Sacrifices are idiotic. Let the world burn in a hellish fire. HELLISH I SAY. Except the Ravens. But I wont sacrifice myself for Ravens. - Taslan |

"Who was the most beautiful Seraph in Heaven?" And I reply, "Seraph Michael?" "No." And I reply, "Seraph Samael?" "No." And I reply in finality; "Then surely, Seraph Seraphiel." "No. The most beautiful Angel in Heaven was, Seraph Lucifer And as He fell, His feathers departed Thusly, were the Souls of man and woman Tis the reason why He wishes so desperately for His Lost Feathers... His Wings... To fly Back Home." -God to Taslan | |

Is there a point sacrificing yourself for anything at all? If you're dead, you can't see the result of your action. And well, as selfish as it sounds, isn't this what it comes down to? Everything you do, you do it first of all for yourself. |

Not necessarily. Sacrificing yourself to save a loved one is doing it to protect them, not glorifying yourself. |

I would do it because, one, I am not scared of death. Two, because I don't think my life is worth anymore than anyone elses so I would do it just because I would rather have them live another day than me. It's about caring about someone else. This is also easy to say when you are not in that position. |

I'm not so much scared of death as I am of living an unfulfilled life. |

I am not as worried about living an unfullfilled life because I know I will always regret something and always wish I did more. Would you consider sacrificing your life for the greater good fullfillment? |

Here's a question. Would you kill your entire family to save the world? |

Anytime I hear anybody talking about the "greater good" that song by The Who runs through my head. "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss." |

Yes
The greater good can mean different things and doesn't have to mean revolution. For example, would you die in a fight to end slavery? Or, would you die to take out a worse than average ruler? And, there are revolutions that produce better governments. French revolution for example. While that quote is true for many revolutions, it doesn't have to mean that it is true for all of them. Or you have to look for the hundred or so years where it has gotten better before it turns to shit again. |

And the kind of person who talks about "the greater good" will still manage to Smurf! everything up for everyone.
No.
No.
Read up a little on the aftermath of that revolution. It was FAAAAAR worse for quite a long time after that little bloodbath.
I can think, off-hand, of one revolution in history that actually improved things right away. (American.) Mostly revolutions tend to have a period of intense blood-bathing followed by a period of mediocrity followed by a period of returning to its roots. |
