Don't confuse ignorance with close-mindedness. I was called close-minded my whole life about some issues because I was raised in suburban area when really I was ignorant.
Dropped the atomic bomb let them know that it's real
Speak soft with a big stick do what I say or be killed
I'm America!

I have found the enemy and he is us.

"Any fool can say their american, logged in anonymous. I got a feeling
half of these posts, saying they are americans, are not americans at
all. Say what you want, but most of the world, wants our stuff and
wants to live like americans, "ENVY" is such an ugly thing"

that pretty much sums it up aswell,

living in europe or japan or any other MEDC is just as nice as living in america and in quite alot of cases, its nicer.

when i was talking to an American i mentioned britain and his argument to tell me how insignificant Britain is he told me "i don't even know where you're crappy little island is!"

again, he summed up my entire argument.

Ignorant- somebody who doesn't know any better, but as Neo said, can learn.

Stupid- somebody that maybe knows better, but refuses to show it.

How did the citizens of the richest and most powerfuk country in the world manage to be like this?

Why does this have anything to do with it? Why are only Americans expected to know who the Prime Minister Of Burundi is, then laughed at when they don't know?
It is not totally their faults.

Just because our government is hell bent on world domination/destruction doesn't mean we as citizens are. In fact it's just the opposite. The richest most powerful government (not country or nation that implies the people are rich too...if you believe that everyone in the US is well off or well adjusted, or even that the majority of US citizens are rich or well off, you've been lied to. You've been lied to horribly) in the world is using it's insanely close ties with media corporations to engage in an Infowar with it's own citizens ( to try and cover up the fact that they are hell bent on world domination/destruction). That's right, propaganda. It is the current state of all news channels (not just Faux). The only real news is the independent/free press or internet (usually one in the same). So please, don't waste your time wondering any longer why Americans are stupid , because they are not. They are merely victims of systemic brainwashing...it should be apparent in videos like this one. No one is that stupid, they've purposely been fed misinformation to keep them believing that America is God. Mix that with fear and now you've got apathy. Apathy because they believe there is nothing they can do, but the US government is doing everything in your best interests, so don't worry or even think about it. Gold mine.

The BBC is no better. They lose the tapes (all recorded information) pertaining to 9/11, no one makes a peep.

The JFK Center loses the Moon Landing recordings for about 2 weeks and the world press has a field day. At least they found the Moon landing tapes...the BBC will never ever find those 9/11 tapes. And what an atrocious explantion for losing the 21st century's most defining moment.

This video is plainly a hit piece. I guarantee for every asshole that said a triangle has 4 sides, there were 10 people who called it at 3. But you won't see those on the tv. It's just not as funny (for whatever reason).

No, there's a difference. An ignorant person can learn. A stupid one can't.

If the ignorance is wilful (fundie Christians vs. evolution, for example), it cannot be educated away.

It is not totally their faults.

We had a segment in a crappy little television show called "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" in which a "newsman" from the show would go south of the border and ask obvious questions or state obvious falsehoods about your closest neighbours and biggest trading partners. American lawmakers -- not random people selected off the street but people who set fucking government policy! -- would do things like congratulate Canada on building its "National Igloo" or on making its first paper currency or congratulating the new Canadian Prime Minister: Moose Jaw or the like.

What excuse do you have for lawmakers' ignorance on that profound a level?

Fucking lawmakers! Not street rabble selected at random and heavily edited!

I believe you are reffering to Rick Mercer and his segment of "Talking to Americans". And yes he talked to the Governer of Arknasas about how Canadians were trying to stop the melting of their Igloos...

Yes, it was Rick Mercer as a point of fact. And his "Talking to Americans" went waaaaaaaay beyond the igloo gag.... That was the first stirrings of fear I had about our neighbours. They weren't just a 900 pound gorilla. They were a retarded 900 pound gorilla.

Talking to Americans was both hilarious... and insanely scary. I can handle bad memory, or a lack of knowledge beyond your borders... but a national igloo....

What can I say? Our politicians are about as dumb as they come, and I'm not meaning this as a joke. I think the only thing you need to remember is that even though the people who represent America politically are as dumb as bricks, it doesn't reflect on the entire general population, some, but not all. I don't care which nation you speak of, there's always a percentage of stupidity. To think any other country on Earth is immune is, well.......pretty dumb in it's self. Not meaning that as being disrespectful towards you or anyone else who reads this, but it's just cold hard painful truth.

In theory I agree. In reality, though, there would be a huge rise in injury lawsuits....I mean think about it, how many dumbasses would luckily be killed while smoking putting gas in their cars? Insurance rates would almost triple over a five year period. Warning labels were put into place to protect intelligent people from drooling inbreeds. Perfect example was the lawsuit against McDonalds when that old woman spilled hot coffee down her crotch. Did it really take a warning label for her to know not to put a hot cup of coffee between her legs while driving?
