Cabin in the Woods is, easily, my favorite movie of 2012 so far. I though all 5 main characters were likeable, though Holden and, at the start, Dana were rather bland at times. I <333 Jules, Marty, and Curt. The plot itself was genius. The kills were good, especially the very first one! o_O I think the comedy was AMAZINGLY well timed and clever as well. The lab touch was an amazing, clever addition as well (And would've made the film work even if it DIDN'T deconstruct the genre) I honestly.... don't have a single complaint with this film except that I wish Holden was characterized better and that I wish Jules & Dana swapped roles (But that's a personal thing lol. It's more fitting that they had the roles they did TBH) I LOVED the meaning of this especially lol. How it's symbolizing the audience and how audiences demand the same thing again and again with horror. I really, really hope the genre listens to its criticisms and starts doing new things (It SLOWLY has but... not fast enough for me lol)

And as far as satirizing horror goes, I think this slaughters every single Scream film. ESPECIALLY the sequels.

Seriously, this movie- (luvzombie)

I was going for best horror film of the year... until the very end. Specifically, the last shot of the entire film. Looked SO HORRID it ruined the rest of the movie for me.

Don't get me wrong though. The acting was great, the plot was original and fun, and it's re-watchable.

8/10 ~ Would've been higher if it weren't for the final shot.

Probably the most fun with a horror movie I have had in recent memory. I honestly rank this above Scream, it satired horror so perfectly. Not to mention Marty was one of the better characters in a horror film over the past few years. Dana was typical, but I also found her extremely likable. I'm so glad this film lived up to the hype that I had for it, it's just behind Sinister as my favorite horror film of 2012.

there was so much buffy-ism in this and the elevator scene reminded me so much of when adam let loose the demons and monsters from their cages in the initiative :D

I know I already posted my thoughts on this movie but IDGAF I'm doing it again. This is easily my favourite movie of the year and arguably one of my favourite horror movie of ALL TIME. I was just watching some behind the scenes footage and just remembering my first time seeing this I had NO idea what I was in for. Probably one of my favourite things about this film is when Dana and Marty are going through the elevator cubes you can actually see a Hunter, Boomer, Witch and Tank from one of my favourite Xbox 360 games Left 4 Dead. The reason for this is I guess while this movie was being filmed there was supposed to be some sort of DLC for Left 4 Dead where the characters go down under the cabin. I don't know it was confusing but after one of the companies who was helping make this went bankrupt or something they let Drew Goddard add some special infected to the cubes. When I first went and saw this film I was just expecting an entertaining horror movie but OH was it so much more than that. I had my eyes glued to the screen the entire time and when the Purge scene came I was trying so hard to look at all these different monsters and it just couldn't be done. One thing that bugs me is that this film is probably overlooked by many people. If you're looking for a kick-ass awesome horror comedy look no further than CABIN IN THE WOODS.

Watching this now and I never realized how dark it is in the first hour. Not in tone, but the lighting. Anyone ever notice this?

I noticed it even in theaters. Jules' death may as well been offscreen, it was so damn dark.
