It's all about context. If they were doing something akin to hiding Jews from Nazi's, as an extreme example, then no. |

This is a crumy answer, but I really think it depends what type of trust you have with that friend, what they did and why they did it. If my best friend just killed people for no reason, then I wouldn't even think of him as a friend anymore. |

i don't care about my family or friends enough to care whether or not they're in prison, but i'm also extremely lazy and probably wouldn't want to deal with all the time and paper work turning someone in entails (not to mention the potential ostracizing i might have to go through), so probably not... unless there was a substantial reward... |

no friend will ever be on the same level as my family.. so i would probably turn in a friend, but not a family member |

I wouldn't turn anyone in. I'm anti-authoritarian, I'd just beat the one that committed a crime against me down myself. -Dirk |

Good point, why send them to prison when you can solve it yourself? |

Hellz yeah. And I say that coming from a family of law-breaking boozers and parents taking drugs and stealing things. |

Non consentual rape, statuatory rape, vehicular manslaughter, smoking pot, driving while intoxicated, soliciting minors, armed robbery, public indecency, first degree murder, second degree muder, bribary, owning a gun without a license, animal cruelty; I could go on all day without even getting into fun war crimes like genocide. The point is that 'eye for an eye' only really works very well with things like simple assault and battery. |
