Cabin in the Woods is, easily, my favorite movie of 2012 so far. I though all 5 main characters were likeable, though Holden and, at the start, Dana were rather bland at times. I <333 Jules, Marty, and Curt. The plot itself was genius. The kills were good, especially the very first one! o_O I think the comedy was AMAZINGLY well timed and clever as well. The lab touch was an amazing, clever addition as well (And would've made the film work even if it DIDN'T deconstruct the genre) I honestly.... don't have a single complaint with this film except that I wish Holden was characterized better and that I wish Jules & Dana swapped roles (But that's a personal thing lol. It's more fitting that they had the roles they did TBH) I LOVED the meaning of this especially lol. How it's symbolizing the audience and how audiences demand the same thing again and again with horror. I really, really hope the genre listens to its criticisms and starts doing new things (It SLOWLY has but... not fast enough for me lol)

And as far as satirizing horror goes, I think this slaughters every single Scream film. ESPECIALLY the sequels.

Seriously, this movie- (luvzombie)

Saw Cabin in the Woods twice, once at the midnight premiere, and own the visual companion book. File it next to Buffy, Angel, Firefly and The Avengers in the list of reasons why I love Joss Whedon. It's a big, smiling "fuck YOU! (boomstick) " to everything that's wrong with the horror genre -- the overreliance on formula, the refusal to innovate, and especially us, the moviegoers who demand the things that have caused these problems. As much as this movie should get some filmmakers off their asses, something tells me we're just gonna keep seeing the same old, same old prevail.

<sigh> I'll never get to see a merman. (suicide)

This is easily my favorite horror movie of the year. It was so awesome. Getting this on Bluray next Tuesday! If you didnt like the movie, then you obviously didnt see the whole meaning of it.

It's a brilliant horror movie. Definitely one of the most original in a long time. It does a better job at deconstructing the genre than Scream, because Scream only deconstructs slashers. This covers it all, and delivers the goods. I <3 this movie, the characters, everything. The whole 9 yards!

I've done some things in my life that I'm not proud of, and the things I am proud of are disgusting.

I've had my copy pre ordered for ages now... This movie surprised the hell out of me, though. I hadn't heard anything about it and got dragged to see it in theaters and was so pleasantly surprised... I totally fell in love with Marty and absolutely loved that it lulled me into the security of believing I knew what it was all about, only to flip the script halfway in. 10/10 and best movie of the year I've seen.
