I can only think of one thing, elephants. Elephants are bigger then the moon, and this would not be the first time i saw someone lose on the first couple questions on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

I think when someone misses one of the first few questions, there should be an elimination button. Not only do you get eliminated from the game, but in real life also. No wonder people around the world think U.S. citizens are dumber than a rock......."Elephants are bigger than the moon"? Christ, that's just pitiful.

That's not restricted to the U.S. We also got the show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' here, (here it's known as 'Weekend Miljonairs') and one of 'em didn't get past the PL€250,- question. Sometimes they put easy questions in places reserved for hard ones, and one of the players was actually doubting at the question 'What is the third planet of the solar system counting from the sun' when he could choose from

  1. Mercury
  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Jupiter
Obviously, it was C.

Same thing for stock brokers and people who do actual work... the stock brokers get paid more and don't have to know a lot as they usually parrot advice from analysts, while those who do actual work need additional knowledge to successfully apply for the job. Yet, the stock broker can literally swim in the money he earns, whilst the blue-collar worker is with some luck and a hell of a lot of overtime work upper working class.

How did the citizens of the richest and most powerfuk country in the world manage to be like this?

They don't need to know that information. As long as they go to work and go through the motions, they can make a living. We are trained not to think outside the box or look past the propaganda.

You are telling me, but what it must be like to know you are not only stupid, but a lot of people who go on the internet or watch tv know you are an idiot. Ignorance is bliss till its shattered on public television.

You don't need heavily-edited videos to explain why the world believes Americans are stupid.  You only need one, inescapable fact:  The citizens of the United States of America voted George W. "Shrub" Bush into power not once, but twice.  Further, the second time he got more votes both in numbers and by proportion.

If that doesn't define stupidity, nothing will and we are doomed to Mike Judge's bleak vision in Idiocracy in our own lifetimes.

Nice try! You wish it were that simple. Does it make it easier for you to sleep thinking the people of this country actually elected that asshole? Your ignorance shines, guess that little trait isn't limited to the US. Whattayaknow?!? Here's a tip: You can't call members of a certain (any) country ignorant or stupid when it becomes apparent that they don't exactly know events or leaders outside of their country, when YOU (in particular) have no clue what the circumstances surrounding the last two presidential elections in the US were. Yet, you choose to opine. Hmmm, the people in this video were caught off guard and edited with bias, what's your excuse?

Which five votes count more than 52% percent of US citizens?

Thomas
Kennedy
O'Connor
Scalia
and Rhenquist

The majority of Americans voted for Gore, these five voted for Bush...look who won. Who needs the military when you can stage a Judicial coup? It's much more fun, especially when the State in question is RUN BY YOUR BROTHER. So that's one election you've incorrectly scored.

Concerns were raised, following the 2004 election, on various aspects of the voting process: whether voting had been made accessible to everyone entitled to vote, whether the votes cast had been correctly counted, and whether these irregularities decisively affected the reported outcome of the election.

Among the issues raised were allegations or complaints regarding obstacles to voter registration, improper purges of voter lists, voter suppression, accuracy and reliability of voting machines (especially electronic voting), problems with absentee and provisional ballots, areas with more votes than signatures of voters in election poll books, areas with more votes than registered voters, and possible partisan interference by voting machine companies and election officials. Although a recount was conducted in Ohio, many of the alleged improprieties (such as long lines or tampering) could not be addressed in a recount.

Since reports of irregularities surrounding the 2004 Presidential vote first started to surface, there has been an ongoing complaint by progressive and liberal figures and media watchdog groups that the "mainstream" media has not given enough coverage to the issue, or has in fact intentionally minimized coverage and public awareness. Although numerous publications have covered the voting process leading up to, during and following the election, the allegation of a "media lockdown" has persisted and grown as the majority of the coverage and insight into the election irregularities has taken place in alternative media outlets (independent/local media, internet media, etc.). In light of numerous troublesome occurrences, most notably the exit polls withheld from public scrutiny by various media corporations who own the data, allegations of corporate or government manipulation and suppression of the media continue.

