The Giver had one of the worse endings ever and that's why I don't like it. Other books I was forced to read and didn't like include "The Westing Game" and "A Wrinkle in Time."

Reading is wonderful. I don't like being forced to read, unless it is a good book.

:huh:

I actually liked Night, and The Giver was ok, but could have had a better ending. Right now they have me reading Shogun, which would be better if it wasn't so long. I just hate it when they force you into reading something specific. It's better when they give you a list to choose from. Even if all the choices suck, it's your fault if you get the book that doesn't have violence.

I liked Night as well.

The problem with that exile is that sometimes the book has something to do with the topic at hand. In that case their needs to be a specific book, other than for that reason, I see no reason that we should force a specific book on a student.

My dear fucking god. The teacher assigned an essay on The Killer Angels. He gave us the topic sentence. So we basically had to write what he gave us which was something to the effect of "I liked (WTF) Killer Angels because it was interesting (or unexpected) and because it taught me new things about the Civil War."

I promptly polled the class, and not one of them liked the book.

I proceeded to kick some teacher ass.

I'd rather take a picture book. I would mock all aspects of the Killer Angels with art.

I just finished reading Killer Angels at 4:58 EST today. I am hoping I will never have to read one page of that cursed book again.

I finished last week. The only part remotely okay was when *SPOILERS? (Maybe, but it's history. We know what happened, damn it)*

Armistead died and thought Hancock did as well.

</spoiler>

Still sucked, though.

I always had in the back of my mind while reading this load of crap that Chamberlain's brother and Fremantle was going to die. When they didn't, I found that surprising.

Holy crap, so you weren't able to say you didn't like the book? I ldon't mind being forced to read books even if they are bad because I can still devolpe an opinion about them.

Be glad you didn't have to study Canadian literature.

The Stone Angel. 'Nuff said.
