I allways say under the community instead of under God because I am really against God in schools. And as Falcon said, most people don't even care about what the pledge means, but what else can we do to show pride in America?

Allso, back at my old school if you didn't say the pledge right you got in troble, I thought that was wrong because why do you need to be forced to respect someone or something? I don't hate America or anything, but I don't like everything about it, so shouldn't need to pledge to the things I don't really like.

Here are your two alternatives from both extremes of the political spectrum:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the Confederate States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all, white people. Amen."

"I pledge my allegiance to the flag of the community of American, Soviet, and United Nations of the World, and to the principle for which it stands; a nation, indivisible with others of the Earth, joined in peace, and justice for all."
Deep unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.

Lots of guns. And wear them with pride.

How about voting after you've closely investigated the candidates running? Just do that, it's much more helpful than saying some old pledge.

If you mean "investigate" by following their campaign speeches and what the media says about them, then I don't agree. Since when is a politician going to say anything outside of what the people want to hear while on the campaign trail? And, you know how unbiased the media is.

I was thinking about things like checking out their voting record, if they have one. If their opponent has leveled accusations against them then there is a good chance that you can investigate the veracity of those charges. Beyond that, knowing what the politicians say, even if its just campaign spin, would be a big step up for most people.

I agree with you somewhat.......eh, maybe not. I don't think listening to all of the mud slinging and spin on campaign speeches and commercials is the best route for choosing the best candidate for what you want or need. Sooner or later all of the typical campaign trail propaganda kinds of runs together. You kind of have to decifer all of the mud slinging to make sure you don't think it's the wrong candidate being accused of something.

I didn't say it was easy, just that people need to do it.

I should do that and see the reactions on everyone's faces. Or better yet, because we say the pledge during anouncements at my school, and I work on the anouncments, I could just change it at the school. I wonder if I'de get into any toruble....

I say the pledge better than my classmates because I'm proud of my country. They really don't care. But the words don't matter, it is what those words mean that matters.
