Yeah, don't get me started on the World Bank.

You're right. Mostly, I feel Bush is just a finger puppet for the machinations that were in swing long before his presidency. If you look back to the Contra affair...it was all the same people. These people just took this "likeable" hick, dressed him up like a cowboy and called him a Washington outsider. How on Earth a Harvard and Yale educated son of a former President could EVER pass for an outsider is still something that makes me dizzy. Karl Rove's comment...."Now, there is a man I can MAKE president." Notice the quote does in no way inflect that GWB SHOULD be president? Here is someone the people will trust, someone the evangelical right will latch onto, someone that can absorb the brunt of the actions we are fixing to take.

My favourite thing about Bush is that many people think he's from Texas, when in fact he just has a house (sorry, 'ranch') there.

Normandy took more balls than Vietnam, it took more balls than Korea, it took more balls than facing mustard gas on a battlefield full of giant ditches with nowhere to run. It took more balls than the world will ever be able to ante up again.

No the scariest thing I found in the article was this:

Quote:

And here is where the circle closes: most Americans do not realise that since September of last year - when Congress wrongly, foolishly, passed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 - the president has the power to call any US citizen an "enemy combatant". He has the power to define what "enemy combatant" means. The president can also delegate to anyone he chooses in the executive branch the right to define "enemy combatant" any way he or she wants and then seize Americans accordingly.

This is the main reason I am against any North America Union... At least I am a little safe up here in Canada. It just looks like it has all been set up slowly for years and years, and all their hard work has come to bear fruit. Whats the next step? Only thing I can think of right now would be the right to draft anyone, at any time. Everyone should know there constitutional rights but its so hard to read it will the government crapping on it so much.

No matter what, it will certainly happen here in the Netherlands - we're on the verge of step 9.

I don't think the steps are going in order of the article, but I can see that 8 of the steps are done and the other 2 will be completed in a relatively short amount of time here in the States......probably before November 2008......

eventually people in my country are not going to be able to sneeze without a camera seeing or hearing it, its redivulous, i am caught on camera about 20 times a day and i live in a rural countryside area!

1 camera for every 14 people
I.D cards with retina and fingerprints on
DNA, fingerprints and mugshot on file
security cameras that recognise your face and log your location into a kind of diary that can be looked at by the government
you can be held without charge or any evidence for longer and longer.
the police prencense that is getting more and more prevalent each day.
free speech is being supressed to point where i could be arrested for preaching communism.

and a hell of alot more i happening.

That's still liberal when compared to my country:

  • 1 camera per 10 people
  • I.D. cards with retina, dingerprints, picture, full name, etc. etc. (even racial profile!)
  • DNA, fingerprints, mugshot (and everything from the ID card) on file)
  • You can be held without charge, cops can pursue (and arrest) you if they feel like it.
  • LOTS of police (really, I see at the very least 10 police cars just when taking the bus to school)
  • No free speech whatsoever
  • I'm probably wanted by now just because of my views. (but the popo here is just too damn stupid to know where I live)
  • EDIT: Downloading music is equal to handling here.

I live in Oklahoma, United States.

Families here are obligated to stay with their elders and take care of them until they are DEAD. Failure to do so actually ostracizes you from society, and even getting many jobs here, government laws be damned.

I ALREADY have zero free speech without the Church coming down on you like the Rock of Jesus Christ himself. (Who, by the way, plays a MEAN guitar riff.) If you even hint that you play D&D, suddenly you're classified by the police department as a potential risk.

People have been arrested here for living next DOOR to drug dealers, regardless of whether they knew them or not...while the actual dealer is at home playing the 360.

These rules may change a lot of things in other states...but Oklahoma was ALREADY a fascist state. They just hid it behind religion.

Only other state that gets my vote as worse for fascism: UTAH. *Shudder*

Our friends, the Mormons.....we have a vanload of them that lurk around my neighborhood in the Summer. I swear, they look cloned. You have their "leader" and the rest of the cronies look just like carbon copies of them. I think they have a secret pact with Zerox to build and maintain their "creepier than thou" holy roller replicating machine.

I guess Ohio isn't really that bad, except Governor Taft's excessive raping and dancing on state laws. People are pretty liberal in my area, but the more north you go into Amish country, the more conservative politics become.
