Point taken....yeah i guess it was a bad arguement, I am just tossing ideas around, you all know more about science and genetics than I do. Oh well.

What a horrible typo...

I better change that, and the reason for me being gone for a week is that I changed computers for a while and forgot about this...

Trust me, I know what a mess that can be.

Wanna clarify something I saw in a locked thread. TIME IS NOT A CONSTANT. IT CANNOT BE CALCULATED.

that would undermine a shitload of hypotheses, formulae and equations in physics.

But it doesn't actually 'flow' as we perceive it to, does it? It just is. It's just THERE. It is constant, if not A constant. Oh, do I look like a world-beating scientician to you? Answer: no. Most definitely no.

Time travel is still baloney.

We assume time is constant in physics because the speeds needed to influence time are so large we can ignore it.

Kat is right, time is not a constant. Its just that the speeds needed to notice a difference in the rate of time is so large we never experience it.

Read this book if you want to know more about it.

Exactly, time isn't a constant. Think of it like this Bohemian, can you define time?

Time paradox don't work.

what the plural for paradox? Paradoxes? Lol may I park my boat on your...paradock? HAHAHAH! silly...anyway

Lets say you go back in time to um...stop a person from inventing the time machine..that wouldn't work because by the time the time machine was invented you would have destroyed it thus you couldn't go back in time to destroy said time machine....

stoping somthing in time travel is like telling yourself not to do somthing when you don't have any intentions of doing it or have thought about doing whatever thing said.

Time travel itself is...infact not fine in anyway possible..for example.
You want to go back in time to see jesus. You zip back in time jesus is out doing his cyropractory (jesus was a cyropractor baptised by a rather fat rabi with a fur tunic on in a river..he smelled like onions) and you go and say "well hey there mr jesus how are ya doing?" jesus having had this conversation with you is unable to do somthing amazing and thus christianity is never made and people instead worship that beatle that rolls the poo because it happened to oh I dunno....it was a good season and during a full moon they all started popping out of the poop like "zombies" and the next day a person woke up alive after having a heart attack..and suddenly everyone is now following "Fecesism"

Another example (yes I am having fun)
You think to yourself "wouldn't it be marvelous save the dodo bird from extinction?"so you go back in time and save the dodo's..but you go forward in time and bam..all but canada is ruled by the spanish. Appearently without the nourisment of the dodo's and the mysterios "island exploding fire demon of dodo soverienty" europe was too focused on this mystery to focus on this and spain conquared all of north america with stolen technology and secrets from a gun you left behind.

somthing like that.

Exactly, time isn't a constant.

Michael Crichton, you have lied to me again! I want my tickets to that Costa Rican island refunded, too.

I stand very much corrected. However, as has been said, we will never physically be able to move sufficiently fast to alter the perceived speed of time. Isn't that right? Oh, I don't know. This isn't my area of expertise. At all.

I haven't heard anything that says that isn't impossible, very unlikely, but not impossible.

no wait, if time cannot be calculated, all those mathematical equations are useless then?

No you misunderstood what I meant. Time itself cannot be calculated. There is no formula for time nor is there a set definition or real idea. It's abstract, we perceive it, but it doesn't really exist. That being said, yes, time is used for many equations.

so what is it that we're "really" trying to calculate through the equations then?
