The universe exists for reasons we will never understand.

or it just exists, plain and simple...

you're assuming the universe came into being at some point, and for some reason... i'm speculating that it has always been here, and for no particular reason whatsoever..

ok. ok. I get what your saying. If I say something like, "why is the sun in the sky?" According to your theory your response would be "It just is."
A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. You think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fucking cross? It's like going up to Jackie Onassis wearing a rifle pendant.

essentially... that's my general answer to unanswerable questions, since there's no evidence to suggest otherwise...

Which brings me to the possibility that we may never know what lies beyond our little "box". maybe because knowing will make our brains explode or something. we will never be able to comprehend or are not worthy to know what's out there. The belief that we will never know that god exists, which I believe is what agnosticism is all about.

Indeed. While it would appear that God in the traditional Christian sense does not exist, some things just make too much...sense. Er...yes. I mean, they aren't randomised to the degree that they should be, or they're rather unlikely. Then again, unlikely things happen, don't they?

In any case, I'm not a Christian and refute the notion that existence is a 'test' to get us into 'Heaven'. Surely God knows our destiny and created us all, in which case why does He bother creating those bound for Hell (given that He is also meant to love us all)? Or does He not know how we'll turn out? Explain please, God-botherers.

Because it makes God appear to have ultimate power, therefore commanding repect, whilst also giving people an incentive to live well.

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves that you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. Q.E.D."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic."

So basically God is out to mislead and manipulate us for a power trip?

This notion could also be used for brainwashing and control over people. GOD said do this or you'll parish into a Lake of Fire......GOD doesn't like these people, so neither should you or risk damnation......GOD has commanded us to do these deeds, and we cannot refuse.......GOD said to give this amount to the church.......All of the before statements can turn followers of faith into fanatics.

That's where I think the notion of the 'test' comes from too, but I was interested in hearing from Christians as to why God, who supposedly creates us and knows our destinies, would apparently create people destined for Hell, since He is supposed to love us.

Rhas: Damn straight!

Ever thought that god only created the first people? Maybe he created us and left so we could have free will over our own life. He made us start and we decide where to go from there.

thats another popular theory. I don't believe it, but it's popular.
