Of course, given that if that society does not approve of your animal maiming actions, it can do pretty bad things to you.

Well don't go saying I torture animals. That isn't my cup o' tea. I was just sticking up for those who do.

Well Joad, sometimes you have to take action if it isn't your cup of tea. If I said I have no problem murdering people and it isn't ethically wrong would you stick up for my beliefs?

Lets start up a new question. Would you agree or disagree with a law that states all people that are unjustly* cruel to animals will be heavily fined or sent to prison?

*This goes for just about everything that won't help a human, something similar, or common sense.

He doesn't have to necessarily stick up for your belief about murdering people. He can, however, stick up for you belief to freedom of speech. However he decides to weigh and measure the right of your freedom of speech against the validity of your beliefs would be up to him.

I wouldn't stick up for you because killing innocent people is 100% against my ethics. I don't know if I would try to go out and punish you, but I would call you a creep in any chance I got.

I'd love to see some answers to my reply. If you want to say 'animals have the right for me to eat them yum' then back it up with some sort of reasoning so I can point out what is wrong with it. :P

Option A: I beat a fish to death with a shovel

Option B: I beat a kitten to death with a shovel

Option C: I beat a child to death with a shovel

Are these options morally equivalent?

Technically yes, because destroying a life is destroying a life no matter what life you destroy. A murdere is a murdere no matter what he kills but because of the continued lessons we'v been tought and the continued stereotyping we'v been told. Us humans would think we are dramatically more superior, but in all honsty were not.

You destroy life with each breath you take, sabertooth. I assume you'll be slaughtering yourself forthwith to stop being a mass murderer?

The difference is that some murders are intentional (beating a child or kitten with a shovel), some are un-intentional (destroying millions of bacteria), and some are intentional, but unavoidable (eating anything, including plants)
Deep unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.

By the time anything gets to me, it's already been skinned and chopped up into steaks/hot dogs/jello, so I have no reason not to make use of it.

As long as you know it it is intentional. We all kill. If you don't want to kill anymore, kill yourself. Although your rotting body will probably mess with the PH in the soil and kill a worm or something.
