Jan walks in through the front door of the house he now calls home with his new family of Sasha Foote and her daughter Brit, carrying a bouquet of red roses and a single red rose in a small vase. He takes a large vase from the cupboard, puts water in each vase, and leaves them on the counter.

Sasha?

Yeah, babe?

Sasha walks into the kitchen with Brit right behind her. Both blondes, tall and small spot the vase's of flowers. Sasha immediately looks at Jan with a surprised smile as Brit is laughing excitedly as she runs towards the smaller vase and picks it up.

Careful, Brit.

She steadies the vase as Sasha walks over to her vase with the bouquet of roses in it. She lowers her nose to smell them before turning back to Jan.

These are beautiful...thank you.

I have a flower! Thank you Jan!

They both notice the 'uncle' was left off, a name he was given 4 months ago upon the first meeting in Lubbock between Sasha and Jan.

Yeah...thank you Jan.

He leans in and gives Sasha a soft kiss on the lips.

You are most definitely welcome, Mijn Lieve.

He kneels down and kisses Brit on the forehead.

and You are welcome as well, Miesje.

He looks up and smiles at Sasha as Brit continues to smell her rose.

This is one of the many reasons I love you. You surprise us for no reason, just because. I'll repay you somehow, maybe tonight, I can make you and Brit some brownies and you two can have a movie night while I watch match footage?

She wraps her arms around her boyfriend’s waist and looks into his eyes. It still felt surreal to her at times that this was her reality. He nods and holds Sasha close to him.

Lions Road has asked me to be in Marquette tomorrow for a meet and greet, but I'm just going to drive up there. Do you want to go or do you want to stay here? I'm not sure if I'm driving right back or wait til the morning. I know we'll have to back before our flight to SAP's show for Saturday.

I think I'm going to stay home, if that's okay with you? I want to get some studying in for the match with Dex, and I want my body to be rested. The constant travel would add extra stress. I'm already stressed over it. He's dangerous, and I won't admit that in public, but this will be a tough match.

He looks down at Brit, carefully placing her flower by Mommy's vase and running off to her room.

Yeah, I agree with that. This weekend means a lot to us. At first t was going to be you taking him down, then me cleaning it up. Now, back to back nights, it will be my time to do the dirty work.

He runs a finger over Sasha's cheek.

Hope you don't mind.

She slowly shakes her head.

I actually think it's for the better, for me at least. I know you can take him down, and that makes it easier for me. I don't want to come home with a fat lip or two like he was saying...I want to be pretty for you. Always.

Sasha squeezes around his waist.

Wouldn't want you leaving me for a younger woman.

He blushes slightly as she says younger woman.

Your lips are very nice as they are and you will always be the prettiest woman in my world.

He looks over towards Brit's Room.

And she is the only younger woman I want in my life other than you. but I have 11 years or so before that happens. If you two don't trade me away by then, upgrading to a newer, sleeker, shinier model.

You're crazy. I FINALLY have a man...I'm not trading him for anything.

She kisses his shirt, right where his heart would be under it.

Why don't you go ahead and watch some tv and relax? I'll make some brownies for you guys later?

He lets go of her, watching her walk into the kitchen.

I have the best show to watch right here. Cooking with Sasha, Sexiest Cook in the world.

He leans over at the bar, watching her get things out of the cabinets and the fridge.

Hard to believe it's been a month , hmm?

She sits her pan on the counter and looks over at him. Her hair was getting longer, her dark roots growing out a little more.

It's been the most fruitful month of my life, relationship wise. I don't think we've had a single fight...that might change soon if you don't cancel the match with Allyson though.

She looks up at him, her eyes lowering as she then continued gathering the necessary supplies.

She'll hurt you. We both saw what she did to Gray.

Gray also went in on borrowed time. He was in no shape to fight and after that first shot to the throat, he might as well have been a slug in there.

He watches her eyes as she continues gathering things.

I know you don't like this, cause of the implications with everyone around her as well. I'm not doing this as part of the circus that went on. She has no respect for our business. She has no honor and she proved that by doing what she did to Gray. And she's got an inferiority complex a mile wide that won't let her see that she's wrong. The only way to make her understand is to teach her about honor and respect. That is what I plan to do.

Gray was on borrowed time? What about you, Jan? What about the fact that Boardwalk wouldn't clear you?

She realizes she's raising her voice, and pauses, looking down at her manicured nails as she rests them on the counter.

