according to katastrof, time doesn't exist, so what we're talking about is meaningless. well it's just a measurement like length, so basically a meter is not the same as a kilometer, so actually, it does exist, just that it's a unit of measurement that can be calculated and measured, not a physical "thing". |

I said "err..no" because an hour is defiantly not the same as a month. |

... maybe I could make it more simple for them... Time is X 60X = one min 3600X = one hour Now then knowing that X is time and using the following can you tell me what time is... no, because time is just that... X We made it to measure, because its a lot better then saying "I will be back in 54000 average human breaths" or some shit |

oh fuck this thread makes me want to go to college if time travel is possible this is what i think if you went back into the past and killed your dad nothing would happen to you and if you go forwards in time it would just be a huge butterfly effect if you got into your delorean and go five minutes into the past and kill yourself before you travel through time--that's it, a copy of you would just be dead but with minor alterations in life (provided you hide your corpse) or rather, you would be the copy. anyways what im trying to say is time paradoxes dont leave behind any consequences except a simple butterfly effect that does not affect YOUR course through time.

What if someone else went through time and stopped you from going through time? |

Eh, if we went back in time it would probably be like Deja Vu (the movie) without the happy ending. |

huh... let me think about that.... two answers I can give you: 1. nothing will happen to you "directly", you'd just create a butterfly effect and change events, like you being killed before you travel through time. through your course through time you'd have to travel since it is the reason that the event happens... and then once you've travelled, that's it, it's the "direct" version of you. then there's your copy who gets killed because of whatever actions you made in the past caused a chain reaction for that to occur. let me give an example... John built a time machine and went back five minutes in the past. Unfortunatly, he encountered a mugger who tries to kill him. John 2 runs until he eventually loses the mugger and the mugger finds the other John 1 about to go back in time when the mugger shoots the original John 1 in the face. John 2 is unaffected because since he went back in time, John 2 can't be killed directly [or stopped from going back] if only a copy of him before he went back was killed. Now if anyone's still confused (I'm not sure if I'm really using the right words) being killed directly would be if the mugger actually killed John 2 by stabbing him or something. 2. you'd fade out, back to the future style. except that really doesn't make much sense. |

Now what if the only way for you to have traveled through time was due to a direct result of you traveling back in time. The "I only did it because the me of the future told me to in the past" story |

sorry for replying so late, I don't have enough plutonium to go back eleven days. it couldn't happen unless there was a reason you went back in time. "I want to eat that fish that went bad two days ago". then you decide to tell yourself to go back in time in two days. then I'm not quite sure what would happen after that but it will probably be really fucking confusing if I tried to explain it. |
