(oh balls i put a 1 at the end of the exclamation marks!) i have a friend who is muslim and incredibly anti-semetic because he beleives that israel has no claim to land it now controls, so to see what he would do i ordered a israeli flag off the internet and wrapped it up and gave it to him as a gift. he set it on fire and threw it on the floor. this got me thinking. . . . . . do people think it is o.k yo burn the flags of countries you do not like and are protesting against? i always see pictures of people burning American, British and Israeli flags and i think that its a good and very visual way of showing distane for my country and America although i don't like when they do it as its doubley offensive to me because i am half israeli and half british. anyway, what do you guys think? |

What's fair is fair. Do I like seeing it? No. Should we act on groups in another country burning our flag? No. It is a very descriptive means to show hatred towards another country in one of the most dramatic ways possible. It is legit, though. |

I despise Israel's actions, but I see flag burning as an insult. And childish. A Kurdish kid set a Turkish Flag on fire(later he said a man gave it to him, which was caught and confessed he was from PKK), and the whole country went in a blood frenzy and protest. Meanwhile, gas prices were increased but people didn't notice it. :ph43r: Btw, those who protest this find no problem in burning Israelite flags. |

A particularly silly and inflammatory form of protest, but in the end it's not killing anyone. (Indirectly maybe, but it's unlikely and the links would be tenuous at best.) |

I have no problem with it. I think it is used more often to gain attention to a protest, which is a legitimate reason to burn it. |

i could not agree more with that statement, however i do beleive that the land they control is rightfully theirs because it was jewish land for thousands of years and it was only relativly recently it became muslim before the state of israel was created. its only a tiny little spot of land and its the only jewish state in the world, give em a break. if done properly flag burning can be incredibly effective and powerful, it can stir up a crowd and give them the courage to revolt as well as stick a finger upto some PM or president who is thousands of miles away. look at how offended some of the people were from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb4SF1IGIgY...related&search= very powerful form of protest. BTW that guy is clearly a tard who can't even burn a flag properly. |

Burning a flag is simply an expression of extreme hatred. As long as you actually own the flag you're burning you aren't committing any crime. Saying to someone you hate him is no crime, neither should flag burning be considered one. |

Well, flag burning is legal. It's a respectful way of getting rid of a soiled flag. In the military they do it all the time, if the flag touches the ground its burned in a cermony, in order to respect the country. So...burning the flag to protest kinda sounds stupid to me. If anything it'd be more of a protest if you pissed on a flag or took a dump on a flag. Even burying a flag would be more disrespectful (that is if it isn't with a coffin). Burning is the proper way to dispose of a flag... |

that's typical western, pro judo-christian thinking... were the isrealites there first? hell yes, but that doesn't mean they still have a claim to it... by that logic, we better pack up and get the f*ck out of north america 'cause the natives were there first... |