Forget I said anything. Forget that I care about you. Go wrestle.

He walks up behind Sasha and tries to place his hand on her shoulder but she pulls it away.

I'm not forgetting what you said. Boardwalk wouldn't clear me because of what happened to Stevie Dreams, not because of my MRI. They were bleeding money and the last thing they needed was another lawsuit. Lions Road cleared me, SAP cleared me, Hell, EWC cleared me for King of the Cage for Next Tuesday.

He turns and leans against the fridge, trying to get her eyes to him.

The neck isn't going to get any worse nor is it going to get any better. As long as I can hold something in my hand, I can wrestle.

She...is...dangerous.

Sasha takes a few deep, slowed, breaths, trying not to lose her temper.

If you want to go out there and risk injury, I can't stop you, but I also can't be there to watch. I refuse to watch you be stretchered out of that arena, Jan.

He lowers his head.

I know she is. Just like the 450 pound Kraken in Lions Road, is dangerous, just like Jonny Cedrone in Boardwalk, is dangerous. Just like Gray Malone, is dangerous. Just like Drew Stevenson, Kat Jones, Amber Ryan, Perzag, even John Blade, are all Dangerous.

He pauses.

Just like You, are dangerous.

He watches her reaction, but gets nothing back from her.

But each of you are a different danger, and this is not something I take lightly. I wouldn't ask you to come. There's too much drama out there and that's going to be evident. But I'm out there to prove a point, that honor and respect for this business, will make you or break you.

I guess your mind is made up then.

Sasha aggressively begins mixing everything together before moving it towards the pan, placing it in the oven. She has her back to him.

I think you should go watch TV or something. I need some time to cool down.

He nods and walks over to the couch as Brit runs in with a drawing in her hand.

I made this for you, Jan. it's a picture of Me and Mommy and You. and you two are holding my hand as we're walking down the street, like we did the other day.

She holds up the picture and he smiles.

Set it on the table so I can keep it on my phone, then go show Mommy.

Brit sets it the table and he leans over to take a picture of it. He takes the picture and Brit takes the drawing in her hand, kissing Jan on the forehead, like he does her. Brit runs over to the kitchen and shows Sasha the drawing. A few seconds later Brit comes back, picture in her hand.

Mommy doesn't seem happy right now.

Brit climbs up onto the couch, she sits next to Jan, staring up at the man she has quickly grown attached to. She isn't saying anything, just staring at him. He looks at Brit and sighs.

Yeah, Mommy is sorta upset with me.

Why?

Jan looks up at the 'Why' question then looks back at Brit

Because she doesn't want me to wrestle a match.

Why?

Because Mommy doesn't like my opponent.

Why?

Because Mommy is afraid I might get hurt.

Why?

Because Jan is slightly broken.

Brit looks at him with a questioning eye, just like Sasha would.

I don't see you broke anywhere.

Jan smiles and looks at Brit, gathering his thoughts.

I will tell Mommy you aren't broke, and then we can eat brownies like a family and watch Miffy.

She crawls over to Jan's lap and faces the tv, it's on the evening news.

This is boring. Why?

Jan looks at the back of Brit's head.

Oh to be young and naive again... The news is meant to give you information. So like if it's going to rain, you don't get wet. It doesn't have lots of flashy stuff but sometimes you need just the news.

Brit turns around and looks at Jan.

Sorta like you. Just go out there and wrestle. No booms or sparklies or smoky stuff.

Brit looks back at the news on the television.

They need more sparklies on the news.

Sasha walks into the living room, she makes eye contact with Jan before sitting down on the couch, keeping her distance from him.

Mommy, I was telling Jan that the news needs more sparklies. It's boring.

But the news tells us things we need to know, like the weather.

Brit laughs.

Jan just said that!

Jan looks up at Sasha.

Great minds hmm??

Brit leans back against Jan, his arms holding her around her stomach.

Mommy, Jan isn't Broke. But I can get my Doctor Kit and show you he's not Broke. So then you don't have to be upset anymore. Jan's not all sparklies, you know.

Jan just closes his eyes and mouths 'I didn't tell her to say that'

He's not broke, he's just a little hurt from wrestling for so many years, sweetie. Did you know Jan has been wrestling since Mommy was 3?

Brit's mouth opens wide.

Jan, you have been wrestling longer than I've been alive!!!

Jan chuckles as Sasha drops the age bomb on Brit.

Now you know why I have wrinkles.