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), in an open letter to supporters, alluded to such a media lockdown:

For this challenge to Ohio's electors to have occurred, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the internet activists, who spread the story of my efforts and supported me in every way possible. I am also thankful to the alternative media, including talk radio and blogs that gave substantial attention and investigation to these matters when all but a handful in the mainstream media refused to examine the facts.

– John Conyers

People are stupid, period. Americans are just the top dog, therefore garnering all the wrong attention. I'm not saying US citizens (or North Americans as a whole) aren't sufficiently stupid, but no more stupid or ignorant than your average Canadian, Chinese, German, British, French, or Russian Citizen.

Definition of Stupidity: Stupidity is the quality or condition of being stupid, or lacking intelligence , as opposed to being merely ignorant or uneducated. This quality can be attributed to both an individual (e.g. Penny Person is stupid) or a person's actions, words or beliefs (e.g., Penny Person's policies are stupid). The term can thus also refer to poor use of judgement, or insensitivity to nuances in a person who is otherwise intelligent . The determination of who is stupid is relatively difficult, despite attempts to measure intelligence (and thus stupidity) such as IQ tests. The adjective is also used as a general pejorative (e.g. I didn't borrow your stupid cap - go look for it yourself).

Otherwise intelligent individuals may also become stupid when their rational thought is derailed by strong opinions or rigid beliefs . In this case the victim falls into confirmation bias and begins selecting data: becoming intentionally blind and deaf to contrary evidence, while at the same time collecting evidence which supports the beliefs. Rather than being based on low intelligence or missing knowledge, this is the stupidity of closed-mindedness and willful ignorance.

If we here are guilty, then so are you. I find these people's stupidity as lacking intelligence. I find your's closed-minded. Which is worse? Neither is excuseable.

I've seen plenty of films that show Brits stumbling about in a daze, then when stopped and asked about all the cameras in London, they look around and say, "Oh, I've never noticed them before!". Bloody brilliant, as well as pathetic.

One women even replied to the question, "Would you give up your freedom for security?" by saying, "We should give up our Freedom for Liberty." Talk about moronic! But, it didn't happen here.

No one is really interested in the quality of life in Canada, so not too many comedians go up there to see, sorry Canada. Comedians actually come down here to work.

China, well, only the state can determine what can and can't be filmed, shown, printed, or spoken (in alliance with Google). Pretty ignorant and stupid. Funny how "stupid" Americans from Google, with-hold a vast amount of knowledge from the Chinese, for profit...

Do I think this pertains to the vast majority of these countrymen? Hell, no. It pertains to the vast majority of people in general. This video doesn't prove a goddamned thing, except the guy really knows how to put out a hit piece, big deal.

I've got "Idiocracy" on my netflix list and can't wait to see it. Actually, this film's distribution (or lack thereof, in the US) can go a long way to proving how the media (as well as Hollywood or the MPAA) constrict and distort information, while burying documetaries, films and newstories that are bad for their business. There was so much Anna Nicole Smith hub-bub that when I asked a retired Army vet about Walter-Reed, he had not a clue about it. Is that because he is stupid, or because the information that he gets is constricted and distorted in order to shift focus away from the Media Corporations buddies in the Federal Government?

Synergy, It's a huge problem, no?

everything he said

That was a good point, although i enjoy having a good laugh at stupid Americans (or other countries, if i ever see them on tv/internet) its not because there are no stupid people in Canada. Its just that i deal with the stupid people around me all the time, so its less funny and more.... annoying.

I dont know if its so much stupidity as it is ignorance and not caring. There are so many people that dont care about global events it disgusts me. Not only that, but people just dont care anymore. Math, science, world issues, politics, your rights, who cares, right?

I think that can define stupid as well. Ignorance and stupidity arent too far off from each other. Ignorant people ignore the facts while stupid people dont care/dont understand.

No, there's a difference. An ignorant person can learn. A stupid one can't.
