I'm guessing it was the lack of comparison with other planets and brown dwarfs, given that the rationale was that Jupiter was putting out more energy than the sun put in it. |

White dwarfs emit energy as well, and they're inactive. And the inside of Neptune is dense enough to set off some nuclear fusion in it as well, would that make it a planet becoming a star? Not really, since it's only 13 times as massive as Earth. -Dirk |