Brit turns around and looks at Jan, putting her fingers across his forehead.

But if you're that old, why do you still wrestle?

Jan looks at Brit and smiles.

You know how Mommy's Mommy is your grandmother. Well that makes you the granddaughter and I have a granddaughter, who doesn't have a...

He stops and looks at Sasha, holding his tongue about the death of his son, then changes his words.

Who needs my help cause she is will be 1 year old just before Christmas and part of what I make, goes to her so when she gets to be your age and Mommy's age, then she will be able to do what she wants.

He chews his lip, hoping Brit understands what he's trying to explain.

Can I meet her? I want to play wrestling with her.

Sasha laughs.

Sweetie, she can't play wrestling or even talk right now. Maybe in a few years. You can be like a big sister to her.

Sasha looks at Jan as she makes her latest statement, she found it impossible to stay mad at him. Jan looks at Sasha and smiles, then looks at Brit.

I would like you both to meet her and her Mommy, but she is back in the Netherlands. Maybe we can see her soon. Mommy and I have a few things to talk about, and I think the brownies will be done in a few minutes, so leave your drawing here so I can put it on the fridge and go play. We will let you know when they're ready ok?

Brit turns and looks at Sasha then at Jan.

Ok!

She runs off towards her room

Yay I get to be a big sister!

Jan looks at Sasha and holds his hand out towards her. Sasha slowly, albeit a bit reluctantly, extends her hand as Jan interlocks their fingers.

I guess we do have a lot to talk about. I'm sorry for losing my cool a few minutes ago. I just...worry, I don't want anything happening to you. I can't picture OUR lives without you at this point and I know she can't either.

Jan edges over towards Sasha on the couch.

And I love that you worry about me. I may not always show it, but I get scared as hell when I see you out there. Every match I've watched of yours, I've been scared to death. Not because I don't trust your skills or that's you're going to lose, I don't want to see you get hurt. It took everything I had not to take out Dexter when he put you through the table and then gloated to Brit.

He looks down away from Sasha.

I wanted to break him.

He looks back up at Sasha.

And I will Saturday. But you will have just enough left to have your own break of him. I'll be ok. I'm not letting go of you and Brit anytime soon. I can beat Dexter Severin. And I can beat Five in one night at King of the Cage. I have the desire, for you, for Brit, for myself, I can do this. Age be damned. I have the same chance as anyone else... and I plan to make the best of it.

He smiles at Sasha.

Should I tell Brit that Niko and Sofia live in Utrecht, when the Miffy Museum is?

Sasha leans in and kisses Jan.

You do and you'll never hear the end of it.

The two sits on the couch, watching the news.

Wednesday Night 11/16/2016 11:55 PM Suburban Detroit, MI

32 wrestlers, 5 matches, 1 night. That’s what this is all about.

The chance of a lifetime. A chance to be immortal. That's what this is all about.

I'm going in at a disadvantage. I’m the oldest of the 32 entrants. I'm not the biggest, I'm not the quickest. I may not even be the smartest. But I have one thing that will keep me driving, striving for the goal. It's not the win, It's not the fight, it's not the money and it's not the fame.

It's the desire.

The desire to be remembered as the man who couldn't but did. The desire to be the one that the kids remember as fighting until he couldn't fight any longer yet he continued to fight. The desire to be honored by his fellow wrestlers as someone who gave his all then gave a little bit more. The desire to be the King of the Cage.

Stevenson has gold and more gold
Morrison has the want to be number two, not number one.
Amber Ryan has the need to take that next step and win the big one.
Amy Jo Smyth and John Blade want to be taken seriously
All of the kids want to make their big splash.

I'm going into this match as a bigger underdog than anyone else. But too many times people have taken the underdog lightly. As someone once famously said, anyone with two hands has a chance.

I've got two hands. I've got heart. I've got intelligence. I've got the desire..

And I've got a 1 in 32 chance to make the miracle happen.

32 to 16, 16 to 8, 8 to 4, 4 to 2, then there can be only one.

And when I'm down to my One Last Breath, I will pull one more breath out of these lungs, then another, then another, until I have taken that One Last Breath of Desire and make the impossible… possible.

I'm not in this to survive.

I'm not in this to just be given a participation ribbon.

It's a game of attrition. And I've gone this distance before.

One Last Breath.

The Desire

The King of the Cage.

The Rooster will crow at Midnight in Toronto.

And That's the Way It Is.
