I don't exactly know if ebola proves that the medical community is utterly unprepared for a pandemic. All three affected countries have very low HDIs and are known for corruption and aggregious misallocation of resources. SARS is one example where the medical community did a fairly good job at containing its spread, and now it's effectively dead and only kept in laboratories. |
