Especially in a thread of orbital dropping.

Might need some powerful cushioning at the bottom though.

I think I'd worry about burning up before the actual landing.

Heat-seeking missiles anyone ? The more we discuss the more hopeless it looks. :ph43r:

Dropping Marines from orbit? Wasn't that in Quakes 2 and 4?

Normandy took more balls than Vietnam, it took more balls than Korea, it took more balls than facing mustard gas on a battlefield full of giant ditches with nowhere to run. It took more balls than the world will ever be able to ante up again.

LC made it, and it is awesome.

You do notice how much money it costs to repair the damages of a zombie outbreak? no!

It was unsuccessful in Quake 2 (when they originally did it), bar one guy who just happened to be the muscle-bound bullet-absorbing one man Marine force, and took out all the planetary defences and the alien leader. So, as long as they include a man like that in the assault, it's sorted.

Yeah, but in Quake 2 and 4 they are literally dropped from orbit in pods, rather than ferried down in a nice little transporter ship.

Did you play halo? Haha, the result in halo is exactly the same as quake 2.
aka drop pods from space are suicide... unless you cant be killed by any less then 10 bullets before finding a first aid kit.

I've played the first Halo, yeah...and I remember now, there are pods, but they contain more than one man. That's how the Master Chief (God that's an awful title) gets down to the Halo at the start of the game. Everyone else dies, of course. Heh.

The thing is, drop pods like wh40K Dawn of War are total horsecrap since the actual contact to the ground will probably crush all internal organs and bones. No adamantine armor or genetic enhancing can cure that.

unless by genetic enhancing you mean an incredible layer of fat on your ass to cushion the fall... but i would imagine it would make someone quite a useless soldier, and difficult to get in the pod.

Now THAT I would love to see. The Fat Arse Space Marine Corps (FASMC). I suppose they would have to back up to their enemies and fire over their shoulders...
