(luvzombie) American silent horror, science fiction 1913-1923, by John T, soister; Henry Nicolle
During the Silent Era, when most films dealt with dramatic or comedic takes on the "boy meets girl, boy loses girl" theme, other motion pictures dared to tackle such topics as rejuvenation, revivication, mesmerism, the supernatural and the grotesque. A Daughter of the Gods (1916), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), The Magician (1926) and Seven Footprints to Satan (1929) were among the unusual and startling films containing story elements that went far beyond the realm of "highly unlikely." Using surviving documentation and their combined expertise, the authors catalog and discuss these departures from the norm in this encyclopedic guide to American horror, science fiction and fantasy in the years from 1913 through 1929....love the silent horror.....

@klownz…I think you will enjoy, Daughters of the gods (1916) that featured Australian swimming star Kellerman. The film was controversial because of the sequences of what was regarded as superfluous nudity by the main character, Nydia, played by Kellerman. The scene is regarded as the first complete nude scene by a major star, which occurred during a waterfall sequence, though most of Kellerman's body is covered by her long hair. It was filmed by Fox Pictures in Kingston, Jamaica where huge sets were constructed, and directed by Herbert Brenon.
An original score was composed for the movie, which was played by an orchestra during each screening and it was considered the most memorable movie score up to that time. Though stills, some clips and publicity photos of the film have survived, no full copy of the movie itself is known to exist; only clips have been put together so we can enjoy what is left of the movie.

Seven Footprints to Satan is a 1929 American dark comedy film directed by Danish filmmaker Benjamin Christensen. Based on the book of the same name by Abraham Merritt, it stars Thelma Todd, Creighton Hale, William V. Mong and Sheldon Lewis, and contains appearances by Sojin and Angelo Rossitto among others. It was produced as both a silent film and as a part-talkie, with dialog scenes, a full musical score, and sound effects.
The Magician is a 1926 horror film directed by Rex Ingram about a magician's efforts to acquire the blood of a virgin for his experiments to create life.
It was adapted by Ingram from the novel The Magician by W. Somerset Maugham. The film is largely forgotten today, and of interest mostly to fans of obscure films or early horror. This film is on utube) my copy also came with the film, Satan’s Dance starring, Lorraine Lane Burlesque Queen) also she was known as Madam Satan. Films are on utube.
l purchased all my copy’s (films) from turner classic movies. My favorite of theses is daughters of gods.
