You dont have to read through them all but i spent all morning finding and reading them.
Using cars as an example isnt very good, yes cars do give out bad fumes and cause global warming but we use cars to help people and get around much easier. However smoking is just a HABIT. And nothing would be different if they were not here today.
Maybe talking about the runner without any proof wasnt a very good idea but i remember my teacher telling us about this guy! But i remember her telling us it was due to passive smoking!

Just as a matter of interest- Are the people who are against the smoke ban smokers themselves????

I don't have time right at the moment to read all of the links you provided. But, thanks for providing them. Looking at the links I have read, they seem like mostly anti-smoking sites..........of course they will claim how bad it is for you.

It doesn't matter who smokes or not on this site, it's the fact that nobody has the right to deny them of it.

One of the reasons i dont like smoking is because i am asthmatic and when i walk past somebody smoking i start to cough a lot. So smoking puts other vulnerable people at risk too.

I'm asthmatic and bronchial, second hand smoke is annoying and has the potential to be harmful. Regardless, I have no urge to take control over any aspects of other individuals. If I can survive in the South, with minimal encounters with smokers (virtually none), then I can only assume that those places with more strict smoking bans (California, New York, anywhere in the Northern States) are going to be just fine. There is no reason on God's green Earth you should feel compelled to prevent something that a certain population finds enjoyable.

Hell, that is near impossible in NC to not see anyone smoking. But they have a right to enjoy it.

Don't get me wrong, I see people smoking all the time. They smoke outside (where I've got larger issues to worry about than a poof of smoke) They smoke inside little smoking room areas that are cordoned off (places I don't linger for more than a few seconds) They smoke in Restaurant Smoking sections (which grow smaller and less frequent by the day) Also a place I don't linger for very long. I don't frequent bars ( as a recovering alcoholic there something about those places I find dangerous, the least of which being that it's packed with smokers)

If I happen to be in a place that allows smoking, and I have pressing business, social obligation, or "It's a party!" Then I relax and I realize I only have to bear it for a short time period, then I don't have to worry about it again until the next time I encounter it. But those encounters are so few and far between, it's not worth trying to get everyone to stop.

Thats all i could ask for, and if someone works at a bar they should know that people will smoke, I say make them sign a wavier about the second hand smoke. I dont think we should take away anyones right to smoke... but to provide different areas and discourage kids from trying it.

Does pet dander also trigger your asthma and allergies? If so, then doesn't someone walking their dog also put you in danger? Should we now outlaw someone leaving their house with their dog because of the risks involved to other people?

That is outside though. Smoking should not be banned outside just as walking your dog outside should not be banned. The question is should we allow smoking in an enclosed space.

If you are forced to be there then we should outlaw it because of health reasons.

If you are not forced to be there then I think it should be up to the owner (family restrauant should be banned because of children) but if he allows it he should be willing to pay the price of lost customers if it becomes a problem. We shouldn't force bars to ban smoking but maybe give tax breaks for installing better ventilation systems?

pets can, but it has never happened outdoors. Like pierce said outside is ok, smoke does not bother my asthma outside anymore then pets do. Indoors walking into a smoke filled room is worse then rubbing my face against a cat.
