Heres an idea: We teach creationism, but it's Islamic creationism. (because ancient hellenistic creationism just isn't good enough for these bastards) Seriously, they don't want creationism taught; they want CHRISTIAN Creationism taught.
Deep unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.

It's becomming similar for Christians. We now have a group trying to remove saying "God" in the pledge, and trying to get "In God We Trust" taken off of the back of money. Not even to mention the war for saying "Christmas" around the Holidays. I don't think America is maintaining it's Christianity, more like not wanting it to be spoken of in public.

From The Pledge of Allegiance: A Short History
Quote:

In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words, 'under God,' to the Pledge. The Pledge was now both a patriotic oath and a public prayer.

I think you mean "trying to restore the Pledge back to its earlier, non-religious roots".

There shouldn't even be a pledge at all. Abolish the pledge.

I agree, I don't see the point of it except to produce blind patriotism, or nationalism.
