons we'v been tought and the continued stereotyping we'v been told. Us humans would think we are dramatically more superior, but in all honsty were not.

They can be tought not to do this, just like there though to do everything else.

I can't even imagine a civilization where those actions would be deemed morally equivalent. My imagination literally fails.

What does 'greatness' derive from?

Well trust me, if those actions would be deemed morally equivalent our world would be a way way better place.

Im not against eating meat at all, in fact i love it. I just dont see the point of killing it in humanely. As i said befor im not against eating meat as long as they were treated and killed humanely.

Also i dont see who would eat a fish or cat beaten to death with a dirtty shovel?

So you're saying I can kill you if I need to eat. I am pretty hungry right now.

that's because beating a fish to death will make it hard to gut, clean and debone, i image... and cats have very little meat on them...
